Chapter 16 Additional Rewards
Wen Song walked to the stairwell, thought for a moment, and then took out her phone to send a WeChat message to Zhao Mingzhuo.
[Song]: I'm at the hospital now and may not be able to get back for a while. If you're still feeling unwell later, call me or take a taxi to the hospital for an IV drip.
I received a call from the other party as soon as I sent the message.
It all happened in no more than two seconds.
As soon as I answered the phone, I heard Zhao Mingzhuo's weak voice coming from the other end.
"Xiao Song, is something wrong with Grandma?"
When Wen Song heard Zhao Mingzhuo's anxiety about his grandmother's illness despite having a fever, and how he had relied on Zhao Mingzhuo for help in the past few years since arriving in Suicheng, the suppressed sadness in Wen Song's heart felt like she had found a savior and wanted to confide in him.
After calming herself down, she said, "It's nothing, it's just..."
Before they could continue speaking, a familiar yet unfamiliar Omega voice came from Zhao Mingzhuo's side.
"Ah Zhuo, I found a fever-reducing patch, let me put one on you."
Wen Song snapped out of her emotional daze.
Perhaps he left just moments before Omega appeared at Silver Lake Mansion.
Another possibility is that if he hadn't proactively informed Zhao Mingzhuo that he was free today, the other party might have already made an appointment with an Omega.
They're just making a deal.
Wen Song never had real feelings for Zhao Mingzhuo, but that doesn't mean he's so strong that he can handle anything with ease.
These past two years have been a bit tiring.
Or perhaps they don't know what to do.
"Xiao Song, wait a minute." Zhao Mingzhuo moved the phone away or turned off the microphone, but there was no sound from the other end.
Wen Song stood silently in the hallway, waiting.
About two minutes later, Zhao Mingzhuo turned on the microphone and said, "Sorry, Xiaosong, what were you trying to say?"
Wen Song's eyelids drooped, his fingers bent and pressed against the white wall, his fingertips rubbing against the cold surface. He calmly said, "Grandma is fine, she just had an adverse reaction to the medicine she took this morning."
"The doctor recommended continued examination and observation."
Zhao Mingzhuo: "It's good that nothing's wrong. If anything happens, just let me know. I'll handle the hospital payment."
Wen Song sincerely said "thank you".
After hanging up the phone.
He stood in the stairwell for a long time without leaving.
Last time, Grandpa Wen mentioned to him that the hospital had launched an injectable drug that could help his grandmother recuperate. The doctor had also told him about it, but the cost would be quite high, with one injection costing 200,000 yuan.
An injection is needed every other day.
Considering that this injection is needed for 15 out of 30 days a month, and each vial costs 200,000, 15 vials would cost 3 million.
This is still adding new items to the existing treatment program.
Cost is a problem that needs to be addressed.
What are you doing standing here?
Suddenly, a familiar voice rang in Wen Song's ears.
Wen Song looked bewildered, thinking he was hallucinating. He turned to the side and saw Alpha standing at the entrance of the building, wearing a long black trench coat.
———It is Guan Ju.
"What are you doing here?" Wen Song asked in surprise.
He recalled that the other person first asked him why he was there, and he replied, "My family member is in the hospital, so I came here to get some fresh air."
Guan Ju squinted and glanced around the stairwell.
Is the hallway well-ventilated?
Wen Song: ".........."
Although he knew that saying it was not quite right.
Generally, people go to the rooftop or other open spaces to get some fresh air.
“And you,” Wen Song asked, “why are you in the hospital?”
Guan Ju walked towards Wen Song's location with her hands in the pockets of her trench coat.
There is a slight difference in height between the two.
As an Alpha, his height of 192cm is excellent, with long legs and a height that makes most people look like tiny figurines when standing next to him.
Wen Song is an ordinary Beta, but his height is relatively outstanding among Betas, with a net height of 181cm.
The difference between him and Guan Ju is that he doesn't have the robust muscle definition of an Alpha.
Even if you have a thin layer of muscle in your abdomen, not soft flesh, it won't look as good as someone with well-defined abs.
Nowadays, when they stand together, there is a height difference.
They're a perfect match.
"Come and take a look," Guan Ju said.
Wen Song gave a dry "Oh".
There was one more thing he really wanted to ask.
Were those experts called in by Guan Sui to conduct the examinations for my grandmother?
Apart from Guan Ju, no one else would specifically seek out a specialist to help with Grandma's condition.
It definitely won't be Zhao Mingzhuo.
Although the other party said they would help him pay for hospital expenses, they never got involved in understanding his condition, let alone made any special effort to find out about the pheromone cancer cell expert team that would help Ms. Song Lanxue with her treatment.
Regardless, Wen Song will be grateful.
Only when facing Guan Ju —
"Are you here to see my grandmother?"
Finally, he asked the question.
Guan Ju did not deny it outright, but gave a very soft "hmm".
Even though a long time had passed, he still keenly sensed that the seemingly calm and emotionless Beta in front of him had cried.
He took his hand out of his pocket and touched Wen Song's eye with his fingertips.
"Have you cried?"
Wen Song's eyelids trembled slightly when the corner of her eye was touched. Before she could speak, she heard the Alpha say calmly:
"Don't cry."
"Your grandmother's condition is well under control."
"The surgery can be performed in two months."
The three simple sentences left Wen Song stunned, unsure how to respond.
Finally, let me ask a dry question:
"Why?"
Guan Ju remained expressionless: "What do you mean, why?"
Wen Song couldn't understand why the other person was so concerned about just sleeping together; he didn't think he was irresistibly charming.
What do you want from me?
Guan Ju parted his thin lips slightly and uttered a single word: "You."
Wen Song: ""
Before withdrawing her hand, Guan Ju gently nuzzled Wen Song's cheek. "You don't need to worry about it. You can take your time to think about it."
"In the end, I have to choose between Zhao Mingzhuo and myself."
The statement was particularly domineering and possessive.
Wen Song felt that leaving Zhao Mingzhuo now would be too immoral. He felt that once he had used him, he should have a better option and kick him to the curb.
We need to consider this carefully.
"Besides this, is there anything else you want?" He lowered his eyelashes and placed his hands folded in front of him. "As long as it's within my power."
Guan Ju raised an eyebrow slightly. "Are you rejecting me?"
Wen Song shook his head slightly. "No."
His head was lowered, his eyes were fixed on the tips of his shoes, and his voice was barely audible.
"...Additional rewards."
Guan Ju raised an eyebrow. "Let me think about it carefully."
Finally, he added, "Is anything okay?"
Worried that Guan Ju would make excessive demands, Wen Song quickly proposed a rule for repaying her: "There can be no physical contact."
At least not now.
Before he was Zhao Mingzhuo's boyfriend.
Guan Ju smiled, thought carefully for a moment, and finally said, "Then make me something to eat, something better than what Zhao Mingzhuo made."
Wen Song looked up at the Alpha in front of him.
It seems the other party is competing with the noodles he made for Zhao Mingzhuo this morning.
"What do you like to eat?" he asked.
"Or is there anything you don't like to eat?"
Guan Ju said, "I don't have any dietary restrictions or picky eating habits, but I prefer sweet flavors."
Wen Song noted down the important information that it was "sweeter".
I have some free time this week, and I've already figured out what to make for Guan Ju.
He asked, "Could you give me your address?"
