Chapter 20
Xi Miao didn't go to see how the Dark Forest dealt with Brother Cai.
There were many messy things on the ground, which looked like they were thrown out by Brother Lai Cai to hit people.
Xi Miao spotted something good.
It was a piece of paper that was specially placed in a container; Xi Miao had also found it in a treasure chest.
This thing is light and was blown here by the cold wind, along with several other things.
A small cloth bag the size of a walnut, and a childishly designed hair clip.
Xi Miao stuffed it into her backpack without any hesitation.
The small cloth bag contained a piece of gold, which was probably earned by Brother Cai when he sold water. The hair clip was a useful prop; it could make one invisible for one minute after being pinned to the head. It could be used three times, but only two were left.
I made a profit!
This guy is richer than she thought. Xi Miao looked back and saw the things scattered on the ground.
When Dark Jungle rushed back, he saw Xi Miao bent over picking things up from the ground and asked, "Why are you picking up his junk?"
"This isn't junk, it's a good thing."
Xi Miao glanced at him and, seeing that he was still puzzled, kindly explained a few things.
"You can get a lot of useful items from the treasure chest. There are items among the things that Brother Cai threw out."
She took out the hair clip she had just received and handed it to Dark Jungle, saying, "Take a look at it for a moment, then give it back to me."
Dark Jungle wasn't stupid. On the contrary, as an adult who had just passed his rebellious phase, he loved playing video games and immediately understood when he heard the word "item".
Upon taking the item handed to him by Xi Miao, Dark Jungle exclaimed in surprise.
"Holy crap! This is amazing!"
He seemed to have thought of something, smacked his lips, and said regretfully, "One minute is just too short."
Xi Miao pulled the hair clip back. "I don't mind it being too short, give it back to me!"
The Dark Forest was intrigued; he had never seen props before, and after learning about such magical things, he even took the initiative to gather up the things that Brother Lai Cai had thrown out.
Of course, it's not all props inside; most of it consists of ordinary daily necessities.
They searched high and low in the dark jungle but only found one item.
"Holy crap! This is an amazing artifact!"
Hearing his voice, Xi Miao glanced over curiously. Dark Jungle held the object high in his hand, and Xi Miao saw it immediately, unable to help but laugh.
The item he was holding was something Xi Miao had obtained in her dream; it was arguably the most useless prop.
Karaoke microphone for adjusting sound quality.
In short, it's a microphone with built-in audio editing capabilities.
Even if you're tone-deaf, singing with this microphone will sound just as good as a professional singer's; it's a true miracle for tone-deaf people.
But for survival on a dangerous train, this thing is of little use.
Seeing Dark Jungle excitedly holding the microphone and touching it around, Xi Miao didn't dampen his enthusiasm. "If you found it, it's yours. Put it away. Time is running out."
It's been 12 hours in total, and 2 hours have already passed without me seeing any resources.
If this continues, we may end up empty-handed.
She walked quickly forward, showing no intention of waiting in the dark jungle.
Dark Jungle followed on its own, walking behind Xi Miao like her little tail.
Xi Miao frowned. "The ice field is so vast, aren't you going to look for resources?"
He pointed to his kidneys with a self-righteous air, "I'm injured."
"Then you should go back and recover from your injuries. What are you doing following me?"
"To protect you."
Xi Miao couldn't help but look at him in surprise, "It seems like I was the one protecting you just now."
Dark Jungle prides himself on being a man, always having the bigger fist since childhood. Even after having a sworn brother to follow, he never felt inferior to others.
But Xi Miao ended up saving him.
He was extremely embarrassed; his face was so hot it could practically fry an egg, yet he still wouldn't change his tune.
"That's why I'm following you. It's the rule: repay kindness with kindness and revenge with revenge."
"Alright, loyal bro," Xi Miao patted his shoulder, and seeing his pale face from blood loss, tossed him a pill. "Let's make it clear first, the treasure chest we find is mine, and we'll split the rest of the resources in half."
Dark Jungle felt embarrassed to accept her medicine, but the wound really needed immediate treatment.
After hesitating for a few seconds, he accepted Xi Miao's offer, "I'll pay you back a hundred times later!"
Xi Miao didn't stand on ceremony with him, "Want something else? What would I need so much growth factor gel for?"
"Okay!" Dark Jungle readily agreed, "I'll definitely pay you back later!"
This ice field is so barren, it seems like there's nothing there but ice.
Xi Miao walked for another hour, but still couldn't find anything that could be called a resource.
Unable to endure the darkness any longer, he sat down on the ground.
"Boss, is there really a treasure chest here?"
He no longer expected to find anything else; he just wanted to find the treasure chest for Xi Miao and then return to the train to rest.
This icy plain is no place for humans to live.
He walked through the dark jungle carrying a torch, his body still stiff and rigid, like a robot, making it difficult to move.
“Definitely, there’s at least one bronze treasure chest at every station,” Xi Miao said, adding that this knowledge would become widespread after a few stations.
Platforms like this, which accommodate multiple players, will refresh treasure chests based on the number of players.
However, treasure chests in these locations are often hidden very well, making them difficult for ordinary people to find.
Therefore, when many people are at the same platform, there are often too many monks and not enough porridge, with many people vying for a single treasure chest.
Although Xi Miao only encountered the two of them, she was certain that there were more than just the three of them in this space.
It's extremely rare for a crowded platform like this to have only a handful of players; it usually starts with double digits.
With so many treasure chests, how come I can't see a single one!
Xi Miao felt there was a problem and that they shouldn't blindly move forward.
She sat down beside the dark forest, saw his torch, and casually took out two squid from her backpack to grill.
The belly of the creature in the dark jungle rumbled appropriately.
He was extremely embarrassed, feeling as if he had lost all face in his entire life today.
Xi Miao saved him and gave him medicine today, so he couldn't very well ask her to give him food in return. Dark Jungle had no face to make such a request, so he handed the torch in his hand to Xi Miao, took out another torch, and got up.
"You rest here for a while, I'll go check if there are any clues over there."
In reality, he had no clue what to do; he just wanted to slip away before mealtime and then wander back after Xi Miao finished eating.
Wandering alone on the ice field is even more eerie.
Perhaps because of his injury, the man in the dark jungle was a little less courageous than usual.
He carried a steel bar for self-defense, and as he moved forward, he casually struck at the ice mounds on the ice field.
Some ice is solid, while some ice is so brittle that a large chunk can break off with a single blow.
I played a few rounds of Dark Jungle and found it quite relaxing, so I started playing bigger and bigger moves.
The smaller ice lumps around him were all shattered into pieces by his cruel hands.
He felt that was enough and walked back.
Unexpectedly, while Xi Miao was eating squid skewers, she awkwardly turned around and bumped into the big block of ice next to her.
With that one snap, a crack appeared in the solid block of ice, startling anyone who glanced casually at the dark jungle.
"Damn it! Who the hell hid here?!"
