Heart-to-heart
This time when flying to Chengdu, Xia Zhitang did not make a surprise attack, but made an appointment with Gu Zian in advance.
As soon as he got off the plane, Gu Zian's assistant was waiting for Xia Zhitang at the exit.
"What time does Zi'an finish filming today?"
The assistant took out his phone and asked his colleagues on the scene: "There are three games left."
"Let's go to the supermarket and buy some things first."
When Gu Zian came back from filming, Xia Zhitang was cooking in the hotel again.
"Go take a shower first." Xia Zhitang was busy making noodles while wearing his newly bought apron.
"Do you need my help?" Gu Zian felt warm in his heart.
"No, I can do it!"
When Gu Zian came out with a refreshing smell of shower gel, Xia Zhitang had already set the table.
A plate of steamed shrimp, a plate of boiled vegetables, and two bowls of egg noodles. The appearance was not particularly exquisite, but Xia Zhitang could already get rid of the instant noodle dishes he started with.
Gu Zian hugged Xia Zhitang and kissed her: "Sister is so nice."
"My cooking skills are not as good as yours." Xia Zhitang turned around and kissed him back.
"I like everything you cook." His hands became restless.
"Eat first!" Xia Zhitang grabbed his hand, "Eat while it's hot."
"Okay." Gu Zian kissed the corner of her mouth reluctantly before letting her go.
The two of them sat at the small table and ate quietly.
Xia Zhitang tried it and found the noodles a bit clumpy, the fried eggs had too much salt, and the boiled vegetables were too soft because they were cooked too long. The only thing that performed normally was the boiled shrimp.
However, Gu Zian was very satisfied with the meal and finished all the food.
After dinner, Gu Zian put on an apron and washed the dishes while Xia Zhitang adjusted the projector.
“I encountered wild yaks in Tibet.”
"Huh?" Gu Zian looked up in surprise. "Is it dangerous?"
"I'm staying in a safe place." Xia Zhitang thought for a moment, "I think their emotions are very delicate."
She turned to look at Gu Zian: "You'll understand when you watch the video we took later. It's so shocking."
After washing the dishes, Gu Zian hugged Xia Zhitang and began to watch the footage of the day when the yaks were sold.
The video is supplemented with interviews with herders, starting with the conflict between wild yaks and herders, and then broadcasting the struggle of the yak calves on the day of selling the cattle. Gu Zian felt the yaks' resistance, submission and fear until the wild yaks appeared.
It seemed to come with the affection of protecting its calf. Humans were forced into a desperate situation and rose up in resistance. In the end, the wild yak looked back at the death of its calf with nostalgia, and Gu Zian's tears fell uncontrollably.
"It's very exciting." Gu Zian said while wiping his tears, "This topic is very good."
"Zi'an, I want to participate in this filming." Xia Zhitang turned and looked at him steadily, "as the backup cameraman and post-production editor for the team."
Gu Zian was stunned: "Station?"
“Yes, most of the shots of wild yaks you see were taken by me.”
"Sister, this is very dangerous." Gu Zian panicked. "The plateau is prone to lack of oxygen, and wild animals are uncontrollable!"
"Yes, but their emotions are touching." Xia Zhitang held Gu Zian's trembling hand. "Its eyes seem to understand everything. It is intelligent!"
"I don't want you to go." Gu Zian couldn't help but shed tears. "Why did it have to be his project? And such a dangerous one?"
"It's not his project. This is a decision I made when I was photographing wild yaks." Xia Zhitang kissed the back of Gu Zian's hand. "This experience will be unforgettable for me."
"I, I can't accept it." Gu Zian hugged Xia Zhitang tightly, and his tears turned into dark flowers on her pink collar.
Xia Zhitang said nothing and patted his back gently.
Gu Zian was upset for two days, but Xia Zhitang refused to give in.
Every day I am busy in the hotel with the promotion of "The Echo of the Blue Luan" and the early planning of the documentary. In my free time, I learn to cook by looking at recipes.
Gu Zian was eating the cola chicken wings made by Xia Zhitang when he suddenly began to sob and cry.
Xia Zhitang hurried over and hugged him, gently stroking the back of his head.
"Sister." Gu Zian bit the back of Xia Zhitang's hand with tears in his eyes, "We must call each other every day."
Xia Zhitang was stunned for a moment, then realized that he had finally accepted the idea of filming a yak documentary.
"Okay, I'll send you photos every day." She felt a little sad. "Let's start by taking pictures of the herders' line, as well as the temple's myths and legends about yaks and activities."
"Don't fall in love with Lin Jingming!"
"I've been wearing the ring you gave me."
"be safe."
"Yes, we will hire a guide and provide a medical professional."
Gu Zian raised his head and looked at Xia Zhitang with wet eyes: "I will propose to you after I complete the two-year agreement."
"good."
Lin Jingming hummed a song as he pushed open the door of Cheng Shubai's company. Before he took a few steps, he saw him looking at him with a bad expression.
"Did you deliberately lure her to Tibet?" Cheng Shubai lit a cigar and blew out a smoke ring. "I thought your love-brain problem had been cured."
He sneered: "It turns out that there is no hope!"
Lin Jingming calmly took out the documents waiting for Cheng Shubai's signature and placed them on his desk: "She is the most suitable person."
