entanglement
Xia Zhitang was stunned for a moment, then thought seriously: "I'm quite annoyed with him."
Gu Zian was a little dissatisfied: "Will you like him?"
Xia Zhitang realized belatedly that Gu Zian was inexplicably jealous of Lin Jingming.
"I like you." Xia Zhitang pinched Gu Zian's cheeks with both hands, "Stop having those random thoughts."
"He sticks to you all day...it hurts, please be gentle, sister."
Xia Zhitang twisted his ear in anger: "How many years have I been working with him? If I really wanted to have something to do with him, I would have done it long ago."
"I hate him!" Gu Zian said indignantly.
"Yeah, I get it. That's why we need to squeeze out all his knowledge." Xia Zhitang handed the script to Gu Zian. "What he learns is yours."
"Why can't you adjust it right?" Lin Jingming threw his coffee cup in anger as he stared at the monitor. "Go for mottled warm light! The heroine walks from position A to position B. Camera 1 for the wide shot, and camera 2 for the close-up!"
The people below were all busy and active.
When Xia Zhitang walked in with his assistant carrying a pile of documents, he bumped into Lin Jingming, who was standing in front of the monitor with a sullen look on his face and his hands folded, while the stagehand was wiping the floor with a mop.
When he saw Xia Zhitang coming in, his eyes lit up and he pulled him into the conference room.
"What's wrong? Why are you so angry?" Xia Zhitang pried his hands apart. "Also, please don't pull me around casually."
Lin Jingming wiped his face and paced around the conference room angrily.
"That's stupid! I've explained my requirements to them, but they keep making mistakes." He rolled up his sleeves and fanned himself with his hands in anger. "Every department has their own technical issues. It's such a simple requirement!"
Lin Jingming suddenly pulled out the storyboard for this scene and handed it to Xia Zhitang: "Break up some of the work on hand and help monitor the scene, especially those that involve the coordination of multiple departments."
Xia Zhitang hesitated and did not agree immediately.
"Help me bring the team out first." Lin Jingming continued, "Only a high-quality film in all aspects can help your boyfriend win an award."
"I agreed to bring someone along." Xia Zhitang flipped through the schedule, "Please circle the sessions that I need to monitor."
"Why are those people so stupid?" Lin Jingming sighed as he circled the screen time, complaining, "Why did you suddenly become a producer?"
“Now I have more say.”
Lin Jingming narrowed his eyes slightly: "To protect your boyfriend?"
"Not really, I just wanted to give it a try since I had this opportunity." Xia Zhitang shook his head. "If I can't do it, I can always return it."
"Is your original intention still there?" Lin Jingming looked at Xia Zhitang, "You said at the beginning that you just wanted to do what you like."
"Execution is sometimes frustrating." Xia Zhitang sighed, "Anyone can interfere with the filming."
"Work with me. My films are of high quality." Lin Jingming stuffed the schedule back to her, "I'll help you shoot whatever you want."
Xia Zhitang looked at the confident Lin Jingming and inexplicably remembered that long ago, he said to her: "What are you afraid of? I'll take care of you."
She lowered her eyes and whispered, "I have to learn to be independent."
Lin Jingming stared at her seriously for a while, then suddenly smiled: "Okay, my promise is valid at any time."
After Xia Zhitang took over part of the execution and scheduling at the shooting site, the NG rate dropped sharply and everyone felt much more relaxed.
Apart from Gu Zian who was secretly unhappy - the communication time between Xia Zhitang and Lin Jingming increased dramatically!
Gu Zian once again wanted to have dinner with Xia Zhitang but was intercepted by Lin Jingming. He couldn't help but sneak into Xia Zhitang's room at night.
After some tenderness, Gu Zian hugged Xia Zhitang, who was too tired to move, and complained, "Why does Lin Jingming always bother you?"
"Then you should keep him company for a while." Xia Zhitang's eyelids were drooping from exhaustion. "Ask him more questions and drain his knowledge!"
