Separation
As soon as Xia Zhitang left the airport, she spotted Gu Zian surrounded by a crowd. She took out her sunglasses, put them on her nose, and walked towards the center where the mobile phone camera was aiming.
Gu Zian handed the rose in his hand to Xia Zhitang. Seeing that her face, half covered by sunglasses, seemed to be much more relaxed than before they left, he couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.
He smiled and took Xia Zhitang's hand, like a champion parading with a team flag.
Xia Zhitang recalled the chase between the two of them that year and felt that history was repeating itself.
Finally we got into the nanny car. As soon as we opened the door, Qingwu in the safety seat stared at his little feet happily.
"Mom is back!" Aunt Chen, who was sitting next to the safety seat, smiled and stood up to make room. "Come, our little baby, sit next to mom."
Xia Zhitang took off his sunglasses and finally smiled relaxedly.
After putting away his luggage, Gu Zian squeezed in next to Xia Zhitang and put his arm around Xia Zhitang's shoulders: "Baby has been talking about mommy several times these days."
Xia Zhitang raised her upper lip slightly: "Mom misses you too."
Her tone was calm, peaceful, yet powerful. She was not in a hurry to explain, nor did she feel guilty.
"Tangtang, you must be tired." Aunt Chen felt that the atmosphere seemed a little off. "Auntie Wang has already prepared dinner. Let's go home and eat."
"Zi'an, let's not have Qingwu appear on camera again until he reaches adulthood," Xia Zhitang said, holding Qingwu's small hand. "If Director Wang asks, please refer them to other suitable children. Mr. Cheng has a lot of resources."
Gu Zian looked at his daughter who was babbling and didn't understand anything, and nodded slowly.
He couldn't help but feel emotional when he recalled that he and Xia Zhitang had been secretly in love for a long time because of online public opinion.
"That's fine. People on the internet say whatever they want. Let her choose the path she wants in the future."
Xia Zhitang glanced at Gu Zian, who was looking at his daughter seriously.
Regardless, he's a good father.
After returning home and having dinner, Xia Zhitang played with Qingwu for a while before returning to his room with Gu Zian.
Gu Zian looked at Xia Zhitang in surprise as he locked the door, and his Adam's apple moved slightly unconsciously.
"Wife, I bought new clothes..."
"Zi'an, let's talk." Xia Zhitang interrupted Gu Zi'an's infinitely ambiguous and imaginative words.
"Qingwu coughed twice today, I'll go see her." Gu Zian looked at Xia Zhitang's calm expression, and his inner alarm bells rang.
"She just choked. If anything really happens, she'll call us." Xia Zhitang pulled out a chair on the coffee table by the window. "Sit down."
She looked up at Gu Zian who was moving towards here reluctantly and took a deep breath.
"I won't divorce."
"Let's separate."
The two people spoke in unison, and tacitly saw surprise in each other's eyes.
"Zi'an, I'm not happy." Xia Zhitang was the first to react. "I can't adapt to life under the spotlight, and I can't be the woman who silently pays for you behind the scenes."
"No, you have postpartum depression." Gu Zian's face flushed, and he subconsciously reached out to grab Xia Zhitang's wrist. "Let's go see a psychiatrist, okay? He can cure it."
"Zi'an, this is a decision I made after careful consideration. I know what I want."
Xia Zhitang also felt very sad. They met when each other was at their lowest point, but they were unable to stay together when everything was going in the right direction.
"No, wife, you can't be so willful." Gu Zian's cold tears fell on the back of Xia Zhitang's hand, like a cold hammer hitting her heart. "You can't let Qingwu and Qingluan lose their complete family!"
Xia Zhitang couldn't help but shed tears. She choked up and slowly said, "You love them, and I love them too. We both have the ability to give them complete love."
Gu Zian was so angry at Xia Zhitang's remarks that he laughed. He picked up the book Xia Zhitang had given him on the desk and threw it to the ground.
"What kind of home is this? A family is only a home when they are together!" He remembered when he was a child, he was looking forward to his father's return but also afraid that his father would take his mother away.
When his father came home, he would always get a lot of pocket money, but his mother would no longer come to tuck him in late at night.
Gu Zian was afraid that Qingwu would hate him for abandoning him in the future, and hate him for not being able to accompany him in his growth when he needed her most.
Xia Zhitang looked at Gu Zian curled up on the blanket, just like the third prince in "The Legend of Three Kings" who was ignored by his father and waited for the palace maid An to look for him again and again. She suddenly realized something.
"It won't be like when we were little." Xia Zhitang stumbled and squatted down, hugging Gu Zian and crying, "We shouldn't be trapped in the past. We are different."
"No, Qingwu needs us to be together. She will miss her father and her mother." Gu Zian could not hear what Xia Zhitang said at all. The sadness of being abandoned again overwhelmed him.
When Guan Mingyue pushed open the door of the private room in her high heels, Xia Zhitang was holding a wine glass and drinking.
