My Alpha

Shao Wei's slow but firm nod was like a final anchor, firmly anchoring Si Qi's ever-drifting, restless heart in the harbor of "the future." The afterglow of the setting sun filtered through the glass, elongating the two embraced figures, merging them into a single whole, inseparable.

In the days that followed, time seemed to flow faster with a clear goal in mind. Si Qi poured all his energy into two things: caring for Shao Wei meticulously and assisting him in his recovery; and secretly and efficiently preparing for his departure.

He carefully stored his new identity documents, not showing them to Shao Wei immediately, hoping for a better opportunity. "The Scavenger" had deposited sufficient funds into the sanatorium's account, but Si Qi hadn't used them. Instead, he used funds from a secret overseas account known only to him and completely disconnected from the Si family. Through reliable channels provided by Dr. Chen, he purchased all necessary supplies and arranged a completely safe route out of the country. He became extremely cautious, even paranoid, meticulously scrutinizing every detail, never allowing even the slightest potential risk to threaten Shao Wei.

Shao Wei's health improved day by day. He had been able to walk on his own for a while now. Although he still tired easily and still felt a dull pain in his glands, his complexion was visibly rosier, and his thin face was gradually gaining some definition. He still spoke little, but the look he gave Si Qi was increasingly filled with warmth and a peaceful dependence.

He no longer resisted Siqi's approach and touch, and would even close his eyes slightly when Siqi massaged his legs, which were a little weak from lying in bed, revealing a cat-like, extremely comfortable expression. Sometimes when Siqi was tired of studying, he would raise his hand and lightly touch the back of Siqi's hand with his fingertips, indicating that he should rest.

This subtle interaction, like a trickle of water, silently nourishes Siqi's once barren heart.

That afternoon, the sun was shining brightly. Si Qi helped Shao Wei to the sanatorium's terrace facing the lake to bask in the sun. A soft recliner was covered with a thick blanket, and a small table beside it held warm water and a few snacks that Shao Wei had recently been able to eat.

The lake was like a mirror, reflecting the blue sky, white clouds, and the snow-capped mountains in the distance. Occasionally, a bird would fly by, leaving behind its clear chirp. The air was cool, yet it carried the scent of sunshine.

Shao Wei leaned back in a recliner, wrapped in a blanket, his icy blue eyes gazing quietly at the lake, his expression relaxed for the first time in a long time. The sunlight danced on his long eyelashes, coating them with a light golden hue.

Si Qi didn't sit down, but leaned against the balcony railing, watching him. In the sunlight, Shao Wei lost all his coldness and sharpness, revealing a nearly transparent, fragile, and tranquil beauty. Si Qi's heart softened, and he felt that no matter how much he looked at him, he could never get enough.

"Do you remember when we were little?" Si Qi suddenly spoke, his voice very soft, afraid to disturb the tranquility. "It seems like it was also on a sunny afternoon, when we snuck out of the cabin, lay in the snow, looked at the sky, and thought about nothing."

Shao Wei slowly withdrew his gaze from the lake and turned to Si Qi. A faint glimmer of nostalgia flashed across his icy blue eyes. He was silent for a few seconds, then uttered a very soft "hmm."

"At that time, I felt that the sky was very big and the snow was very cold, but with someone by my side, it didn't seem so hard to endure." Si Qi smiled, with a hint of bitterness in his smile, "Later... I forgot about it."

Forgetting that simple companionship and forgetting the person next to you is the greatest warmth to fight against the entire cold world.

Shao Wei looked at him quietly without saying a word, just pulling the blanket closer to himself.

Si Qi walked over, squatted beside his recliner, looked up at him, his eyes serious and gentle: "When we get to the new place, we'll find a place with a lake and sunshine to live. You can bask in the sun every day, read a book, or do nothing. I'll make you coffee, although it may not be as good as yours... We can learn slowly, learn how to cook, and learn how to live."

He described an extremely bland picture of the future, but his tone was as precious as if he was promising a kingdom.

Shao Wei's eyelashes trembled slightly, and deep within his icy blue eyes, it was as if some ice had completely melted, spreading a circle of extremely subtle but real ripples. He met Si Qi's expectant gaze, and the corners of his mouth curved upwards very slowly and with great restraint, a shallow but unmistakable arc.

It was a genuine smile, stripped of all bitterness and coldness.

Like a spring breeze blowing across a frozen lake, a clear, warm current gushes out from beneath the first crack.