"What a case of using public power for personal gain." Cheng Shubai regretted not transferring people to other projects earlier.
"That's not what I meant." Lin Jingming snatched a cigarette from Cheng Shubai's cigar box and lit it. "She took the shot of the wild yak charging over, and the look back as it left."
Cheng Shubai was stunned for a moment, then took a deep drag on his cigar irritably: "You are all crazy."
"This is called artistic resonance." Lin Jingming glanced at the clouds drifting outside the window, "We understand each other."
Cheng Shubai snorted softly, "If I had put in this effort earlier, I wouldn't be digging in the corners every day and still not being able to dig."
"Lin Jingming couldn't have imagined this four years ago," he replied with a wry smile. "No, I couldn't have imagined this either when filming of 'Blue Luan Tribulation' was finished."
"When did it start?" Cheng Shubai leaned towards Lin Jingming unconsciously.
Lin Jingming looked at the smoke curling up from his fingers, his eyes a little vague: "On the night when the Su family was destroyed, she smiled and told me to continue filming, and she invested money for me."
"I take the lion's share!" Cheng Shubai said coldly, pouring cold water on him. "You're not broke, so why bother?"
"Can you keep the camera steady on a wild yak as it charges towards you?" Lin Jingming said with a smile. "Can you keep pestering me about an unreasonable script?"
Cheng Shubai felt that Lin Jingming's behavior made him feel a little jealous: "Why don't you just marry your work and devote yourself to art?"
"What else do I have besides art?" Lin Jingming put out his cigar in self-mockery.
Cheng Shubai didn't know how to answer for a moment.
"Okay, I'll be responsible for the artistic creation, and you'll be responsible for investing and collecting the money." He changed the subject. "It's a pleasure working with you."
Cheng Shubai looked at Lin Jingming, who was wearing a white T-shirt and sweatpants, and could only suppress his thousands of thoughts and say, "It's a pleasure to work with you."
Once again sitting under the starry sky in the pastoral area and warming himself by the fire with Lin Jingming, Xia Zhitang felt complicated.
"What are you thinking about?" Lin Jingming turned around and saw Xia Zhitang in a daze, and couldn't help but ask.
"I feel a little dazed." Xia Zhitang counted on his fingers, "It seems like it's only been a little over a year since I first came here last year."
"Our pace is too fast." Lin Jingming somewhat understood Xia Zhitang's meaning. "We are constantly being chased by schedules, and we're afraid that even an hour of delay will cost us a lot of money."
"We came here to shoot for three days. It seems we didn't capture much, but we learned a lot and it was very fulfilling."
"After all, it was luck that we captured the intense conflict so quickly." Lin Jingming threw a piece of dry cow dung into the campfire. "Most of the time in a documentary is probably spent waiting, waiting for the story to suddenly burst forth. But that doesn't mean we just sit there and wait. Lao Cheng just told me that he's contacted a herder family that peacefully coexists with wild yaks."
"Conflict and harmony, here comes the story." Xia Zhitang smiled, stretched, and lay down on the butterfly chair.
Lin Jingming glanced at the big red butterfly chair behind Xia Zhitang and felt a little jealous - this was bought specially for her by Gu Zian.
"Practice using the camera tomorrow. You're still not very proficient at operating a tripod."
"I refuse to discuss work at this moment." Xia Zhitang scooped up the butter tea that was heating on the fire. "Please tell me tomorrow if you have any work arrangements."
Lin Jingming choked. Apart from work, he and Xia Zhitang seemed to have nothing in common. "Don't really think of this as a vacation."
"Director Lin, how come you don't understand life?" Xia Zhitang joked with him while blowing butter tea, "What are your hobbies besides filming?"
"Looking at the stars, reading books, visiting exhibitions." Lin Jingming suddenly smiled and shook his head, "Alas, I haven't adapted to this slow pace yet."
Xia Zhitang curled up in his chair and laughed.
Lin Jingming looked at her with a bright smile: "You loved to laugh when you first joined the team."
Xia Zhitang was stunned for a moment before realizing that she was talking about when she first entered this industry.
"Yeah, no one expected so many things to happen in the past few years." Her smile faded a little.
Lin Jingming realized that he had touched upon Xia Zhitang's sorrow and couldn't help but feel a little regretful.
"I increasingly feel that giving up misfortune and fortune are interdependent." Xia Zhitang quickly adjusted himself, "No experience is meaningless."
Lin Jingming looked at the orange-red bonfire that outlined her soft profile and wanted to ask her: "Have you discussed this with Gu Zian?"
“Seeing the truth of the world, I still choose to believe and love it.”
Xia Zhitang looked at Lin Jingming in confusion, not understanding why he suddenly brought up this.
Lin Jingming looked at the campfire with his eyes lowered and smiled - this was how Xia Zhitang looked in his eyes.
"What do you think the world looks like from the perspective of a yak?" Lin Jingming changed the subject. "Being kept in captivity doesn't necessarily mean happiness, but freedom doesn't necessarily mean happiness either."
"This question is too philosophical." Xia Zhitang drank the butter tea. "What is the relationship between heaven, earth, and man?"
"This is the core of this film." Lin Jingming raised his butter tea and clinked it with Xia Zhitang's. "Don't worry, we'll find the answer as we go along."
