Chapter 39 Watching You Die

Chapter 39 Watching You Die

As soon as the warm body left, Lin Jingru's subconscious broke free from her drowsy state, and the figure she could never hold onto drifted away and finally dissipated.

thump!

He opened his phoenix eyes and glanced at the cave entrance.

His half-closed, dark eyes were clear and bright; in the dim light, a large, vaguely visible object seemed to be treading on a gun.

She remained calm and observed carefully what the newcomer was.

The mysterious behemoth seemed to be drooping its head, its massive body thrashing wildly. Crack! The gun shattered, and then the chain of bullets swung about, also making a cracking sound as it was being chewed.

A few minutes passed.

Thud! Another machine gun fell to the ground.

The mysterious large creature was moving around, presumably to deal with the second gun.

Just then, a soft moan came from beside her.

The mysterious behemoth visibly froze, then suddenly rose high, hurling two fierce glints of light at her.

As her phoenix eyes gradually adjusted to the darkness, she saw a dark mass materialize into limbs. It moved slowly and hesitantly, then transformed into a large basin-shaped face. Two round, blunt objects stood upright on its head, trembling from time to time, as if trying to determine its location.

Huff!

The pungent, pungent scent unique to wild beasts assaults the senses.

Bear……

The cave became cramped and stuffy, and my back felt cold and damp.

He grabbed two restless panda cubs, his knuckles taut, ready to throw them at any moment.

He scanned the cave entrance, estimated the location of the guns, and formed a preliminary plan in his mind.

Turning back, the bear's body had inexplicably swelled up a size, almost blocking the entrance to the cave.

"Huffing and puffing."

A gust of hot, foul wind blew up from the ground.

A low growl came from the darkness.

It's been discovered.

The thought pierced the darkness, and instinctively, I grabbed one of the panda cubs and flung it far away. The cub landed with a thud and whimpered in pain.

The bear hesitated for a moment, then suddenly changed its attack and charged toward the source of the roar.

The cave was shaking violently.

Not daring to stop for a moment, they charged towards the opening revealed behind the enormous creature.

As soon as I stepped out of the cave, the smell of damp earth after the rain washed away the fishy smell inside. My toes landed, and "thud!" I kicked something hard.

Machine gun! He tossed aside the troublesome panda cub and bent down to reach out.

The moment I picked up the gun, a tingling sensation shot through the back of my head. Behind me, out of sight, a gaping maw with blood-red teeth lunged at me.

He tumbled down the slope, clutching his gun.

"roar!--"

Having been tricked and failing to catch its prey, the bear grew even angrier and slammed its paws wildly on the ground.

Lin Jingru, who had rolled a short distance away, immediately stood up with her gun in her arms, hoisted it onto her shoulder, and moved with unusually heavy steps, dragging a long chain of bullets between her feet.

She suddenly realized that taking them with her to escape was tantamount to suicide.

The bear behind him roared again.

The leaves trembled.

He turned around, aimed his gun at the roaring bear charging towards him, and slid his wet fingertips across the automatic scanning device.

The veins on his forehead were prominent, and he was sweating profusely.

The thunderous noise grew closer, and the mud beneath our feet trembled.

A giant shadow leaped through the air.

My finger slipped again.

"Damn it!!"

His phoenix eyes nearly burst open.

Without a second thought, he raised the thin muzzle of his gun, his dark eyes flashing with blood as he stared intently at the top of his head.

At the critical moment.

The giant shadow suddenly flew overhead, looking as if it had been knocked away by an external force.

Without thinking too much, she quickly scrambled away from where she was. A quick glance revealed a dirty, furry ball trembling and whimpering.

A fleeting moment—the panda cub tripped over its own feet and tumbled down the slope behind it.

From behind came a chaotic commotion: the heavy thud of rackets being swung and shouts of men baring their teeth.

He hid in a dense patch of grass, parted the long leaves, and secretly observed.

Under the dappled moonlight, two bears were fighting fiercely. One was a black bear with a stripe of light-colored golden fur on its neck and chest, while the other was black and white, matching the color scheme of the crying cub nearby.

His dark eyes held a hint of doubt.

How did the mother panda get here? How did she get here?

Two beastly roars mingled in the jungle, one gradually weakening.

The winner will be decided immediately.

He glanced at the spot where he had almost died, and saw a lone machine gun lying there.

He glanced at the battle situation one last time, darted out of his hiding place, and nimbly dragged his gun back.

The place where the two bears fought.

The mother panda suddenly roared.

