Chapter 71 Feast, you brat!
The snow fell silently at night, and the village entrance was quietly enveloped in a blanket of white, thickly covering everything, as if the earth itself had been covered with a cotton quilt.
As darkness fell, the biting air almost froze our breath. Occasionally, snowflakes would flutter down from the branches, hitting the snow blanket with a soft, sigh-like sound.
The moonlight flowed quietly across the snow, smoothing out the uneven footprints, gullies, and stones.
At 8:30 p.m., Yan Sheng followed Yan Kui with a large box of fireworks. The two stood at the entrance of the village, and unsurprisingly, there were many unfamiliar young faces in the village.
Judging from their conversation, they all seemed to have lived in the village since childhood, worked outside after adulthood, and then came back together for holidays.
"Hey, Yan Sheng!"
Suddenly, a boy who looked about the same age as Yan Sheng ran over and greeted him warmly.
"Hongwei, when did you get back? It's been so long!"
"I just arrived a few days ago. My grandma told me you have an older sister? And she went back to the village?"
Yan Sheng looked up at Yan Kui, then smiled faintly at Hong Wei and said, "Mm!"
Hong Wei followed Yan Sheng's gaze and exclaimed, "Wow! What a beauty! She's completely out of place compared to the people in the village!"
"Hello, Sister Yan!" Hong Wei greeted Yan Kui with a smile. Yan Kui smiled back and instructed Yan Sheng, "Put the biggest one here. We'll be able to see it when we stand at the village entrance later."
Yan Sheng picked up the largest box of fireworks and carried it forward; these were the enormous fireworks that Yan Kui had bought at great expense.
Back in Nanshi, fireworks were banned in the city, but now that we're in Luoxia Village, nobody cares. Yan Kui was so excited that she bought ten or twenty thousand yuan worth of fireworks.
"Sister, stand a little closer to the village archway, I'll light it and come over."
Yan Kui jogged to the best spot. Yan Sheng saw that his sister was in position and immediately pressed the lighter, and the sparkler ignited with a crackling sound.
Yan Sheng quickly ran back to Yan Kui's side. Just as he stood still, the fireworks went off with a "whoosh," marking the first sound of the new year.
Then it shot into the sky with a series of bangs.
Under the light and shadow of fireworks, the whiteness of the snow and the colorfulness of the fireworks intertwine to create a flowing picture.
The snowfield seemed to be a reflection of the sky, receiving countless colorful falling stars.
Hearing the commotion, many children ran over, exclaiming, "Wow! How beautiful!"
People quickly gathered around Yan Kui. Yan Kui directed Yan Sheng to put out another box. Several children ran over chatteringly and asked, "Sister, can we put out one? Just a tiny one."
One of the boys Yan Kui had met tugged at her sleeve and said, "Please, beautiful sister."
Yan Kui found it amusing, picked up a box of sparklers, and said to the group of children in front of her, "Line up, everyone gets one."
As soon as she said that, the dozen or so children immediately lined up neatly. Yan Kuifa was very happy, and the children surrounded her, saying thank you, sister.
Yan Kui quietly tossed a small cannonball near Yan Sheng's feet. The explosion startled Yan Sheng, who ran away several meters in a panic.
Yan Sheng was initially angry because some little brat had messed with him, but when he saw his sister leaning against a tree, laughing so hard she was almost crying, his anger instantly vanished.
He picked up a small firecracker, melted one instantly, threw it out, and then shouted at Yan Kui, "Sister, I'm here!"
Startled, Yan Kui screamed and ran away, yelling, "Yan Sheng, you brat!!!"