Si Qi's heart seemed to be instantly struck by this smile, stopping its beat before quickly starting up again with an even more frantic rhythm! He stared at Shao Wei, almost forgetting to breathe. It had been three years, the first time he had seen Shao Wei smile like this. Clean, warm, with a hint of shyness, yet incredibly real.

Ecstasy swept over him like a tsunami! He suddenly stretched out his hand, wanting to grab this hard-earned smile, but was afraid of disturbing it, so his fingers stopped in mid-air, trembling slightly.

Shao Wei looked at his silly expression, and the smile on his face seemed to deepen a little. Although it quickly retreated, the warmth in his eyes remained. He lowered his eyelids very lightly, tacitly accepting all of Si Qi's assumptions about the future.

Si Qi could no longer hold back, and cautiously and tentatively reached out his hand to cover the back of Shao Wei's hand that was resting on the blanket. Shao Wei's fingers moved slightly, but he did not withdraw.

The sun is warm and the years are peaceful. It seems as if all the blood, pain and separation in the past were just to pave the way for the tranquility of this moment.

However, unexpected events always occur at the most unexpected moments.

Late one night a few days later, Si Qi returned to Shao Wei's room, having just confirmed his final departure arrangements. Shao Wei was already asleep, his breathing even. Si Qi, as usual, prepared to rest on the accompanying bed next to him.

Just as he took off his coat, the device monitoring Shao Wei's vital signs at the bedside suddenly made an extremely slight but unusually rapid beep!

Si Qi's heart sank suddenly and he rushed to the bed in an instant!

I saw Shao Wei frowning in pain in his sleep, his body began to spasm unconsciously, fine cold sweat quickly seeped out of his forehead, his lips were slightly cyanotic, and his breathing became rapid and difficult!

"Shao Wei!" Si Qi's voice suddenly changed. He pressed Shao Wei's shoulders and called out anxiously, "Wake up! What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"

Shao Wei seemed to be trapped in a nightmare and unable to wake up. A painful, strangled whimper came from his throat. One hand unconsciously grabbed his chest, and the other hand swung violently, knocking over the water glass on the bedside table!

The sharp sound of shattering glass was particularly shocking in the silent night!

"Doctor! Call a doctor!" Si Qi growled into the communicator while trying to stabilize Shao Wei's out-of-control body. His heart was beating so wildly that it almost burst out of his chest!

Dr. Chen and the doctor on duty rushed in. After a quick examination, the doctor's face turned serious. "It's not a glandular problem! It's a heart problem! An arrhythmia with symptoms of acute cardiac asthma! It could be postoperative stress, physical weakness, and... some unknown trigger!"

Unknown trigger? Si Qi's mind went blank! He looked at Shao Wei struggling in agony, his lips turning blue from lack of oxygen, and a huge fear gripped him once again! He was clearly getting better! He was about to leave! Why?!

Emergency treatment began immediately. Oxygen masks, medication injections... Shao Wei was quickly transferred back to the intensive care unit.

Stopped outside, Si Qi paced anxiously like a trapped animal, his fists clenched tightly, his nails digging deep into his palms, leaving crescent-shaped blood marks. Every time the alarm sounded from the ICU, it was like a knife cutting into his heart.

Time has never been so long and cruel.

An unknown amount of time passed before the ICU door opened again. The attending physician emerged, his face weary but tinged with relief. "He's stable for now. It's acute stress myocarditis, a very serious condition. Fortunately, it was discovered in time."

Si Qi's tense nerves suddenly relaxed, and he almost lost his balance. He barely managed to stand by holding onto the wall, his voice hoarse: "...What was the trigger?"

The doctor shook his head. "It's hard to say. It could be a latent viral infection, or it could be a physiological rebound caused by the sudden release of immense psychological stress... He's been so mentally tense before, and now that he's suddenly relaxed, his body might not be able to handle it."

Psychological pressure? Si Qi suddenly thought of that smile and the future he had imagined... Could it be that expectation and hope, for Shao Wei, who was accustomed to despair, were themselves a heavy burden?

Endless guilt and heartache overwhelmed him again.

He was allowed into the ICU. Shao Wei donned his oxygen mask again, his face paler than before, as fragile as if it would break at the slightest touch. He was awake, his icy blue eyes misted with the pain he had just experienced, appearing dazed and exhausted. When he saw Si Qi, a hint of dependence and... a subtle sense of grievance subconsciously slipped into his gaze.

Si Qi's heart instantly melted into water, aching and painful. He walked over quickly, carefully holding his slightly cold hand, leaned down, and gently pressed his forehead against his, his voice choked with sobs: "I'm sorry... I'm sorry... I was too impatient..."

