Chapter 229 A Expected Outcome

Chapter 229 A Expected Outcome

The next day.

Yan Kui didn't wait for Wei Yin; she bought a ticket and went back to Nanshi first.

Because Lan Yueyue is not the only one in my dreams.

Although it was just a small fragment, Yan Shangyu in the dream looked terribly thin.

When Yan Kui woke up, she felt unwell all over and thought she should go and check on things herself.

Wei Yin was in Han Cheng's office when he received the news that she had boarded the plane.

Han Cheng, a newly appointed official, had a long-standing friendship with the current Party Secretary of Nanshi City from his school days.

This was also one of the conditions Wei Yin agreed to help him come to Taipei.

"He's doing his best. The rest of the trip to Nanshi will take a few days."

Wei Yin flipped through the documents on the table, his expression somewhat meaningful: "As expected of someone who can sit in this position, Director Han, you and Secretary Jiang really have a long reach."

Han Cheng took it as Wei Yin praising him.

"The Huo and Bai families have been established and developed in the area for many years. It won't be easy to make them stumble now."

Wei Yin stretched his long legs lazily across the front of the sofa, his eyes half-closed, his voice indifferent: "Director Han, it's already June."

Han Cheng chuckled twice: "Yes, he's almost finished on his end, and he'll definitely send the things to you then."

Wei accepted his kindness: "No need, I'll come and get it myself."

After the matter was settled, the two chatted for a few minutes before Wei Yin got up and left.

In the afternoon, at Tainan Airport.

Yan Kui took a taxi directly home from the airport.

Aunt Xia had already come over to clean the room. After Yan Kui returned and put down her luggage, she immediately called Lan Yueyue.

Upon learning that she was away on a business trip today and wouldn't be back until early tomorrow morning, Yan Kui paused for a moment before asking, "Yueyue, do you know where the Yan family lives now?"

Lan Yueyue thought she had misheard, so she quickly walked from the office to the balcony and repeated, "Are you really going?"

"Yeah, just for a quick look."

"Wait for me to come back and go with you, okay?"

Yan Kui had no intention of doing anything: "No need, I'll just take a look and leave."

Lan Yueyue couldn't refuse her, so she sighed and said, "Okay, I'll ask for you and send it to you on WeChat later."

Around 4 PM, Yan Kui took a taxi to the entrance of an old residential area, following the location sent by Lan Yueyue.

Next to an empty primary school located on the site of an old suburban area, Yan Kui looked up and saw that it was more like a large compound than a residential area.

The gate to the courtyard was wide open, and the old, mottled walls exuded a dry smell, like the kind of old-fashioned buildings constructed in the 1980s or 90s. Several houses had brightly colored bed sheets hanging out to dry in front of them, which were particularly eye-catching.

People were constantly coming and going at the main gate, most of them elderly.

Yan Kui looked at the last few numbers in the message on her phone: Third Ladder 201.

Following the line of sight, the door to room 201 opened, and a man with graying hair and wearing a white jacket walked out, emptying something into the trash can.

Suddenly, Yan Kui recalled her father, who was dressed impeccably but had a cold expression, when she left the Yan family.

When their figures overlapped, Yan Kui felt that this situation was within her expectations.

Yan Kui sat on the stone bench under the tree for almost half an hour, but still didn't see Yan Shangyu or Yan Shuyu.

But just as she was about to leave, she was caught red-handed by Yan's mother, who had returned from grocery shopping.

"You... Kui Kui, you've come to see us?"

Mother Yan ran her hands through her hair, her expression showing particular agitation.

She never expected that Yan Kui would come back to see them.

Ke Yankui's expression remained indifferent, showing no intention of reminiscing with her. Now that she had been discovered, she directly stated her purpose.

"Where is Yan Shangyu?"
