Chapter 25 Sister

Chapter 25 Sister

Later that evening, Yan Kui went out into the yard to hang up her clothes that she had changed out of, and heard the sound of cleaning coming from the neighboring yard.

Yan Kui thought about what she had just done, pursed her lips, and approached the courtyard wall.

He stammered, "I'm sorry about earlier."

Wei Yin, who was focused on cleaning, suddenly heard a woman's voice beside him. Looking at the somewhat eerie courtyard outside, a cool breeze suddenly blew by, and Wei Yin shouted, "Come out here!"

His tone wasn't very pleasant, but his enunciation was forceful and loud, which startled Yan Kui.

Yan Kui frowned. What's wrong with this person? He's so fierce even after I apologized.

Then, realizing he had indeed gone too far, he raised his voice and shouted, "I said, I was so sorry about what I just said!"

Ever since Wei Yin dreamed of that woman, he has become somewhat neurotic. When he heard the voice just now, he subconsciously thought that the female ghost had really come, and his tone became a bit fierce.

Hearing that sound now, he realized it was the girl next door apologizing to him.

I breathed a sigh of relief.

She curled her lips into a slight smile, her tone teasing, and replied, "It's nothing, I just didn't hear you clearly, sorry."

Yan Kui felt that this person was deliberately messing with her. There was only one wall between them, and her voice wasn't exactly quiet, was it?

She rolled her eyes inwardly and went back inside.

That yellow-haired bastard dares to brag to her, saying that the guy next door is the most handsome in the world. He probably's only ever seen one man before.

…………

The next day.

After having breakfast, Yan Kui knocked on Aunt Song's door.

A refined-looking girl with medium-length hair and glasses came out to open the door.

Yan Kui blinked her big eyes and asked, "Hello, is Aunt Song here?"

The girl's face was calm and expressionless: "My mom is cooking."

He then opened the door without telling Yan Kui to come back later or inviting her in.

Yan Kui sensed that the girl didn't seem to like her, but wasn't this their first meeting?

Standing at the door, he shouted twice, "Aunt Song! Aunt Song!"

Aunt Song heard someone calling her from outside the door and came out. When she saw it was Yan Kui, she smiled and said, "Little Sunflower is here! Come in quickly."

She then looked at her daughter sitting on the sofa and said softly, "Why didn't you tell Mom when someone came?"

The girl didn't speak, so Yan Kui walked over and said directly, "Aunt Song, are you busy?"

Aunt Song picked two cucumbers in the yard, washed them, and handed them to Yan Kui, saying, "Not busy? What's up?"

"Well, we use a traditional earthen stove at home, right? I'm not very good at burning firewood. Could you please teach me?"

Aunt Song thought it was something serious and laughed, "No problem, we'll go now."

Yan Kui happily followed Aunt Song and was about to go out when she heard the girl who had just been sitting on the sofa sneer and mutter, "Can't even start a fire."

Yan Kui frowned, looked at Aunt Song who looked a little embarrassed, and put on a smile: "Let's go, Aunt Song, I'm all ready."

Aunt Song was about to say something to her daughter, but after hearing what Yan Kui said, she thought better of it and went to the Yan family.

After Aunt Song taught Yan Kui how to start a fire, Yan Kui was extremely grateful and thought that she must buy something to send to her next time she went to town.

After everyone left, Yan Kui boiled a kettle of water and saw Huang Maomao passing by the door, so she called out to him.

Huang Maomao walked into the yard, and Yan Kui brought him a stool and asked, "Huang Maomao, do you have a younger sister?"

"Yes, I have".

How old is your sister?

"Nineteen, just started her freshman year at a prestigious university. My sister is incredibly smart."

Seeing his proud expression, Yan Kui asked, "Does your sister have many friends?"

“Not many, most of her peers in the village have gone out to work,” she said, then, realizing something, asked, “Yan Kui, why are you asking about my sister?”

Yan Kui smiled, looking very gentle: "It's the first time I've met a girl about my age in the village, so I was just curious."

Huang Maomao thought about it and realized that made sense.

Yan Kui then asked, "Does your sister have someone she likes?"

Huang Maomao was shocked. How did she know? She stared at Yan Kui in surprise.

Yan Kui knew she had guessed right from his expression. Last time, Huang Maomao said that the only young men in the village were him and the neighbor Yin Ge. Now that this girl was so hostile towards her, could it be that she saw her as a love rival?

Yan Kui wanted to laugh.

Having found out the question he wanted to know, he waved to Huang Maomao and said, "Alright, you go ahead and do your work. I'm going to take a nap."