The black bear let out a whimper, turned and ran, stumbling and destroying many plants along the way. Some of the fur on its plump back was wet and clumped together.

Sniffing the air, I could smell the stench of blood.

Once the mother panda was sure the enemy was far away, she slowly turned around and hobbled toward her cub.

The mother gently touched the baby's nose with her mouth, licked it with her tongue, and the baby's whimpering stopped. The baby then waddled after its mother's tall body and returned to the cave.

Halfway there, another black and white cub, attracted by the scent, ran happily toward them.

The mother panda also touched her cub's furry head with her mouth and used her tongue to groom its dirty fur.

A family of three was reunited, but their heartwarming moment was interrupted by a gunman who had been following them.

The mother panda keenly sensed something and turned her head—the machine gun muzzle gleamed coldly.

Bang!

A bullet struck the mother panda in the back instantly.

Then came a soft thud.

Machine gun switching mode.

Before the mother panda could charge in frenziedly, they fired a series of shots at her legs.

Blood and flesh splattered, the body snapped instantly, and the mother panda fell to her knees.

The bloodthirsty, ferocious beast's eyes suddenly cleared; it understood that the person with the gun was not to be trifled with.

It turned back and howled at the two cubs, then turned around and staggered behind them, its massive body deliberately blocking the cubs' escape route.

How can a flesh and blood body dare to fight against a gun, especially since the person wielding the gun is someone it has recently offended?

He glanced around in alarm at the "hunter's" next move.

The man scrambled to his feet, clutching a stick, and found himself standing in a spot bathed in moonlight. His short, silvery-white hair shimmered, colder than the moonlight itself.

The terrifyingly strong long stick came down vertically.

Its deep, dark eyes seemed to have no eyelids, constantly watching their movements.

As the hunter was gradually covered by layers of leaves, half of his body was obscured, and then he suddenly turned around and walked away step by step.

Raising its forelegs and holding its large head high, it observed from afar that the direction the man was moving in was the same direction its defeated bear was fleeing.

Walking on a path carved out by a wounded beast, one foot in the moonlight, the other in the shadow of a tree.

He lifted his foot, glanced down, and saw blood dripping along the edge of his shoe sole.

His gaze slowly rose, sweeping across the muddy road that stretched out before him. The road was a mess, with craters and pools of blood, the air thick with the stench of blood.

The wounded beast is just ahead.

The surrounding forest was quiet, with the occasional chirping of insects. After walking a few dozen steps deeper, I slowed my pace.

She heard heavy breathing.

With the gun barrel slung over his shoulder, he kept his eyes fixed on the undulating black "hills".

The reddish-brown bear's eyes flickered, reflecting her image.

"Put-put-put-put-put!"

Machine gun fire swept through the leaves, blood splattering everywhere.

The moment she fired, she instinctively dropped to the ground, using all her strength to suppress the recoil.

Broken branches and withered leaves fell one after another.

The black bear's bared jaws slowly loosened, and its head, the size of a baby bathtub, tilted to the side, revealing its severed neck, from which blood spurted out.

The gun barrel remained motionless as the body was repeatedly shot several times until its chest and abdomen were torn apart, and its internal organs and intestines spilled out onto the ground.

After the gunshots, the night forest returned to silence, and a barely audible sigh of relief rang out.

In the blink of an eye.

My heart settled for a second, then jumped again.

With a sharp look in his eyes, he surveyed his surroundings, shook his numb arms and shoulders, got up, grabbed the remaining ten or so bullets from the chain, and quickly left the scene.

"Help! I'm here!"

"Dr. Ji, the robot, can you see it?! Ahhhhh, I'm going to die!"

The familiar shouts echoed in the air.

Lin Jingru held her breath to determine her location, fixed her eyes on the left front, and slung her gun over her shoulder as she moved swiftly through the foliage.

Climbing up a high rock, I saw two black bears shaking a thick, large tree.

Li Nai held a forked section of her arm and wept bitterly. Whenever the shaking became severe, she would look up and wave her hand, as if praying to heaven.

When she cried out for help, two black bears under the tree shook the tree vigorously. Once they got excited, they would climb up a section of the tree, look up, and then turn around and jump down.

This back and forth is clearly a deliberate attempt to scare them for fun.

His gaze swept around, finally settling on a secluded spot.

They crept over quietly, carrying guns, smearing themselves with wet mud and rotting leaves on their heads and bodies along the way.

He crouched down in a concealed spot, raised the machine gun, and aimed it at the two black bears about twenty meters away, waiting to see what would happen.