Gu Zian nodded thoughtfully and leaned over to kiss Xia Zhitang.
"Go back to sleep, I really don't have the strength anymore." Xia Zhitang pushed his strong chest.
Gu Zian picked up the wrinkled pajamas thrown on the floor and helped her put them on: "I'll leave after you get dressed. You always like to kick the quilt."
Xia Zhitang yawned again. Gu Zian smiled and tucked her back into the quilt, then quietly turned off the lights for her. After confirming that there was no crew members around through the crack in the door, he went out and walked back to his room.
Lin Jingming discovered that Gu Zian recently liked to talk to him about the script and ask questions. He quickly came to his senses, but he was not anxious.
That day, Gu Zian, as usual, took the newly written character biography to Lin Jingming for a rehearsal, and Lin Jingming gave him instructions calmly as usual.
The two returned to the hotel one after the other. As soon as the elevator door opened, they saw Yi Song, the fourth male lead in the play, knocking on Xia Zhitang's door with a script in his hand.
He wasn't shy when he saw the two of them coming over. He raised the script in his hand and said, "Let's work with Producer Xia. She's very clear and patient."
Lin Jingming glanced at Gu Zian, whose face was as dark as the bottom of a pot, and smiled broadly: "Okay, Producer Xia is very busy, come over."
He dragged the two away, one in each hand: "I'll take you with me. It's just right that there are two of us who can take over the show."
The next day, when Xia Zhitang confirmed the position of the rail car with the cameraman and returned to the monitor, Yi Song came over again, holding the layout diagram and asking Xia Zhitang about his future movements.
Gu Zian, who was putting on makeup, wanted to rush over, but was held down by Brother Wang.
After Yi Song finished asking questions politely, he also gave Xia Zhitang a cup of milk tea.
Lin Jingming came over with a smile: "Hey, it seems that your wolfhound will destroy the house tonight."
Xia Zhitang ignored Lin Jingming: "You can start filming now."
"I've taught you so much, but why don't you ever show me any respect?" Lin Jingming sighed sadly, "After all, I was your first teacher in film and television."
Xia Zhitang stuffed the milk tea given by Yi Song into Lin Jingming's hands.
"You're being too perfunctory." Lin Jingming muttered as he poked the straw in. "I want a new coffee cup. The one you always use is fine."
"Hey, I haven't finished speaking yet, why did you leave?" Lin Jingming muttered in dissatisfaction as he looked at Xia Zhitang's back.
The next day, Lin Jingming received a black coffee cup from Xia Zhitang's assistant and nodded with satisfaction: "Producer Xia is very proactive."
He walked into the set humming a song, holding the coffee cup he had just received, and looked at one, two, three... countless of the same ones.
"What's going on?" He pointed to the same model placed on the table by the lighting engineer.
"Producer Xia's treat! Everyone gets one." A stagehand walked by holding the same model. "The quality is pretty good."
Lin Jingming's smile fell, and he looked at Xia Zhitang with resentment as he walked towards him holding the documents.
"Is this your filial piety?" Lin Jingming's eyes fell on the glaring red marks on her neck. "The mosquitoes last night were really poisonous."
"Why do you need to?" Xia Zhitang said generously, "I'm a few years old now, it's normal."
"Xia Zhitang, you don't understand men." Lin Jingming whispered in her ear, "This will only arouse a man's desire for challenge."
She took a step back with a cold face: "Director Lin, I am a human being. I can only exchange sincerity for sincerity."
Lin Jingming suddenly smiled: "That's really exciting."
He said, smiling and taking two steps back: "Next time, give me something decent. You're so stingy."
He looked at Xia Zhitang with lingering eyes for two circles before turning around and leaving, humming a song.
"You're sick." Xia Zhitang muttered softly, fanning himself with his hand in annoyance.
"Producer Xia, there is a parameter that I would like you to confirm." The filming team leader shouted loudly while standing next to the rail car.
