The crows circled atop the withered tree, their sharp beaks gleaming coldly. The lead crow suddenly swooped down, its claws aimed straight at Qi Xu's face: "Get out of the Misty Swamp! No outsider should even think about messing with us!"
Qi Xu was prepared and easily dodged the attack, then turned around and kicked back, saying, "You talk a big game, but now that the Sleeping Beast is here, I hope you'll have the same attitude."
The counter-kick move... was quite human-like, not like a move used by a big black bird. So the poisonous crow was startled and staggered as it was kicked, its wings flapping and hitting the dead tree trunk with a dull thud.
It steadied itself, its bright black eyes fixed on Qi Xu. "Do you have to make things so difficult for us? This habitat isn't suitable for you big blackbirds. Do you have to go to such lengths?"
Qi Xu then calmly and slowly said, "I'm not here to seize territory. Our Blackbird clan has no way to survive in the Misty Swamp."
The crow's expression faltered slightly. "Then why are you flying over here so aggressively?! If you're not here to take over territory, do you mean you're here to catch up with me?!"
Qi Xu didn't beat around the bush at all, and said frankly, "Our Great Black Bird Clan wants to cooperate with you to jointly resist the Sleeping Beast and kill it."
The crow almost thought it had misheard, and stood there in shock for several seconds before bursting into maniacal laughter. "Are you crazy, or am I deaf?"
Qi Xu didn't rush to say anything. After it finished laughing, he pointed to the dilapidated scene behind it.
The crow's laughter stopped abruptly. Following Qi Xu's finger, they saw that most of the reeds at the edge of the swamp had fallen over, and several bottomless ravines were embedded in the black mud, the traces left by the giant beast as it crawled through.
The nearby bushes were charred black, and several young crows huddled among the broken branches, their feathers ruffled and their eyes filled with fear.
In just a few days, the tribe lost more than half of its members. Those few crows were saved only by the desperate efforts of everyone, and this was less than a month after the sleeping giant beast had just awakened.
Based on past experience, it will remain active for at least another three months. If it happens again, the Poison Crow clan is probably not far from extinction.
Qi Xu could see the sadness and helplessness in its eyes. After all, the black bird clan was in an even worse state, with only 6 surviving.
"cooperate?"
The raven's voice carried a hint of wariness and resentment: "Your Blackbird clan has always been solitary. Why are you suddenly saying you want to cooperate and fight against the Sleeping Beast?"
"I am the new patriarch of the Great Blackbird Clan."
"Understood."
Then came a long silence. After a long while, Poison Crow seemed to finally make up his mind, "How many forces have you united?"
"You are the first."
"Why? Our two clans didn't have a good relationship before. I think we had a big fight last year, right? If you are the clan leader, then this scar on my wing should be from your mother."
Poison Crow looked somewhat dissatisfied, but Qi Xu could see that he was tempted, so he smiled and said, "It's precisely because we've fought before that I naturally want to win the support of the strongest first."
"Hahaha, good! Go ahead. When the Poison Crow clan needs to do something, we will never stand idly by."