The black bears must have gotten tired of playing. One of them suddenly climbed the tree, moving so fast that it reached Li Nai's feet in the blink of an eye.

Li Nai was forced to jump off the forked tree trunk.

After crashing to the ground, it struggled to escape, but after only a few steps, it was pounced on by a black bear waiting under the tree.

The screams could be heard more than ten meters away.

From some inconspicuous, lush bush, a large, black gun barrel protrudes, with a pair of deep, phoenix-like eyes at the rear of the barrel.

A small flying insect hovered in front of my eyes and landed on my long eyelashes.

One second, two seconds, three seconds...

Without even blinking.

The little flying insect, having made a fool of itself, buzzed away.

Flying past a pair of dark eyes, like a mysterious ancient mirror, they reflected two black bears swinging their claws and tearing, with sharp claw fragments flying everywhere and the sound of bones breaking seemingly right next to their ears.

I want to see you die with my own eyes...

A smile line etched around a face shrouded in shadow.

Recalling the day the zombie riot broke out at the base, her subordinates provided her with a clip of surveillance footage.

The person in the scene was being robbed by a horde of corpses, their intestines spilling out uncontrollably. A shudder ran through them, and the gruesome scene transformed into snowflakes.

As the helicopter swayed during takeoff, she deliberately raised her tablet so that the replay could be seen by her sister behind her.

He glanced back furtively. His deep, unfathomable eyes, framed by European-style sockets, were fixed in a serious gaze, a seriousness that seemed to want to leave a lasting imprint.

He never showed her any seriousness.

The grinding of the molars faded into the sound of the propeller.

She could tolerate the man called her father taking root in her sister's hatred, and she could tolerate always lingering outside the walls of her sister's heart, unable to get in.

It took seven years of hard work to gradually earn her sister's permission to see her, listen to her, and give her instructions.

How could someone who's only been around for two months so easily catch my sister's eye?

I cannot tolerate even a second of it.

This time, they're going to die whether they like it or not.

The knuckles of her fingers gripping the gun were white, the muzzle pointed at the helpless head that swayed with the movement of her body. A pale, blood-stained face turned toward her, its eyes, dry with fear, empty and lifeless.

By some strange twist of fate, our eyes met.

Suddenly, her eyelids drooped, a thought flashed through her mind, and she reluctantly raised her eyes again.

The fingers tensed, and the small wrench emitted a slight chirping sound.

"Bang!"

"Put-put-put-put-put!"

A burst of powerful firepower drowned out the sound of a bullet being fired.

With a blink of her phoenix eyes, as if waking from a dream, she looked in the direction of the source of the firepower.

Two tall, hard-shelled, black zinc-plated robots carried heavy weapons, propelled by casters. Behind them followed an elegant woman in a research uniform.

The gunfire ended quickly. The two massive black bears, as large as hills, were as if they had been thrown into a meat grinder, their flesh, bones, and internal organs scattered and rotten on the ground.

An elegant woman doesn't look at the people on the ground; her reflections sweep across the ground like two mirrors.

With a smile on her face, she strolled over.

"I'm sorry to have startled you, Miss."

The woman half-squatted down and extended a slender hand.

He glanced down at it, then slapped it away.

She got up, looked straight ahead, and walked towards the bloody and disgusting scene.

Ji Fenglan maintained her smile, glanced at the wet mud on her palm, and without changing her expression, rubbed it off with leaves.

On the other side.

Two meters away from the scene, Lin Jingru suddenly stopped. The smell of blood was strong under her breath, and she felt nauseous.

Unable to hold back any longer, he turned his head away and swallowed hard.

Now, a pair of flat shoes has appeared.

"What a pity."

She forced down the last mouthful of nausea. She remained silent.

"They were all quite well evolved, in terms of strength and intelligence. It's a pity that in their struggle to seize the caves they occupied, they ended up with nothing but bones."

Her phoenix eyes sharpened for a second, then returned to their usual cold indifference.

At this moment, a tall robot slid over and reported to Ji Fenglan beside him.

"Report to G Management. The person under surveillance, Li Nai, has been identified as having no vital signs. B026, B035, and B019 also show no vital signs."

"Clean up the site and recycle everything."

Feng Mu followed the robot's movement, asking Ji Fenglan without turning her head, "Don't deal with her yet, put her in your research lab."

Ji Fenglan uttered a question that seemed quite intriguing.

His indifferent gaze swept over the crippled figure lying on the blood-soaked ground.

“I will stay here for a while, until she will not come back to life.”
