Chapter 15 Zerg Raid

Chapter 15 Zerg Raid

Luo Weiya's words came true very quickly.

In the early morning, Qianzhi was awakened by a burst of sirens and roars.

This seemed extremely abrupt in the always silent black tower.

She drew aside the curtains and looked out, seeing the gloomy sky and the walls that had once been low but were now translucent, stretching out into the clouds.

The wall was buzzing with blue lasers.

Looking through the translucent wall, one can see a dense, dark, moving "black cloud" among the trees and clouds.

With a strange and astonishing speed, this dark mass pressed towards the outer edge of the ninth district.

All the guides and sentries of the Black Tower were gathered in the safe zone on the fifth floor of the Black Tower.

"What is that?" Qianzhi watched the quantum cannon on the wall continuously bombarding the dense black cloud.

Every time it exploded, a green blood mist would appear.

"It's the Zerg, the vanguard," Lian Hua replied. "About two to three years from now, the Zerg will launch an attack on human territory in the spring. However, the estimated number of Zerg this time is 30% higher than in previous years, so we need to pay special attention."

Lian Hua glanced at the communicator, his nervous expression tinged with excitement. "The Central Military Headquarters will be sending people over this time. I heard Marshal Lian and an S-rank guide will also be coming."

"A marshal-level sentinel?" Qianzhi's emerald green eyes lit up.

She wondered what it would taste like, and she was curious.

Speaking of the Marshal, Lian Hua kept talking:

"He's the man who, as a teenager, single-handedly broke into the outer worm caves of Area 9 and slew the Jungle Queen! And to this day, he's undefeated! Of course, he's also a hard worker! It's said the lights in the Marshal's Mansion stay on all night! And most importantly, he's incredibly handsome! He's known as the man with a model face."

Before Lian Hua could finish his words, the door to the concentration area opened and a tall man in a white uniform walked in, surrounded by people behind him.

Ian Gwen glanced at the crowd indifferently. His cold blue eyes paused for a moment when he saw a figure by the window, then he immediately looked away.

The cold and distant expression on his handsome face remained unchanged, only his soft and long black eyelashes trembled for a moment.

"--Marshal Gwen!" The girl with orange-red hair suddenly jumped in front of Ian, her face flushed and she looked very excited.

Ian Gwynne is the person that almost every guide wants to comfort. If he had not come to District 9, Alice might never have had the chance to see him in her life.

"I'm Alice Brown, an A-level guide from District 9. If you need any mental comfort, you can come to me." Alice deliberately said "A-level" very loudly.

After all, there are only a handful of guides above A level.

If she did a good job of mental comfort, or was more compatible with the Marshal's mental power, she might have a chance to stay with the Marshal, or she might be able to leave the backward Ninth District and live in the Imperial Capital Star.

What's more, maybe even the Marshal.

"Thank you, Miss Guide Brown," Ian's eyes were as cold as ice. "But my mental strength is very stable, so there's no need to waste your energy."

He looked at the blushing guide in front of him and took a step back inconspicuously.

"But, the number of insects this time is very large. If we are not careful--" Alice couldn't see Ian's refusal, and her face turned redder.

Is the Marshal concerned about her?

She leaned forward, trying to pretend to fall flat on her face.

As long as she falls into the Marshal's arms, she can use her mental power to try to capture him!

But before she could get close to him, she felt a bone-chilling chill from the cold wind blowing across the back of her neck.

The man was looking down at her with a cold expression, as if he was looking at a clown with an ugly face.

She was shocked by the mental power he released and could not move. She even lost the strength to escape backwards.

Is this the power of an Imperial SS-class Sentinel? Only then did Alice realize the gap between her and Ian.

The man's body flashed and he walked away from her side, as if he was walking around a broken rock blocking the way.

The sound of whispering was heard.

"She thinks she's worthy of the marshal? She's just daydreaming."

"Marshal Gwen has already said that he will not accept the guide's appeasement."

"A macaw with just reached A-level mental strength thinks it can fly over the head of an SS-rank leopard? That's hilarious."

Alice turned her head sharply and stared sternly at the group of guides who were talking.

What sycophantic bugs they are, Alice thought angrily.

Ever since Qianzhi came, no guide was willing to obey her orders.

What was that dodder guide? Speaking of spiritual beings, she was infinitely better than Qianzhi!

She is at least a little famous in the Imperial Star, but who would know that Qianzhi!

The Marshal won't even know who she is!

Alice comforted herself, raised her chin again, and looked proudly in Qianzhi's direction.

The next moment, her expression suddenly turned gloomy, and she was unaware even of her nails piercing her flesh.

Because the imperial marshal, who was unwilling to show his true face to her, was standing in front of Qianzhi with his head slightly lowered.

A few minutes ago, Chizhi was watching Alice's overly strenuous acting with a lack of interest. She yawned and turned to look at the sky outside which was getting darker.

"I do feel a little sorry for Miss Brown." Lian Hua sat next to Qianzhi, shaking her head with regret, but her expression was a little sarcastic. "Marshal Gwen is completely focused on the security of the Empire. He even said in the interview that he has no intention of binding himself to the Guide or accepting appeasement."

Alice used to be too ostentatious and arrogant, and Lian Hua had suffered at her hands.

Fortunately, however, she is now assigned to Chizhi.

"Ah, the Marshal really didn't pay any attention to me." Lian Hua smiled.

But the girl beside him didn't say anything, instead she frowned slightly and said, "Strange."

"What's wrong?" Lian Hua looked out in the direction of Qianzhi.

"The Zerg density over there is a bit sparse. It's in the sunny part where the clouds are thinnest, which the Zerg don't like. However, the distribution of the Zerg here is the most rigorous."

Just like the personal guards of the human emperor, they subconsciously want to show their best side in front of the Insect Queen.

"This means that there may be moist soil or muddy terrain beneath the trees, and the worm queen is underneath."

Just like the pseudo-biological command bunkers humans have made.

No wonder the Zerg are the Empire's biggest threat compared to pirates and other interstellar enemies.

They have evolved intelligence sufficient to fight humans, and increasingly sophisticated combat systems.

"Qianqian, how did you know—" Lian Hua was a little surprised when he saw Qianzhi's delicate and pretty profile.

"-It seems that you are very familiar with the Zerg's attack habits." A deep male voice sounded from beside them, interrupting Lian Hua's question.

Lian Hua turned around and found a noble man standing behind them.

"Yuan, Yuan, Yuan, Marshal, Marshal..." She was so shocked that she couldn't even finish her words.

Ian actually didn't want to come over here. After all, he didn't want to be bound to a guide in his life.

But the sentry's keen senses heard Qianzhi's voice and the content of her words, so he allowed himself to walk towards Qianzhi.

He stared intently into Qianzhi's green eyes.

This was the first time that I actually saw her in person, not through a cold screen.

She was even more gentle and adorable than he had imagined. Even the slight scent of her scent had its own unique characteristics.

As sweet and refreshing as flower petals soaked by water droplets after rain.

The marshal, who had very little experience in communicating with the opposite sex and guides, could only think of these poor and shameful adjectives at this moment.

But he showed no sign of it, and even continued to speak coldly:

"Where did you learn this?"
