Touching the scene

Touching the scene

"Really? You don't even need to use your household registration book now."

Before boarding the plane, Gu Zian hugged Xia Zhitang and confirmed again and again in her ear. At this moment, his mind was full of the scene of Xia Zhitang calling him "husband" in his ear.

"No, we have to talk to your dad first." Xia Zhitang felt that Gu Zian might not have understood the meaning of marriage. "Zi'an, marriage is not just between two people, it's between two families."

"My dad won't have any objections." Gu Zian was very confident in Xia Zhitang. He knew that Xia Zhitang was never with him just for his family's money.

"Okay, can we find a time to formally discuss this after we've finished filming?" Xia Zhitang insisted, "Now it's time to send our great star, Gu, to board the plane."

"Okay, you promised me." Gu Zian was a little disappointed. "Let's hold our wedding on the island."

"I agree, I agree." Xia Zhitang opened the car door first, "Let's go, Zi'an."

After seeing Gu Zian off, Xia Zhitang returned to his busy daily filming schedule.

As the college entrance examination approaches, the atmosphere in the girls' senior year becomes increasingly tense.

The lights in the school classrooms are kept on all night long, allowing high school students to study in the classroom at any time.

The entire school, including the camera crew, began to act cautiously, for fear of disturbing the candidates who were about to enter the battlefield.

This war among all the high school seniors in the whole country has become an important node in changing their destiny in this school.

The candidates of the girls' high school are well aware that they have a poor foundation and few resources, and only hard work can make up for their innate deficiencies.

At 11pm, although the students in the study room were sleepy, they still used their own methods to stay awake, such as applying cooling oil, snapping their wrists with rubber bands, and putting transparent tape on their eyelids...

The cameramen carefully recorded their exhaustion but determination to fight on, the moths flying towards the light in the lamps, and the teachers who stayed up late with their students for their safety.

Xia Zhitang sat in the corner watching the filming, feeling his eyelids getting more and more sleepy and his head getting more and more stuffy, and he accidentally bumped into the arm of Lin Jingming next to him.

Lin Jingming put his arm around her shoulders to steady her. Seeing that Xia Zhitang was so sleepy that she could hardly open her eyes, he pinched her face and pointed outside the door.

The two of them stood up quietly. Xia Zhitang yawned silently as he walked. Tears of sleepiness filled his eyes, making him look innocent and watery.

When going down the stairs, Xia Zhitang yawned and almost fell down. Fortunately, Lin Jingming was quick to grab her and held her in his arms as they both bumped into the wall.

Xia Zhitang's forehead hit Lin Jingming's nose, and both of them gasped in pain.

"I'm sorry." Xia Zhitang's already watery eyes were filled with tears because of the pain.

"Go to bed quickly, or you'll have to go to the hospital again." Lin Jingming saw that she was really not in the mood, "I've never seen you this sleepy even when I stayed up late before."

Xia Zhitang suspected her period was coming early, but she couldn't say it out loud: "Maybe she was tired from filming in the countryside yesterday."

Lin Jingming stared at Xia Zhitang for a while and said, "Go to the teacher's office and take a nap. I'll call you when it's over."

Xia Zhitang felt a little embarrassed that he was the one holding back.

"Okay, don't get a cold from working yourself to death. Just take a break." Lin Jingming also yawned. "This is much more tiring than on the set. On the set, you're constantly on edge, but here, you're just waiting around for nothing."

"I'll take a nap and come back to take your place?" After the long weekend shoot, everyone was still a little exhausted.

"There's no need. Principal Wang said that the girls usually go back at 1 o'clock. If we go any later, the teachers are afraid that the students won't be able to handle it." Seeing Xia Zhitang standing there and refusing to leave, Lin Jingming pulled her downstairs.

"I can walk by myself." Xia Zhitang wanted to shake off his hand.

"Bullshit, you almost slipped just now." He didn't let her go until they reached the teacher's office door. "Go to sleep. I'll call you after we clear the field. The students will get up in the morning. We can shoot again in two days. They have the same schedule every day anyway."

At 4:30 in the morning, Xia Zhitang's alarm clock started vibrating. After yawning and washing up, she went downstairs with the script sheet and clapperboard.

Breakfast has been delivered to the table and the cameraman is carrying the equipment to load it into the truck.

While eating breakfast, Xia Zhitang went over the content planned for today's filming and the camera allocation table.

When taking the car to school, Lin Jingming just started the car and found that Xia Zhitang had fallen asleep in the passenger seat again.

Xia Zhitang fell asleep during the 5-minute drive. After the cameraman brought out the equipment, Lin Jingming went over to pinch Xia Zhitang's face.

"Your sleeping quality is pretty good. You fall asleep as soon as you get in the car." Lin Jingming couldn't help but wonder if the filming schedule was too intense recently, and Xia Zhitang could really sleep anywhere.

"I'm going to take a long vacation after filming," Xia Zhitang said while yawning, "The work and rest schedule at this girls' high school is so harsh, it's even more tiring than filming a movie."

