Chapter 35: The Ghost Dissipates and a New Day Begins

"Hello, Sir. My name is You Tuantuan. I'm here looking for my brother. Have you seen my brother?"

You Tuantuan squatted nervously beside Colin's desk. He had a small cloth bag slung across his body, which contained the jewel ring given to him by the earl, ready to take it out to bribe at any time.

Ke Lin leaned back in his chair and laughed non-stop. When he had laughed enough, he tapped the bunny's head with his fingertips. "I won't embarrass you, dear. Just answer me, am I better looking than him?"

As he said this, he pointed to Lancelot beside him.

You Tuantuan looked at him awkwardly for a long time, thinking that whether he could see his brother was up to him. He bowed slightly to Lancelot and moved to Colin's side guiltily.

Kelin wagged his tail happily: "Looks like I win after all."

Lancelot snorted softly, "Of course it's you. After all, you're still pretty even at your age."

Colin's smile froze, but one of the kids was still staring at him eagerly. He could only suppress a discontented "tsk" and raised his chin towards a door. "He's in the room, go find him."

"Thank you! I'm going to find my brother!"

You Tuantuan jumped into Lancelot's open palm, eager to get in.

The room was dimly lit. Youan leaned his head against the window, his eyes lowered in a daze. The hazy light and shadow enveloped him, making him seem even more desolate and lonely than the night.

He sighed sadly, put the thing between his fingertips to his slightly open lips, and bit it gently -

"Bang bang."

The crispy cheese biscuit sticks crumbled into powder in his mouth.

Lancelot's heart slowly dropped.

"Who taught you to eat it like this? Don't pinch it between your fingers." Lancelot frowned, picked up the packaging bag next to him and threw it aside.

Youan turned around under his gaze, pursing his lips awkwardly.

Perhaps because they were afraid of being stabbed in the back of the neck again, or perhaps for some other reason, no one wanted to continue the argument that had started before they lost consciousness.

They looked at each other quietly for a few seconds, until Youan looked away and noticed You Tuantuan jumping onto the windowsill.

Lancelot considerately left them some private space and turned to leave.

As soon as the door closed, You Tuantuan blinked and his hairy chest began to rise and fall.

"round and round?"

Youan was stunned and subconsciously reached out to pick him up.

Unexpectedly, You Tuantuan suddenly twisted her butt to avoid him. Looking at him, her black eyes were filled with tears, trembling and shaking, and finally she couldn't bear the burden and rolled out many small water droplets.

"I've been waiting for you for two days! You didn't come back for two whole days!"

You Tuan Tuan puffed out her chubby cheeks and sobbed as she spoke, "I also had a nightmare. I dreamed that you were bullied by a bad boss, went to the garbage dump, got injured, and fainted on the side of the road. No one cared..."

He became more and more excited as he spoke, his voice hoarse, and he even started coughing violently, "Cough, cough, cough! I still can't see you when I wake up... I'm so scared..."

Youan opened his mouth and heard a hoarse cough. His heart seemed to be tightly gripped by an invisible hand, and he felt guilty and distressed.

He quickly stroked You Tuan Tuan's back, his voice low and apologetic: "I'm sorry, Tuan Tuan, I was wrong, it's my fault."

"Apologizing is useless. I'm angry. I'm so angry!"

You Tuan Tuan twitched as if the frame was dropped, and pushed You An's hand away with his claws, "You can, you can not want mine, but you can't make me worry... wuwuhiccups."

The last words were drowned out by sobs of grievance.

The words "You don't have to do without me" stabbed Youan's heart, as if he was hit by a heavy hammer.

He was silent for a few seconds, then lifted You Tuan Tuan's head and said in a very dry voice, "Don't say that. I won't abandon you, ever."

You Tuantuan shed tears silently and wiped them by grabbing You An's sleeve.

You An didn't know how to coax children. He waited until You Tuantuan wiped away his tears, then leaned over and nuzzled him gently with the tip of his nose. "I'm sorry. This won't happen again. I was wrong, really wrong. I'll always be with you."

You Tuantuan shook his ears, and the honey-like promises gradually covered the bitterness in his heart. He pulled away You An's palm, jumped in, curled up into a ball, and even buried his head in it.

After a long while, You An finally heard You Tuantuan's low voice: "Brother, if I can only live for ten years, I hope to be with you every day."

You An's brows immediately furrowed: "This is not a good assumption. You can live for many years."

"Then you can too... Hey..." You Tuantuan raised his little head, with a hint of cautious expectation, his voice as thin as a feather, "One hundred years, one thousand years, ten thousand years... Long live the Rabbit King!"

