Chapter 458 Wife-killing

She clenched her fists to keep herself calm.

"I haven't seen you these past few days, and you've been all I can think about, even though we've both been wearing masks. So, could you consider me? Let me be your girlfriend."

Lin Chenxuan believes this is the boldest and bravest thing she has done in her eighteen years.

Song Boyan's eyes turned cold. He didn't understand. They had only met a few times, how could he say he liked her?

Isn't that too hasty?

He only felt that way about her, like a little sister. He helped her out of pity, because she was in excruciating pain every time she came to him for treatment.

"I'm not considering marriage, much less dating. Sorry."

Song Boyan doesn't beat around the bush; he only refuses directly.

"Why?"

Lin Chenxuan didn't expect to be rejected so directly, without any hesitation.

"If it's about age, I don't mind that you're eight years older than me. Or is there something I'm not good enough for?"

Lin Chenxuan didn't understand and thought he was just making excuses to reject her. Even if she was rejected, she had to get a clear answer before she could give up. Otherwise, she wouldn't give up.

She's already taken the first step; there's no going back. Even if she were given the chance to make the choice again, she would still say the same things to him.

She had fallen in love, and she wanted to confront her own feelings.

"No, I think I've made myself very clear. I don't plan to get married, and I'm not considering dating."

Song Boyan had never felt this way about her before, and he didn't know what he had done to make her misunderstand him.

"Give me a reason so I can die knowing why."

Lin Chenxuan became more courageous with each setback. She was not afraid of being rejected, but she was afraid of being rejected without knowing why.

"I am a jinx to wives."

After a long while, Song Boyan slowly uttered three words before leaving.

Lin Chenxuan's mind went blank; she hadn't expected such a reason at all. As Song Boyan brushed past her, his eyes gleamed.

Lin Chenxuan was a little confused and found it somewhat amusing. Song Boyan was superstitious? When did he have his fortune told?

Doesn't he know that fortune telling is inaccurate?

Then, realizing what was happening, he quickly gave chase.

When she chased after him, she found that Song Boyan had disappeared without a trace. Lin Chenxuan was stunned. He had left so completely.

It must be said that she was a little sad to be rejected, but she did not accept this reason.

Song Boyan returned to the consultation room and looked at the photo frame on the table. It was his wedding photo with his deceased wife.

Even Yan Xiluo was unaware of this matter, and Song Boyan did not mention it to anyone.

He only loved his wife; they had only been married for six months when she died in a car accident.

He had promised to love her for the rest of his life. At that time, they already had a child, and the baby in her belly was four months along.

He died in that multi-vehicle collision...

That car accident killed many people...

He never imagined that his wife would also die there.

Two years later, the memory remains vivid, and the pain has only intensified. The excruciating pain strikes again, making it impossible for him to accept anyone else in this lifetime.

If it weren't for his own parents and in-laws to take care of, he would have chosen to leave with his wife and unborn child long ago.

Seeing his parents-in-law's hair turn white overnight, he no longer dared to have suicidal thoughts. He and his wife were both only children.

They've already lost their daughter; they can't afford to lose their son-in-law too...

Thinking about this, he felt that God was really unfair to him, as he had never told anyone about his family affairs.

Everyone assumes he doesn't have a girlfriend and is single, but what can he do? Say he was married and his wife is deceased?

How much courage does it take for him to bring it up every time?

Song Boyan carried the photo back to the lounge. In fact, he hadn't rested in the lounge since Lin Chenxuan slept on this bed last time.

He didn't have a cleanliness lapse that day, nor did he object; it was simply because he was too busy to change the sheets.

He removed all the sheets, duvet cover, and pillowcases, packed them up, and put them in a trash bag. Then he took out new ones from the closet, put them on, and lay down with the photo frame in his arms, closing his eyes.

He thought he had made his rejection very clear and hoped that Lin Chenxuan could give up. He couldn't say anything too harsh about Lin Chenxuan's relationship with Yan Xiluo.

Lin Chenxuan took the elevator to the hospital cafeteria, but still couldn't find him. Could it be that he wasn't eating lunch at the hospital?

She wouldn't accept that reason...

Unable to find Song Boyan, she had no choice but to eat at a nearby restaurant first, deciding to look for him another time to avoid making him feel annoyed.

She was wondering whether she should ask Yan Xiluo and see what she had to say.

On second thought, she decided to forget it. She had only met Song Boyan a few times, and she was already being kind enough that he didn't think she was crazy!

If all else fails, could she come to the hospital more often? Maybe make more of a public appearance?

Why does pursuing someone suddenly seem so difficult? Sigh...

Won't people think she's too superficial? That she just likes guys who are handsome?

She feels like everything she does is wrong. She has no dating experience whatsoever, and she really needs a dating guide right now.

Should we ask Lin Ziye? Or forget it! He's been single longer than her! We can't learn from him.

Lin Chenxuan randomly entered a restaurant and sat down, feeling that she was in a bad mood.

Horse Farm

Lin Ziye and Ji Jingxi agreed to go horseback riding at the horse farm at three o'clock.

Ji Jingxi was the person Yan Xiluo introduced to him. They felt a connection when they first met and didn't mind meeting up more often.

This was their third date. Although they hadn't become boyfriend and girlfriend yet, spending more time together and getting to know each other better might help them get over their current situation soon.

Both of them are the type who take a while to warm up to love, and they feel that this kind of relationship is pretty good.

Ji Jingxi's personality is similar to Tang Yutian's; both are lively and cheerful. However, Ji Jingxi is more radiant, which is somewhat different from Tang Yutian's cuteness.

Ji Jingxi is also slow to warm up when it comes to relationships, unlike Tang Yutian who is more proactive and outgoing.

When Yan Xiluo chose Ji Jingxi, she felt that she and Lin Ziye were a good match. Her lively and cheerful personality complemented Lin Ziye's, and their pace in the relationship was basically in sync, so there wouldn't be too much of a gap between them.

"Are you okay riding a horse?"

Ji Jingxi asked softly, sitting to the side and putting on protective gear. She didn't actually know if Lin Ziye could ride a horse; she had just casually mentioned that she hadn't been to the horse farm to ride in a long time.

Lin Ziye then said she would come with her.

"It's alright, not too bad."

He's far inferior to Yan Xiluo... but better than the average person, not too bad.

"How does it compare to Luo Luo?"

Ji Jingxi's favorite thing to do is to invite Yan Xiluo to the horse farm, and the two of them will have a friendly sparring session every time they come.

"Um... I'm not as good as Luo Luo."

The question came to him as soon as he thought of something, and he felt incredibly embarrassed...

Ji Jingxi's question suggests that her abilities are on par with Yan Xiluo's.
