At 7:30 in the evening, Xia Zhitang came home from work and opened the door. The living room was filled with soft light and Gu Zian was sitting under the desk lamp flipping through the script.
On the small coffee table were placed a few juice flowers picked from the balcony, and the flowers complemented the white window screen embroidered with butterfly patterns.
Gu Zian put away the script and stretched, revealing a strong waistline.
The two of them sat at a small round table and ate a homemade meat, vegetable and stew. The blue striped porcelain bowl was chosen by Xia Zhitang.
After eating and drinking and throwing the dishes into the dishwasher, Xia Zhitang washed up, came out of the room barefoot in a refreshing silk pajamas.
Gu Zian, who was curled up on the sofa reading a script, smiled and took the person into his arms, lowering his head to smell the scent of the same shower gel as his.
Xia Zhitang supported himself on his strong thighs with both hands, raised his head and kissed Gu Zian's smooth chin.
"When will you join the team?" Xia Zhitang leaned in Gu Zian's arms, listening to his strong heartbeat.
"The day after tomorrow." Gu Zian put his face against the top of Xia Zhitang's head. "The filming is expected to take four months."
"I'll come find you after The Echo of the Blue Luan is finished."
"Okay, I'll express the backup room card to you."
Xia Zhitang struggled to get up, put his hands on Gu Zian's strong abdominal muscles, looked at his handsome lover, and couldn't help but reach out and stroke his cheek.
"If you meet a girl you like more." Her eyelashes trembled slightly, and her expression was stained with reluctance that she had not noticed. "Remember to tell me."
"Are you jealous, sister?" Gu Zian placed his palm on the back of her hand, then turned around and kissed her palm.
Xia Zhitang stood up and sat on his lap, putting his arms around his shoulders: "I'm a little reluctant."
"Me too." Gu Zian lifted her chin and kissed her.
The lingering affection and reluctance entangled in the heart turned into a dense and entangled kiss, and the sorrow of parting lingered between the lips and teeth.
Gu Zian suddenly stood up with his arms around Xia Zhitang, and with his hands firmly supporting the person in his arms, he rushed into the bedroom.
Gu Zian threw the wrinkled pajamas that fell on the floor into the dirty clothes basket, and took out a new set from the closet and placed it on the bedside.
Xia Zhitang yawned and lay lazily on the pillow, the orange light of the bedside lamp falling on his delicate back.
Gu Zian smiled and pulled up the thin quilt, then leaned over and took out a gift box from the bedside table and handed it to Xia Zhitang.
Xia Zhitang sat up holding the pillow, and Gu Zian picked up the thin blanket to cover her.
She opened the exquisite jewelry box, and inside lay a ring with a chain.
Gu Zian picked up the necklace and helped Xia Zhitang put it on: "I will give you the real ring when we fulfill the promise. Wait for me, sister."
Xia Zhitang stroked the ring around his neck: "Zi'an, your sincerity at this moment is more precious than any promise."
She didn't know what would happen in the future, but the sincerity of the person in front of her at this moment was brighter than diamonds.
"Sister, you can do it." Gu Zian hugged Xia Zhitang tightly from behind. Although he was very afraid of Lin Jingming who was eyeing him covetously, he was willing to believe it.
Xia Zhitang put his hands on Gu Zian's arms and shrank into his arms.
She was moved by the unique enthusiasm of young people. What would happen in the future really didn't matter. It was Gu Zian's persistence that gave her the courage to devote herself to this relationship.
In the editing room, Lin Jingming and Xia Zhitang sat on chairs to confirm the final version of the edit.
"Okay, that's it." Lin Jingming took off his gold-rimmed glasses tiredly and pinched his nose bridge.
"There's no problem on my end." Xia Zhitang turned off the video and stretched - his head felt dizzy from reviewing the films continuously.
"Has Lao Cheng arranged any other work for you?"
"Not yet. I'm taking a break and will do the promotion when I come back."
Lin Jingming put his glasses back on and turned to look at Xia Zhitang: "The topic selection for the documentary has been decided."
"Let's take a look." Xia Zhitang had packed up his things and was about to shut down the equipment, but he sat down again after hearing the news.
Lin Jingming walked over to the computer desk, inserted the USB drive, and opened the document inside.
"The location is Tibet. Currently, we're considering topics in the humanities and natural sciences, with four more specific areas..."
Xia Zhitang unconsciously opened his notebook and took notes, asking a question or two from time to time.
After Lin Jingming finished explaining the plan, Xia Zhitang turned to look at him and asked, "When do you plan to leave?"
"After the end of 'The Echo of the Blue Luan', we plan to go next month." Lin Jingming asked casually, "Are you interested in going with me?"
Xia Zhitang was a little confused. After working with Lin Jingming for so many years, they had a tacit understanding when it came to handing over work, but...
"If you come, you can save on camerawork and planning." Lin Jingming continued, "Don't you want to experience documentary production? Besides, you've invested money, so you should have control over something as important as choosing a topic."
"What did Mr. Cheng say?"
"The preliminary proposal has been approved. Wait for me to submit the next plan." Lin Jingming narrowed his eyes. It seemed that Cheng Shubai had not mentioned the progress of the documentary to Xia Zhitang at all. Fortunately, he always made several preparation plans.
"Have you made the research plan?"
