Chapter 62 Curiosity

Chapter 62 Curiosity

After the crowd dispersed, Yan Kui, somewhat curious, followed behind Aunt Wang and asked, "Auntie, your acting was quite good just now."

Aunt Wang shook her head haughtily, too lazy to pay attention to the young girl.

“Auntie, I heard from the village chief that you’ve been living alone in the village for almost twenty years, right? Your son is really successful; he can give away tens of thousands of yuan in one go.”

When Aunt Wang heard Yan Kui praising her son, she said, "That's right, my son is very filial."

"If you need so much money, aren't you afraid that your son and daughter-in-law will have conflicts? There's nowhere in the village to spend the money."

Whenever this daughter-in-law is mentioned, Aunt Wang can't help but say, "What's there to be afraid of? This woman looks restless, and I don't trust her with the money. I'm going to save it for my son, and then secretly give it to him when I'm about to die."

Yan Kui clicked her tongue inwardly: "Is being pretty a crime?"

Aunt Wang glanced at me sideways and said, "I find pretty women like you annoying! You're all vixens! Go away, I can't be bothered to talk to you."

Yan Kui was bored in the village and, driven by curiosity, came over to relieve his boredom.

An old woman nearby saw that Aunt Wang had left and quietly said to Yan Kui, "When Aunt Wang was young, her husband had an affair with a beautiful woman outside. Later, he went out to do business with that woman and soon fell seriously ill and passed away."

"So when her son married this beautiful wife, she was almost driven mad with anger."

Yan Kui touched his chin, realizing that he had gotten his share of gossip.

Then an old lady next to her said, "You are very beautiful too. When you look for a man in the future, you must be careful. Character is the most important thing. Looks are secondary."

Yan Kui nodded and smiled politely at the old lady.

Suddenly, a magnetic male voice came from behind: "Yan Kui".

Yan Kui turned around and saw a man carrying a bucket and a hoe.

Wei Yin has a strikingly handsome appearance with sharp brow bones, a high nose bridge, and a jawline that is as sharp as if it were carved with a knife, with every turn revealing a sharp arc.

Her skin tone is a healthy wheat color, and the muscle lines at the junction of her neck and collarbone are smooth and full of strength.

His lips are thin, and when he purses them, he seems aloof and unapproachable, but when he occasionally smiles, he inexplicably exudes a roguish charm.

Yan Kui thought that while character is important, someone who is both handsome and has good character is the clear winner.

He strode over and asked, "You went to work in the fields?"

Wei Yin gave a soft snort and remained silent.

Yan Kui raised her little face and looked over: "What? Why aren't you answering properly?"

"It's just helping some people who plant seeds and then neglect them to water them."

Yan Kui suddenly remembered the coriander and garland chrysanthemum she had planted before; ever since she encountered the snake, she hadn't gone back to them...

"Hey, how are they growing? When can we eat them?"

Wei Yin led her into the house, put down the hoe and bucket, and washed his hands: "Soon, we should be able to eat it before the New Year."

Yan Kui clapped her hands happily: "Okay, okay, shall we go to town in a couple of days? Yan Sheng is coming back, and I want to go buy some things."

Wei Yin reached out and pinched her fair face, instantly getting water stains on her face. Yan Kui glanced at Wei Yin's hand with disgust.

Wei Yin noticed Yan Kui's glance, and then a large, moist hand cupped Yan Kui's left cheek before gently lowering it.

Just as Yan Kui was about to get angry, Wei Yin said, "Fine, I'll take you there tomorrow on Huang Mao Mao's motorcycle."

His anger subsided, and he wisely wiped the water off his face with his sleeve: "Okay, I'll come find you tomorrow morning."

The next day.

Wei Yin rode his bicycle towards town with Yan Kui behind him. Huang Maomao sat alone in Wei Yin's courtyard, feeling empty and melancholy, and said, "Damn it!! You guys are treating me like a mistress!!"