"It's been too long." Youan shook his head and couldn't help but smiled. "I'll turn into a rabbit monster."

"Hey..." You Tuantuan was immediately amused by this odd description, his small body trembling with laughter. He tucked in his paws, tried to prop up his upper body, and leaned over affectionately, touching foreheads with You An.

It's just a simple interaction, but it can make You Tuantuan feel the most fearless and at ease.

The metal door opened with a click, and as Youan walked out with the sleeping You Tuantuan, two pairs of eyes were cast in his direction.

Youan was a little nervous and stared silently at the inspector who looked a bit like Lancelot.

Although the other party also had the usual smile of the Vansel family, his aura was more fierce, as if there was a lot of evil in his heart that was bubbling up unconcealedly.

"Hey, don't look at me like I'm a villain." Colin said with an elusive smile, motioning him to come over and sit down. "I just want to ask, there's good news and bad news, which one do you want to hear first?"

Lancelot turned his head away with disinterest at his boring opening remarks, hiding the wariness in his eyes well.

After You An sat down, he thought for a long time and honestly, then held You Tuan Tuan's ear and whispered, "It's bad."

"Yinchuan ran away, and we are chasing him with all our might." Ke Lin's voice was calm, and he didn't even emphasize it deliberately, but these few words hit You Anxin like a cold hammer.

Before Euan's face turned pale, Lancelot lazily sat down beside him and swung his tail heavily in Colin's direction.

"The good news is that since the trading gateway has been shut down, you can take this opportunity to shed your ghost identity." Colin glanced at him and then said slowly, "The military will provide you with comprehensive protection until you are apprehended in Yinchuan."

Youan's eyes widened in disbelief.

After all, he had secretly modified a starship. You An couldn't believe that the inspector would let him off so lightly: "You don't intend to hold me accountable? My behavior, no matter what, violated..."

"Ah, how should I put it..." Colin touched his chin, leaned forward slightly, and his eyes fell on the mechanical bomb on the table. Exquisite weapons like this filled the toolbox of this young mechanic.

There were complex emotions in his lavender eyes, including scrutiny and evaluation, but what ultimately settled was an almost pure appreciation.

"Granton's code is indeed very substantial, but sometimes reality is like a tangled web of starship wiring. It's hard to make sense of it just by looking at the rules." Colin stood up and said slowly before leaving the office, "If possible, I'd prefer that these things of yours be used elsewhere."

Youan stared blankly at Colin's departing figure. After making sure no one came to handcuff him, he asked dazedly, "What does he mean?"

"Is it hard to understand? He hopes that you will serve the military after graduation." Lancelot raised an eyebrow and tilted his head to look at him with a smile.

But that is the military headquarters, the place where power in the Orc galaxy is most directly felt!

You An pointed at himself stupidly: "Me? Can I?"

"Why not? Don't let the past hold you back, and don't let the shadows of those scum consume you."

Lancelot paused, put away the inappropriate smile on his face, and said very apologetically, "Because Youan, you have always been amazing."

The deep and firm voice went straight to my heart, like a warm current that dispelled the fear and coldness that lingered in my heart.

You An murmured, "If you had said that earlier, I wouldn't have had to butt my head against you."

"Ha...thank you for your understanding!"

Because of his injuries, Colin arranged for Youan to stay in the treatment room for a few days. During this period, he took online classes and did not fall behind in his homework. He also cooperated with Colin to restore his own modification data of the Noah and submitted it to the other party after sorting it out.

After his physical parameters recovered, he packed up his things and prepared to return to Kagano. Unexpectedly, the people who came to pick him up were Enzo and the tiger cub Aseya who was holding his tail obediently.

"Ji Qiao asked Lancelot about you. He was very worried and angry. Anyway, he prepared a big table of food and is waiting for you in the store." Enzo was waiting for the maids to pack his luggage boredly. As soon as he finished explaining, the children next to him took the opportunity to squeeze over.

Asaiah, who was holding You Tuantuan high in his arms, echoed the words of the man who was trying to educate the wayward adult: "Yes, yes, you have to accept criticism."

Youan blinked obediently, looked up and turned around, and was surprised to find that someone seemed to be absent. He asked with a little doubt: "Where is Lancelot?"

Speaking of these days, Lancelot first delivered a lot of daily necessities, but then he never showed up again.

"Him?" Enzo slapped away Asia's hand that was pulling his tail and replied nonchalantly, "He's getting scolded at home."

now--

Lancelot was naked from the waist up at this time, lying on the sofa in the living room in a mess. Waves of stabbing pain came from his back. Even the most advanced therapeutic device could not make the whip marks covering his muscles disappear immediately.

