Chapter 287 The Second Type of Dream
The words gradually faded away, replaced by a scene familiar to Yan Kui.
Luoxia Village, Yan Family.
The courtyard gate was gently pushed open.
"Dad! I want to eat pumpkin porridge today!"
A beautiful little girl skipped and hopped into the courtyard. When she saw the man chopping wood in front of the wood-burning stove, she immediately snuggled into his arms.
Yan Kui's face instantly turned to one of utter shock.
The man in the picture looks exactly like the portrait of Yan Weihua that she kept at home.
And when she saw the girl looking up from the man's arms, her whole body trembled.
"Zai Zai, Daddy's busy, how about Mommy cooks for you?"
Meng Baozhu, dressed in a light-colored dress, followed Yan Kui in from outside the courtyard. Her voice, like the warmth of a winter fireplace, soothed Yan Kui's heart.
"But Mommy has a baby in her belly, and she was sweating when she picked Zai Zai up."
Upon hearing this, Yan Weihua smiled, revealing two rows of bright white teeth, and ruffled the little girl's hair: "Daddy will make it and put lots of sugar in it for Zaizai."
"Okay! Dad, hurry up, I want the sweetest pumpkin porridge!"
Upon hearing this, Meng Baozhu smiled gently and sat down in the courtyard with her pregnant belly. Beside her was a chubby little orange cat that kept rubbing its head against her ankle.
The girl squatted in front of the stove, propping her chin on her hand as she watched Yan Weihua cut the pumpkin. Suddenly, she asked, "Daddy, when will I be able to see my little brother?"
Yan Weihua chuckled: "How does Zaizai know that it could be a younger brother or a younger sister?"
The little girl remained in the same position, but her eyes crinkled with laughter: "I dreamt about it."
As Yan Weihua cut the pumpkin, he looked at his daughter's innocent expression and couldn't help but tease her: "What else did you say in your dream?"
Suddenly, a square piece of pumpkin fell off the cutting board. The girl reached out to pick it up, then raised her arm. Her voice was soft and sweet, and her pronunciation was still a little unclear, but her expression was extremely serious.
“My brother has grown so tall, but he looks like a crybaby. He told me that he had been waiting for me for a long time.”
Snap.
As Yan Kui looked at the scene in the picture, tears streamed down her face uncontrollably.
She knew that this Zai Zai was herself.
She was born safely and was taken back to Luoxia Village by Yan Weihua and Meng Baozhu.
"What the heck, this dream, why are you showing me this..."
Yan Kui, her voice hoarse, didn't want to look, but her gaze couldn't be taken off even for a second.
Outside the dream, Wei Yin looked at the woman on the bed who was constantly crying, and silently wiped the corners of her eyes with a tissue.
"You cry so much even in your dreams. What are you dreaming about? You've soaked both pillows with tears."
Wei Yin spoke to himself, his voice sounding muffled, as he leaned against the headboard, his left hand clasped with Yan Kui's.
"Wake up when you're done dreaming."
"You've slept for so long, are you hungry?"
Unfortunately, Yan Kui couldn't hear.
The scene in the dream changed again.
She woke up from Meng Baozhu's arms, feeling the warm steam on her head, and looked at Meng Baozhu groggily.
"Mom, you seem to be crying."
Meng Baozhu didn't say anything, but just hugged her tighter and patted her back to coax her to sleep.
Yan Weihua opened his eyes and looked over, his handsome brows furrowed with heartache as he used his palm to wipe away Meng Baozhu's tears.
Seeing that her daughter had fallen asleep again, she pulled them both into her arms and whispered, "Did you have a nightmare?"
When Meng Baozhu was asked this question, she cried sadly and wiped all her tears on Yan Weihua's shoulder.
After suppressing her sobs for a while, she slowly opened her mouth and said, "I... I dreamt that we lost Zai Zai."
"I dreamt that she was being bullied, and in the dream we were all gone, we didn't even have a chance to help her..."
