Chapter 65 A Grand Feast

Chapter 65 A Grand Feast

Yan Sheng looked at his sister, who was staring at him without moving, and skillfully pushed open the iron gate: "Sister, I am Yan Sheng."

After saying that, she blinked a little shyly.

Yan Kui stared blankly at the boy in front of her, and was even more startled when she saw that his eyes looked exactly like hers.

"elder sister?"

Yan Sheng called out again, and Yan Kui finally came to her senses, looking somewhat at a loss.

"Hi"

Then, realizing that the two of them were standing outside the door, he quickly said, "Come in, come in, haha..."

Yan Sheng walked into the room and saw a thick quilt spread on the sofa. He felt a little flustered: "Sister, are you sleeping on the sofa tonight?"

Yan Kui picked up a glass of water, drank it to calm herself down, and nodded.

"Your bed broke during the heavy rain, so I moved to sleep on the sofa. Oh right! Your bed broke! So how do you sleep at night?"

Yan Sheng put down his luggage, picked up the trash that Yan Kui hadn't thrown into the trash can, and gently tossed it in again, smiling, "I'll fix it up, it should be usable enough to sleep in."

Yan Kui watched the punk kid go into the room and followed him.

Yan Sheng lifted the broken bed leg with one hand, looked at it, and then quickly put it down. He glanced at the sky outside and said, "I'll fix the template in the storage room tomorrow and see if I can sleep on it."

Yan Kui smiled sheepishly and asked, "So where are you sleeping tonight?"

"I'll sleep on the floor."

Yan Kui was shocked: "It's so cold outside, you're sleeping on the floor?!"

No sooner had he finished speaking than there was a knock on the door.

"Yan Kui".

Wei Yin had just heard some noise from Yan Kui's house next door and thought it must be Yan Sheng returning, so he came over to check.

Yan Kui opened the door and called Wei Yin into the house.

Wei Yin immediately noticed the pile of bed sheets and blankets on the sofa and frowned: "Who sleeps on the sofa?"

Yan Kui took out the clothes she bought for Yan Sheng from the closet and said nonchalantly, "My bed broke last time it rained heavily, so I can only sleep on the sofa for now."

Wei Yin looked at the narrow, small, and hard sofa, then at Yan Kui, his thin lips pressed tightly together.

Hearing the noise, Yan Sheng came out of his room and immediately saw Wei Yin. He greeted him with a smile, "Brother Wei Yin!"

When Wei Yin saw the person come out, he paused for a moment, just like Yan Kui: "You..."

Suddenly remembering that this was Yan Kui's younger brother, he seemed to carefully consider his words.

"Your hairstyle is pretty cool."

Yan Sheng scratched his head sheepishly, while Yan Kui held back for a long time before finally refraining from asking.

However, Wei Yin seemed to know what she was thinking and suddenly whispered in her ear, "He didn't have this hairstyle when I saw him before."

This time, Yan Kui couldn't hold back any longer and asked, "Yan Sheng, is this a new hairstyle you've changed to?"

Yan Sheng raised his hand and touched his hair, which was half red and half blue, and nodded: "I got it done when I first arrived in Yuan City. I was young, and the people at the factory said that if I got this hairstyle, no one would dare to bully me, and it was cheap, so I got it done."

"After I did that, no one in the factory said anything to me anymore, but no one talked to me either, hehe."

Yan Kui felt a mix of emotions. Her younger brother, who grew up in a remote village, lost his parents a few years ago and went to work in a faraway place by himself when he was just 18.

Yan Kui felt somewhat relieved; he was quite clever and knew how to protect himself.

Even if the method is somewhat off-track.

Seeing that the atmosphere between the two siblings had changed, Wei Yin said, "Put your things down and go eat. Yan Kui, call your brother."

Upon hearing this, Yan Kui nodded and handed the clothes in her arms to Yan Sheng: "I threw away your clothes because they got wet when it rained. You can wear these for now."

She then looked at his thin coat and ripped jeans: "Change out of your clothes and put on some warmer ones."

Seeing Yan Sheng so moved he looked like he was about to cry, Yan Kui didn't know how to deal with his emotions, so she simply told him, "Come find me next door when you're done changing," and left.

Yan Sheng was truly moved.

In the years after his parents passed away, he attended school alone in town and would only come back occasionally during holidays. But no matter where he went, he was always alone, with very few friends and no relatives.

Whenever I miss my parents, I go home and hide under the covers to cry. On the day I have to go to school, I walk from the village to the town.

His parents didn't leave him much money, just enough to finish his senior year of high school. He kept some of it with him for emergencies.

When he heard from a friend who graduated with him that a factory in the original city was hiring and the salary was pretty good, he packed his bag and went there with him.

I only found out after I got there that I worked from morning till night, and I couldn't even look at my phone. Every time I got off work, I was so tired that I would take a quick shower and fall asleep as soon as I lay down. There were no days off.

Even so, the wages were pitifully low.

Until that day, I received a call from the village chief saying that his sister had returned.

Yan Sheng felt a sharp warmth pierce his chest, and kept asking the village chief if it was real.

Later, he received another call from Yan Kui. He kept replaying her voice in his mind. When he heard her promise to wait for him in Luoxia Village for two months, Yan Sheng felt like he was going to collapse and cry.

The wounds that I had been licking alone after losing my parents seemed to have been completely healed because of this phone call.

Yan Sheng took a hard-seat train for a day and a night, arriving in the city at 3 a.m. He then waited until 6:30 a.m. before taking a bus back to the town, and then walked back from the town with his luggage on his back.

Yan Sheng felt that the road back was incredibly long.

I don't know if my sister is really waiting for him at home, or if she has seen the diaries and photos of my parents in the black box.

I wonder if she really looks like me and my mother, as the village chief said.

Holding the new clothes, Yan Sheng watched Yan Kui leave and couldn't help but burst into tears.

Yan Kui sat on Wei Yin's sofa, holding two tissues in her hand. She then took one and covered her eyes, telling herself that she couldn't stop crying, she couldn't cry...

After all, she had just cried once.

Seeing this, Wei Yin removed the tissue from her face, reached out and pinched her cheek, looking at her red eyes: "Have you become a crybaby?"

Yan Kui pushed his hand away and cleared her throat: "I'll be fine in no time."

Wei Yin chuckled lightly: "Later we'll have tomato beef brisket, pork dumplings, steamed egg with minced meat, and stir-fried vegetables. Would you like some soup?"

Yan Kui nodded, her voice slightly nasal: "I want to drink."

Wei Yin curled her lips: "Then stop crying and come help me wash the vegetables."

Yan Kui wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes with a tissue and followed Wei Yin to the kitchen.

Watching Wei Yin's back as he prepared to make soup, he requested, "I want to drink pork rib and corn soup."

Wei Yin was speechless. He reached out and gently tapped Yan Kui's forehead with his index finger: "Where am I supposed to find corn for you in the dead of winter?"