"Coming right up."
In the evening, Xia Zhitang was checking the budget list in the director's office when Yi Song knocked on the door and came in with the script.
"Producer Xia, can you direct this scene?" The actor, in his late twenties, was in his prime. "Director Lin said the action should express a complex mix of hope and struggle, but I don't quite understand the character's motivations."
"You should ask Director Lin about these things." Xia Zhitang put down the pen in his hand and looked at the young man in front of him with a complicated expression.
"Director Lin is amazing, but I think your explanation is easier for people to understand." Yi Song did not back down because of Xia Zhitang's rejection. "I think discussing it on multiple levels will make it easier for me to grasp this role."
With sufficient reasons and a correct attitude, Xia Zhitang no longer had any reason to refuse: "If you need to talk to me about the play in the future, please make an appointment with me in advance."
"Okay, can I add you on WeChat?" Yi Song took out his phone and apologized, "It's my fault for not being considerate this time and causing you trouble."
After successfully adding WeChat and asking questions, Yi Song said goodbye very tactfully.
When he arrived at the door, he saw Lin Jingming leaning against the wall smoking. He was stunned for a moment and greeted him very politely: "Hello, Director Lin."
Lin Jingming waved at him casually.
Seeing that the director ignored him, Yi Song turned and left.
After smoking a cigarette and sucking two mints, Lin Jingming pushed the door and walked into the office.
"That's perfect. These all need your confirmation." Xia Zhitang pulled out a stack of documents and pushed them over.
Lin Jingming pulled a stool next to her and sat down, then picked up a pen and started looking through the documents.
After confirming the work, he put away his pen, leaned back in his chair and looked at Xia Zhitang.
"Producer Xia has recruited another 'good student'?" Lin Jingming said with a smile, "As long as someone has status, all kinds of fresh meat characters will come."
"He just came here to ask about a job." Xia Zhitang put away the document signed by Lin Jingming. "Don't think so badly of people."
"You are getting better and better at pretending to be stupid." Lin Jingming suddenly regretted that he was too concerned about his reputation at the beginning, but then he changed his mind and thought that if he could agree to his request easily, he would not be Xia Zhitang anymore.
"No matter what, we still have to continue working." Xia Zhitang stuffed the documents into his bag. "Focus on your work. It's good for you, it's good for me, it's good for everyone."
"Why hang yourself on a tree?" Lin Jingming stood up and blocked her way.
"Why are you doing this?" Xia Zhitang stepped back holding the documents to create some distance.
"What's so good about him?" Lin Jingming looked at her with narrowed eyes.
"Lin Jingming, fate cannot be forced." Xia Zhitang felt a little sad. "I am just an obsession that you cannot get."
"Is that how you see me?" Lin Jingming almost lost his balance and had to hold on to the wall to avoid falling.
Xia Zhitang smiled and held back the tears that surged up in her eyes. "You will always be the director I respect. I am very grateful to you for bringing me into this industry and for helping me unreservedly."
She walked towards Lin Jingming step by step, tears welling up in her eyes: "But, that's all."
"Xia Zhitang, you are so cruel." Lin Jingming was like a fish thrown ashore, gasping weakly in the air.
"Director, you're free now." Xia Zhitang's eyes were filled with sadness. "People should look forward and not be stuck in the past."
"You don't understand." At this moment, Lin Jingming wanted to use a smile to hide his inner panic, but he didn't even have the strength to laugh.
Talking about this, Xia Zhitang felt an inexplicable pain gnawing at the depths of her soul, turning the world in her eyes into gray.
The two fell into a vortex of silence, enveloped by invisible sadness.
Xia Zhitang lowered his eyes and passed by Lin Jingming.
Lin Jingming wanted to reach out and pull it, but he didn't have the courage.
He looked at Xia Zhitang's gradually receding back and silently said in his heart: No, you are not my cage.