"It's definitely more tiring than filming with me." Lin Jingming said as he tested the equipment, "They sleep late, get up early, and have exams every day. At least I don't catch you shooting night scenes every day."

The sound of roosters crowing could be heard in the distance. Lin Jingming raised his eyebrows and said, "You get up earlier than a rooster and sleep later than a monkey."

"Isn't this your schedule in high school?"

Xia Zhitang couldn't help but recall her high school days when her father often took her to school in the morning light. Although her mother was not in good health at that time, her parents still insisted on picking her up.

"Me? I live next door to the school." Lin Jingming said with some pride, "And what does morning exercises have to do with me? I only go to class before the first period starts."

Xia Zhitang looked up at Lin Jingming and said, "I will have to endure all the hardships I didn't experience in high school after becoming a director."

“I love it!”

Xia Zhitang glanced at the dark campus: "They are trying to change their fate."

"For a gender that is not expected or supported, the only way to eradicate poverty is to tear open flesh and blood." Lin Jingming sighed as he looked at the red flag flying on the playground of the girls' high school.

The sky in the east was pale as Principal Wang turned on the power in the senior dormitory.

The light cut through the darkness. Principal Wang took a whistle and blew it while knocking on the doors of the girls' dormitory one by one.

The girls rushed to the bathroom with messy hair and basins in their hands.

Xia Zhitang thought that a long time from now, these girls would probably thank him for working so hard.

After finishing his history class, Xia Zhitang met Director Feng in the corridor. After the two greeted each other, Director Feng suddenly slapped his forehead.

"Teacher Xia, I forgot to tell you that after the last mock exam, there will be a regular high school stress relief and complaining session."

Xia Zhitang didn't dare to delay and ran downstairs to find Lin Jingming.

"A stress-relieving, rant-fest? Right now?" Lin Jingming felt his head pounding. "Why didn't you tell me earlier? Camera! Sound engineer! Lighting! Hurry and get the equipment to the senior classroom!"

When the class bell rang, Lin Jingming hurriedly arranged several camera positions and didn't even have time to turn on the lights.

Xia Zhitang caught Principal Wang who had just walked to the door, quickly pinned the microphone to her collar, and hid the wire and transmitter.

When Principal Wang was giving a speech, Lin Jingming heard normal sound from the monitoring headphones and couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.

Principal Wang wrote the words "Stress Relief and Complaint Conference" neatly on the blackboard, then turned around and glanced at the students who were sitting at their desks with haggard faces.

"Classmates, we won't be doing exercises, taking exams, or checking answers in this class. We'll be having a class meeting."

The students exchanged weak glances, and everyone looked a little dazed.

"I know how dizzy you feel when you review late at night, I know how aggrieved you feel when you have to get up early every day, and I know how anxious you feel when you have to hand in your mock exam papers." Principal Wang slowly scanned every student present. Some of the children had already lowered their heads and were secretly wiping away tears.

Lin Jingming suddenly realized that the theme of this class meeting was the students, and quietly directed the cameramen in the back row to switch to the front to capture close-ups, leaving only one cameraman to take a picture of Principal Wang.

Xia Zhitang showed his cell phone to Lin Jingming, and the assistant on the screen replied that he was bringing up the radio equipment.

After the equipment was connected, Principal Wang had already livened up the atmosphere by making some self-deprecating comments, which made the students laugh and cry.

"Principal Wang, why do we have it so hard?" a sensitive female student burst out first. "I have to help take care of my younger brother at home, and I'm not very smart. I know studying is helpful, but it's really tiring!"

"But you've already sat here, persisting for three years without giving up. You're not stupid, it's just that we started too late compared to students with better conditions." Principal Wang patted her shoulder. "Now, you're standing on the same playing field with many people who have better conditions than you. This is because of your tenacity, and this is also the shining point of all of us."

"I don't want to get married in exchange for a dowry. I want to go to a big city and meet more and more people!" another girl yelled angrily.

"I don't want to work in a factory. I don't want to marry someone there and have kids early. I want to be like the girls on TV, sitting in a cubicle typing away on a keyboard, and going shopping and eating with friends on weekends!" A girl cried and slammed her hands on the table. "Why? Why should our lives just rot in the mud? I don't believe in fate. I want to make my own life!"

"Yes, you can all do it." Principal Wang said while wiping his tears.

"Isn't it just getting up early and studying late? I can do it. I have suffered so much, what does this matter to me? Studying means you will reap rewards if you endure hardships. The hardships at home will be just like coptis chinensis even if you endure them all. At least you can make a living for yourself by enduring hardships!" Another student said with a firm look in his eyes, wiping tears from his hands that were covered with red marks.

In the classroom, the students were crying, yelling, and expressing their opinions. Xia Zhitang, who was standing at the door of the classroom, couldn't help but turn around, squatted on the ground, covering his mouth and crying.

She saw her own reflection in her students, and she also denounced the unfairness of fate.