He shouldn't have planned the future with him so early, shouldn't have put any pressure on him. He should have been slower and more patient.

Shao Wei shook his head very lightly, and a faint breath sound came from under the oxygen mask, as if he wanted to say something.

"Don't talk, have a good rest." Si Qi used his fingers to gently smooth his slightly furrowed brows. "We have plenty of time. Life is so long. You can do whatever you want. There's no rush, no rush at all."

Shao Wei blinked, his long eyelashes brushing against Si Qi's skin, bringing a slight tingling sensation. He slowly closed his eyes, but with a slight force on his fingers, he held Si Qi's hand back.

This sudden crisis was like a bucket of cold water, extinguishing all of Si Qi's anxiety and restlessness. He calmed down completely.

The plan to leave was postponed indefinitely. Si Qi no longer spoke of the future, of a new identity. His entire focus shifted back to Shao Wei's immediate recovery. He became more silent, more attentive. Every day, he simply accompanied Shao Wei, taking care of his daily life, accompanying him in simple rehabilitation exercises, reading lighthearted and meaningless books, or simply watching the clouds roll by with him outside the window.

His pheromones became more peaceful and stable than ever before, like the calmest rock, silently nourishing Shao Wei's damaged body and mind.

The days seemed to have returned to their initial state in the sanatorium, even slower. But this time, there was no more anxiety or uneasiness in the air, only a calm, gentle persistence.

After that heart attack, Shao Wei's body recovered more slowly, but also more robustly. He remained calm throughout, showing no fear or frustration over the incident. Only when he occasionally glanced at Si Qi would his eyes reveal a complex, difficult-to-interpret depth of meaning.

A week later, Shao Wei's heart condition stabilized completely and he no longer needed oxygen support. One sunny afternoon, he took the initiative to ask to go for a walk by the lake.

Si Qi carefully dressed him in the warmest clothes and wrapped him in a thick scarf. After making sure that he was not feeling unwell, he carefully supported him and slowly walked towards the lake.

The ice on the lake had begun to melt, revealing deep blue water that shimmered with tiny golden glints in the sunlight. The air was still cold, but with the fresh scent of the first melting ice and snow.

The two walked slowly along the lakeside. Their steps were very slow. No one spoke, and the only sound was the crunching sound of snow being stepped on.

After walking for about ten minutes, Shao Wei was slightly out of breath, with sweat on his forehead. Si Qi immediately stopped and helped him sit down on a clean bench by the lake.

"Are you tired? Shall we go back?" Si Qi asked worriedly.

Shao Wei shook his head, his gaze fixed on the shimmering lake, his breathing gradually calming. The sunlight on his face made his pale skin look almost transparent.

After a long silence, he suddenly spoke very softly. His voice was a little scattered by the wind, but it reached Siqi's ears clearly.

"What's that new name?"

Si Qi was stunned and didn't react for a moment.

Shao Wei slowly turned his head, his icy blue eyes looking at him calmly. He repeated it again with unusual calmness and clarity: "The new identity given to us by the 'Scavenger'. What is my new name...?"

Si Qi's heart felt like it was struck by something! He looked into Shao Wei's calm eyes and suddenly understood - Shao Wei knew everything. He had long been aware of the plan to leave and might even have guessed the cause of the heart emergency.

He was not afraid of the future. He was using that almost self-destructive method to force Si Qi to stop and force him to see clearly - what was important was never where to go or what identity to have, but between them, and whether every step they took was steady.

Si Qi's eyes instantly heated up. He took a deep breath of the cold air, carefully pulled out the document bag he had always carried with him but never dared to show to anyone, and handed it to Committee Member Shao.

Shao Wei didn't take it, but just gestured for him to open it with his eyes.

Si Qi's fingers trembled as he pulled out the new ID card belonging to Shao Wei. On the brand new card was an unfamiliar name, and next to it was a photo of Shao Wei. His eyes were calm, but no longer as dead as before.

Shao Wei's gaze lingered on the unfamiliar name for a long time, so long that his heart almost jumped out of his chest.

Then, he slowly raised his eyes and looked at Si Qi. His ice-blue eyes were as clear as melting glaciers in the sunlight, reflecting Si Qi's nervous face.

Very slowly, he stretched out his slightly cold fingers and gently touched the card.

Then, he raised his eyes and looked towards the lakeshore in the distance, where the ice and snow had melted, revealing a vibrant life. His voice was soft, but it carried a sense of calmness and relief, as if everything had settled:

"Let's wait until the flowers by the lake are in bloom..." "Let's go."