The pain was secondary. What made him depressed was that he didn't look good at all.

But he deserved this beating, just like the scolding from his father just now. The consequence of acting impulsively might not be able to protect the people he wanted to protect, and might even drag the entire family into the vortex of the storm. However, these troubles that troubled him could be resolved with just a few instructions from Colin.

Lancelot pursed his lips, closed his eyes silently, and his huge ears gradually drooped.

He dozed off for a while, or perhaps for a long time, in a half-asleep state, until he was awakened by the specific communication ringtone, and then he lazily opened his eyelids.

"Hello? Lance, are you there?" A soft voice floated out, and the limp fox ears stood up.

Lancelot picked up the water cup on the ground and took a sip through the straw. "How strange! This is the first time you've contacted me on your own initiative. What's going on? Did Boss Ji scold you and make you cry?"

"No, Boss Ji was very gentle. He just dragged me to watch a lot of anti-gangster propaganda films." You An told him that he had eaten a lot of delicious meals tonight and brought two boxes of sauce-flavored pancakes back to the dormitory...

Seeing the topic drifting further and further away, he remembered his purpose in time and casually reminded, "When will you be back? The dormitory building is about to close."

Lancelot chuckled when he heard this, feeling that things had suddenly changed. "Are you waiting for me?"

You An answered simply, "I'm waiting. I wanted to eat the new Jiangxiang pancake with you, but I'm a little sleepy waiting."

"Okay, then open the door."

Youan immediately put on his slippers and ran to the door. As soon as he opened the door, a cold wind blew in his face, even blowing the rabbit ears on his head back.

You An didn't close the door, and he peeked out foolishly: "Where are you?"

Lancelot chuckled softly, until it hurt the wound on his back. He gasped and said, "Aren't you sleepy? It's a good time to wake up."

Youan: "..." Then you are very bad.

"Go to bed early and don't listen to Enzo's nonsense. I'm just going home to have a meal and will be back later."

"Oh..." Youan dragged his voice, but didn't hang up. He quickly added, "Tuantuan went to stay at Boss Ji's house. Anyway, I'm fine. How long will it take you to finish? I can come pick you up!"

"Pick me up?"

"Yes! I have a flying boat!"

Euan's crisp voice came, and without waiting for Lancelot to answer, he hung up the call.

Lancelot blinked in surprise, then quickly turned over and sat up, constantly ordering the maids to get painkillers and new clothes. He hurriedly ran to the bathroom to dress up for a long time, and was not satisfied until he looked no longer injured.

He sprayed himself with some light perfume. Even though he knew it would take more than half an hour for Kagano to reach the Vanser family's manor, it did not stop him from running to the gate to wait.

But Lancelot obviously overestimated Euan's speed, and he waited for an hour.

He leaned idly against the wall and stared at the starry sky, wondering if this slow rabbit was playing a trick on him, when he suddenly noticed a black dot in the air, getting closer and closer to him.

The dwarf rabbit orc, wearing a funny helmet, rode his battle-hardened flying boat, and headed towards the gorgeous and retro manor.

Black smoke would occasionally come out from behind his butt, but it didn't stop him from waving at Lancelot like a tout.

Euan, Euan.

Lancelot muttered the name silently, and when the figure gradually filled his sight, it felt like his heart was about to fly away.

"Give you a helmet, otherwise you will be fined."

Yuan threw it casually, and a lump of metal fell into Lancelot's hands along a parabola.

Before he could honk the horn to urge him on, the seat behind him was pushed down and a pair of arms were wrapped around his waist.

The flying boat's red lights flashed instantly, and it wobbled and rose half a meter.

Youan complained quietly, "You're so heavy."

Lancelot curled his lips, put his arm around his waist and urged him: "Are you going to leave or not? The dormitory will be closed soon!"

You An said "Oh", and because it was his first time carrying people, he said dissatisfiedly: "Don't rush me, be careful not to fall."

Lancelot was amused by his nervous look. He hugged him tightly and deliberately suppressed his laughter: "Mr. Driver, but your tail is tickling me. Does it count as harassing the passengers?"

I didn’t!

Youan angrily warned loudly: "I'm going to throw you down!"

Then the embarrassed and angry dwarf rabbit orc frowned and suddenly increased his speed, letting the other party's suppressed laughter blend into the gentle night breeze.

They all knew that the sunshine of a new day was about to come, and the ghosts that had been wandering for a long time would dissipate tonight.
