Chapter 63 Fake Kindness
Yan Kui sat on the back of the motorcycle, watching Wei Yin steadily ahead, and quietly reached out to tug at the hem of his clothes.
The dirt road is uneven, and there are always stones or small mounds.
Yan Kui's hands turned white from the effort. Wei Yin sighed and said, "Hold me."
Upon hearing this, Yan Kui reached out and hugged Wei Yin's waist tightly, then quickly said, "You let me hug you, so you can't say I'm taking advantage of you."
The motorcycle sped along, and Yan Kui couldn't see Wei Yin's expression, but she could feel a slight vibration coming from the waist and abdomen where Wei Yin was being held tightly.
"What are you laughing at?"
Wei Yin didn't answer her. Yan Kui felt sleepy halfway through, so she gently rested her head on Wei Yin's back, wanting to take a nap.
Wei Yin was slightly taken aback, then slowed down his cycling speed.
The two remained in this position all the way to town.
Yan Kui jumped out of the car. Wei Yin pulled out the car keys and heard Yan Kui say, "I'm going to a clothing store to buy some clothes for Yan Sheng. Last time I left his clothes outside the closet, and they got flooded..."
After saying that, he asked, "Have you ever seen Yan Sheng? Is he tall? Is he thin?"
“I’ve seen him once or twice, and he left shortly after I arrived.”
Wei Yin recalled for a moment: "He was quite thin. I had met him before. He was about my ear tall, probably around 182 or 183 cm."
Hearing him say that, Yan Kui immediately took out several sets of XL clothes, including thermal underwear, sweatshirts, jackets, and pants, two or three of each.
They went to the supermarket and bought some food, filling the motorcycle's storage box and handlebars to the brim.
Yan Kui looked at the somewhat comical motorcycle and couldn't help but laugh.
He then said to Wei Yin, "I'm going to buy water, I'm dying of thirst."
He ran to the entrance of a nearby convenience store and said, "Boss, two bottles of water, please."
Yan Kui took out a five-yuan note from her bag and handed it over. Just as she took the water, someone suddenly grabbed her shoulder.
The force was a bit too strong. When Yan Kui turned her head, she was so frightened that she took several steps back.
Wearing a gray suit, but with a somewhat haggard face, Yan Shangyu's eyes suddenly reddened the moment he saw Yan Kui.
“Aoi…”
Yan Kui instantly got goosebumps. Why did this person come looking for her?!
What are you doing here?
Yan Kui held the water bottle with both hands, her eyes filled with caution.
Yan Shangyu felt that breaking with Yan Kui that day was not the outcome he wanted. He really couldn't bear to part with his sister whom he had doted on for so many years.
Looking at his younger sister, who was even more vibrant and lively than before, Yan Shangyu reached out and grabbed Yan Kui's shoulder, his eyes reddening as he said, "Kui Kui, let's go back with your brother."
Yan Kui tried to break free from his hands gripping her shoulders, but Yan Shangyu's strength was too great.
Seeing this, Yan Kui's anger flared up: "Why go back?! You already have a younger sister, what are you doing here looking for me?! I severed all ties with your Yan family long ago! Let me go!"
Yan Shangyu acted as if he couldn't hear him: "Kui Kui, if you don't want to live with the Yan family, then live with your brother. We'll live alone, and I... I'll protect you..."
Yan Kui was so angry she laughed. Her mouth sputtered like a machine gun: "Protect my ass! Why didn't you say you'd protect me back at the Yan family home? You didn't even react when your own sister threw a cup at me. What are you pretending for now?"
"Let me go!"
Yan Kui shouted really loudly, trying to scare Yan Shangyu away.
Yan Shangyu seemed to want to say something, but his hand, which was gripping Yan Kui's shoulder, was suddenly lifted up.
Yan Kui escaped and immediately turned to hide behind Wei Yin. Then she yelled at Yan Shangyu, "I don't want to see you. I have nothing to do with your Yan family. Go take care of your own sister!"
Yan Shangyu glanced at Wei Yin, who was standing between him and Yan Kui, and his face turned ugly.
"KuiKui, you're dating a country man like this in such a rural place?"
"Do you realize you're ruining your future?!"
"KuiKui, come with your brother now! I won't let Mom, Dad, or ShuYu know..."
For the first time, Yan Kui felt that her brother, whom she had known for over twenty years, was incapable of understanding human speech. Not wanting to say anything more, she pulled Wei Yin and prepared to leave.
Yan Shangyu panicked even more when he saw her about to leave. He had finally found this place and had been waiting here for several days before finally meeting Kui Kui.
"KuiKui! Don't you want to continue your studies? Don't you want to start your own business? As long as you come here, your brother can help you..."
Yan Kui rolled her eyes in annoyance. She couldn't trust the Yan family's brains and character.
Just as he was about to retort, he heard Wei Yin's cold voice: "Look everyone, there's a good-for-nothing here who can't do anything but bully girls."
Wei Yin's voice was more penetrating than ever before, and people around him gathered around, pointing and whispering at Yan Shangyu.
"This person is dressed like a respectable person, how dare he bully people!"
"This guy has been waiting here for days, probably because that girl over there is pretty..."
"This is terrible! Should we call the police?!"
Seeing Yan Shangyu, who seemed flustered and about to explain, Yan Kui stepped out from behind Wei Yin and said, "Yan Shangyu, I made it clear the day I left the Yan family that I have nothing to do with you anymore, and I didn't take anything from your Yan family. Don't pretend to be kind to me."
Yan Kui's expression was calm and serious. After speaking, she didn't even look at Yan Shangyu's expression, and pulled Wei Yin towards the motorcycle.
On the way back, Yan Kui leaned against Wei Yin's back, looking rather dejected, without saying a word.
Seeing her state and her pale face, Wei Yin thought for a moment and then said, "Aren't you going to talk to me? It's hard to keep it to yourself."
Yan Kui didn't move. Wei Yin heard a listless voice coming from behind him: "It's nothing serious. It's just that the house I've lived in for over twenty years isn't my home. My home is in Luoxia Village."
Suddenly, she remembered Yan Shu and that slap-worthy face: "It's mainly because his real daughter is a bit infuriating. She almost made me furious back then."
Wei Yin suddenly felt the person behind him seem to laugh, and then he heard Yan Kui say again, "It's good that I came to Luoxia Village and ran into you and Huang Maomao."
"They feed me every day, so I don't starve to death."
Yan Kui rubbed her face against Wei Yin's back: "Thank you."
Wei Yin felt uneasy after hearing this.
"Squeak—"
The motorcycle stopped, Wei Yin got off, turned around and looked at Yan Kui, his face somewhat gloomy.
Yan Kui was startled by his sudden braking. Seeing Wei Yin get out of the car, she jumped out as well.
Why did you stop the car? Is it broken?
Wei Yin sighed, a hint of heartache in his eyes. He reached out and hugged Yan Kui, gently resting his chin on her head, his warm hand stroking her soft hair.
Yan Kui was suddenly hugged and stunned for a moment, then enveloped in a warm embrace. She heard Wei Yin's strong and rapid heartbeat.
Wei Yin lowered his head slightly, his breath louder than his voice, brushing against Yan Kui's eardrum like a whisper:
“Yan Kui, cry if you want to. I don’t think you’re shameful or pitiful.”