"Yes, we've made a preliminary plan for four locations." Lin Jingming opened another form. "We're still confirming the dates with the local authorities, but the general plan is to cover festivals, herders, temples, and the wild."
"Okay, I'll go with you." Curiosity about documentary filming eventually prevailed.
"Okay, I'll take care of the rest." Lin Jingming couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief. If Xia Zhitang didn't agree, he would have to negotiate with Lao Cheng to transfer the person over to him.
The summer in Chengdu is scorching hot. Gu Zian sweated and dried himself several times on the set, but he was still in high spirits.
Xia Zhitang is about to start his vacation, and he will be very happy that they can have a short time together then.
Brother Wang walked him to the door of the room and said: "The filming will start at 7 o'clock tomorrow. I will come to wake you at 5:30."
Gu Zian said goodbye to Brother Wang and opened the door.
The lights in the room were on, the room card was stuck in the card slot, and Xia Zhitang was standing at the door barefoot with a smile on his face!
Gu Zian happily rushed over and hugged her: "Sister, you surprised me again!"
"I missed you. I went straight to the airport after leaving the company." Xia Zhitang hugged Gu Zian's lean waist and abdomen, "You've lost weight."
"Everything here tastes like chili!" Gu Zian's lips had already found their way to Xia Zhitang's fragrant neck and he began to lick and kiss it.
"Go take a shower first." Xia Zhitang's voice softened.
"Yeah." Gu Zian hurriedly took off his shoes and rushed into the bathroom with the person in his arms.
"I've washed!" Xia Zhitang's charming voice came from the bathroom.
"Sister, I miss you so much." Gu Zian's voice was as low and hoarse as a cello.
The sound of dripping water was faintly mixed with the melodious voice like the song of a nightingale and low breathing.
The next day, Gu Zian's scenes ended early. He rushed back to his room excitedly, opened the door, and smelled the aroma of instant noodles.
Xia Zhitang was taking noodles out of the electric cooker: "Brother Wang said you haven't eaten yet."
She looked at the bowl of instant noodles and the not-so-good-looking dumplings and felt a little embarrassed: "I only know how to cook this and barbecue."
Gu Zian's eyes were a little sore: "Sister is very good, I like her very much."
"The noodles are still hot from the pot. Go take a shower first." Xia Zhitang stuffed clean clothes into his arms and pushed him into the bathroom.
Cool water gushed out from the shower head and hit Gu Zian's body. He sobbed softly under the cover of the sound of water.
It’s not that he hasn’t had girlfriends before, but only Xia Zhitang is special.
She was the only one who did not ask for material things or money, and was willing to buy him a small cake because he did not like the birthday party arranged by his father.
Only she, who obviously didn't like cooking and wasn't good at it, was willing to cook a pot of instant noodles for him.
No one understands that what Gu Zian misses most is the time when his mother was still alive and his father had not yet started a business, when the whole family would sit around the small dining table and eat a home-cooked meal together.
When Gu Zian came out of the bathroom, the corners of his eyes were still red and moist.
Xia Zhitang was a little surprised, but she was considerate and didn't ask anything.
Gu Zian wolfed down an exceptionally delicious dinner of instant noodles and frozen dumplings.
After dinner, Xia Zhitang pushed Gu Zian, who was obviously in a bad mood, onto the chair and cleared the dishes himself.
While washing the dishes, Gu Zian silently hugged her from behind and put his face on her shoulder.
Xia Zhitang turned off the faucet and used his arm as a rag to wipe his hands.
Gu Zian laughed out loud on Xia Zhitang's shoulder, and Xia Zhitang finally breathed a sigh of relief.
In the evening, Gu Zian was reading a script in the room, while Xia Zhitang was wearing headphones and reading information about Tibet.
"Sister, are you going to Tibet to film next?" Gu Zian finished writing the character's biography and came over to look behind Xia Zhitang.
Xia Zhitang took off his headphones and said, "Well, I'm going to Tibet next month to do research on documentary topics."
"Your company is going to make a documentary?" Gu Zian was a little surprised. As far as he knew, Cheng Shubai had always been working on theaters and long dramas.
"Lin Jingming's project." Xia Zhitang thought about it and decided to tell Gu Zian, "I also invested money in it. This is his first documentary, so it's safer for me to choose the topic."
"Why does he suddenly want to make a documentary?" Gu Zian felt that something was wrong.
"It's one of the conditions for cooperating with us to bring down the Su family." Xia Zhitang pulled him to sit on the sofa and explained, "He wants creative freedom. Documentary films are less commercial in nature and offer more freedom."
"Sister, are you also involved in the investment?"
“Yes, I want to be a producer.”
Gu Zian looked at the glittering platinum ring pendant hanging on Xia Zhitang's collarbone, and thought of the secret promise he made to her when he gave her the necklace - mutual trust.
He held Xia Zhitang in his arms and said sullenly, "The ultraviolet rays in Tibet are strong, so you have to protect yourself from the sun."
Xia Zhitang was a little surprised. She had already prepared to comfort Gu Zian.
She couldn't help but sigh that her little wolfdog seemed to be growing up slowly.
Xia Zhitang nuzzled into Gu Zian's arms and said, "You should be careful when filming. There are too many fighting scenes."
"Yeah." We all need to be better versions of ourselves.