"You're so promising! Aren't you afraid of paparazzi snapping the wife of a famous A-list actor's producer getting drunk late at night?" she teased, fishing a bottle of wine out of the ice bucket. "This wine's okay. Anything to eat?"
"Order yourself." Xia Zhitang pointed to the tablet on the table, his face flushed as he tried hard to regain his senses.
"Could there still be rumors about us? I don't have any big wolfhounds." She giggled to herself, "It's safe here, I know."
Guan Mingyue ordered a bunch of food, played a happy breakup song, and played the waterfall-like scroll in front of Xia Zhitang's innocent eyes.
"Did you have another fight with that guy in your family?" she asked as she poured herself a glass of wine, put it to the tip of her nose and smelled it before taking a sip with satisfaction.
"Mingyue, why is he always unwilling to listen to what I say?" On the second day of the cold war, Xia Zhitang suddenly realized that his needs were being ignored again. "I thought I could endure it. There is still half a year left. Why is it so painful?"
"I want to know that Old Cheng doesn't know about his dismissal." Guan Mingyue's beautiful eyes rolled up slightly, but she relied on her beauty to interpret a charming demeanor. "They didn't even lower themselves to listen to your needs until they pushed you to the point of overturning the table."
She swirled her wine glass, her eyes full of sarcasm. "After all, they're so young and rich. If they fall in love with someone, outsiders will just say 'it's an honor.' Who really cares what women think?"
"I want a separation!" Xia Zhitang downed the wine in his glass in one gulp. The heavy glass hit the marble table with a clang. "Why do people have to get married? Why do they have to put on a show of loving couples just to maintain the so-called integrity of their family?"
"Baby, doing this will only make him think that you can save the relationship." Guan Mingyue smiled and put the cold glass cup against Xia Zhitang's face.
"After all, it doesn't cost them to pretend to be decent." Under the flickering light, Guan Mingyue's expression was unclear. "After all, they are indeed good fathers."
"Mingyue, do you regret it?" At that time, Xia Zhitang couldn't quite understand why Guan Mingyue wanted to divorce Cheng Shubai, considering that Cheng Shubai doted on Tongtong so much.
"Why would you regret it?" Guan Mingyue asked, "Do you regret running with the ball?"
"No, never!" Xia Zhitang shook his head violently, but he felt dizzy because he used too much force.
"People will only make the choice that is most beneficial to them at the moment. No matter which choice they make, they have to give up something. As long as you think it is worth it, it's fine." Guan Mingyue silently poured herself another glass of wine. "As for what others think and say, it's none of my business."
The knock on the door for the food delivery person interrupted their conversation.
With the happy breakup music playing in the background on loop, the two drank in silence.
After the waiter left the room, Xia Zhitang, who had been looking down in thought, suddenly said, "You're right. Whatever you say is none of my business."
"Okay, I wish you success." Guan Mingyue looked at the distraught Xia Zhitang with some helplessness, "Meet a woman who can bring down the Su family with you."
"It's just luck." Xia Zhitang felt as if it was a dream when he recalled everything that happened.
"Believe me, luck is also a part of strength." Guan Mingyue raised her glass and touched Xia Zhitang's. "A smart woman will never have bad luck."
When Lin Jingming called, Xia Zhitang had already fallen asleep on the table.
Guan Mingyue glanced at Lin Jingming's name jumping on the phone screen and couldn't help laughing.
"What happened?" Lin Jingming's anxious voice came out as soon as the phone was connected.
"Arguing with my husband." Guan Mingyue's face was full of sarcasm. "Mr. Lin, you're pursuing her very closely."
"I have a project that I need to contact her urgently. Where is she?" The voice on the other end of the phone returned to its usual cold tone.
"Old Cheng's territory is safe." Guan Mingyue leaned against the soft back of the sofa with her long legs crossed.
"I'll take you home." There was a noisy rummaging sound from the other end of the phone.
"Mr. Lin, do you want tomorrow's headlines to say that the wife of a famous movie star is having an affair with a co-director?" Guan Mingyue's expression instantly turned cold. "If you're smart enough, wait until the person leaves before pursuing him."
There was silence on the other end of the phone for a while: "Thank you for your help."
Guan Mingyue hung up the phone with a sneer and threw Xia Zhitang's phone onto the sofa cushion.
She stood up and poked Xia Zhitang's face: "Red Luan Star is okay."
After saying that, she took out her cell phone from her pocket and called Gu Zian: "Your wife is on Lao Cheng's territory. I've taken her away."
There was silence on the other end of the phone for a while before he slowly spoke: "How is she?"
"If you're curious, come and see for yourself." Seeing the silence on the other end of the phone, Guan Mingyue couldn't help but sneer and said sarcastically, "You know it's you who needs this marriage, not her."
The other end of the phone remained silent for a thousand years, but Guan Mingyue knew he was still listening.
"You should think about it, why her? They're already in their twenties, and either one can survive without the other."
After Guan Mingyue finished speaking, she hung up the phone and turned to look at Xia Zhitang's peaceful sleeping face, her scarlet lips moving slightly.
"Since we share the same suffering..."
