Chapter 35 She Chases Her, She Runs Away

Chapter 35 She Chases Her, She Runs Away

"S04 is experiencing body rejection? Is he likely to die on the road?"

"Yes. So, I hope you can wait a little longer and pick them up tomorrow morning."

The white-haired girl with a high ponytail, sitting in the main sofa seat, touched her ring, rubbing the emerald green gem the size of her little fingernail until it looked lustrous.

Ji Fenglan glanced at the ring she had never seen her wear before.

The emerald shimmered with iridescent light, resembling a dewdrop brimming with green liquid.

"good."

Lin Jingru lowered her eyes and carefully examined the ring on her finger.

"I'll only wait half an hour."

He suddenly raised his phoenix eyes and stared at Ji Fenglan, his dark eyes filled with cold light.

“You were already two hours late before I arrived.”

With a slight movement in her eyes behind her gold-rimmed glasses, Ji Fenglan said calmly, "I hope you can be more patient; half an hour is simply not enough for recovery."

Lin Jingru raised her eyebrows and remained silent, her cold gaze intimidating her.

She switched to a polite smile and slowly explained, "Actually, it's my fault. I conducted 156 experiments on her during this period, which led to the current situation."

"Half an hour."

Lin Jingru's attitude was cold and hard. She issued an ultimatum and then ignored Ji Fenglan, raising the emerald ring to examine it in the light.

After failing to reach an agreement, Ji Fenglan glanced at his watch and tapped the leather sofa lightly with his fingers twice.

Excuse me for a moment.

She stood up and was about to leave when she was blocked at the door by Lin Jingru's men.

He turned around and explained politely, "I'll go and urge them to speed things up, so as not to waste your precious time."

"Call up."

Lin Jingru said without turning her head, her gaze still fixed on the ring.

One of his subordinates stepped forward in unison, pointing towards the office, which held the highest level of authority to contact the entire base.

Ji Fenglan didn't say much and calmly walked into the office.

Lin Jingru followed out of the corner of her eye, only turning her gaze away after confirming that he had been urged on the phone.

Ten minutes later, the person walked out of the office.

"Half an hour is definitely not enough. I've spoken to Missy, and she's agreed to wait an hour."

Lin Jingru paused noticeably when she saw the ring, her dark eyes glancing sideways at Ji Fenglan, whose polite and gentle smile seemed even more approachable.

Unexpectedly, Lin Jingru remained calm. She lowered her hand, thought for a moment, and then suddenly stood up.

"I'm very curious about the results of G Management's experiment with S04. Would you mind if I went to observe?"

Lin Jingru verbally sought her master's permission, then strode briskly out the door. She stopped, turned her back, and waited for Ji Fenglan to take her there.

"Of course. But I can't go with you in person."

Ji Fenglan summoned a robot to lead the way.

Lin Jingru remained silent and left with her two subordinates, following the robot.

After the group disappeared from sight, Ji Fenglan returned to her computer screen, which showed that the restrictions had been lifted, tacitly allowing the monitored person, Li Nai, to secretly leave the room.

With unfathomable amber eyes, she quietly watched Li Nai's movements and the live surveillance footage.

She secretly calculated the possibility of the two sides bumping into each other.

"The acting director of the zoo is indeed excellent."

Li Nai had fun.

The patrol robot saluted her, asked no questions, and glided away.

This person wore an official's hat on his head and walked with his head held high and big strides.

Her initial joy had faded, and she suddenly slapped her forehead.

"Oh dear! I forgot to ask where the panda cubs are."

Looking back, the robot had already glided away.

Going back to look for it is unrealistic; time is of the essence.

She forced herself to move forward, praying to bump into another robot, while observing and tapping on the suspicious walls.

The concealment is so meticulous. If it weren't for the base robots, you wouldn't be able to find the doors to each room even after searching for a month. It's like being lost in a maze, circling around the brightly lit white corridor.

Rolling around.

The sound of pulleys came from ahead.

Li Nai's eyes gleamed, like a drooling, crazed zombie, as he charged straight at a wave-like wall.

With palms facing outwards, the voice precedes the person's arrival.

"Please wait!"

Three people followed behind the robot.

The girl in the middle is Lin Jingru.

Hey hey hey!

She slammed on the brakes, turned around instantly, and, trying to convince herself she was just an ordinary employee at the base, tiptoed away against the wall.

"Li Nai!"

The girl behind him shouted.

How could they recognize that!

She swears to God, she never noticed a person turn around in more than a second.

Threatened, their feet moved faster and faster.

—She's not dead?!

Lin Jingru couldn't believe it.

Seeing that Li Nai had already started running away, she hurriedly threw down a sentence.

"You, take them away when the time comes."

The two engaged in a chase in the corridor.

With two swish sounds, it passed one more patrol robot, the same one that had paid homage to Li Nai earlier.

Li Nai was panting heavily, his lungs were taut, and he couldn't help but glance at how far away the "shadow" was when he turned the corner.

As it turned out, that one glance led to disaster.

My ankle was suddenly struck hard.

Her left foot, writhing in pain, couldn't keep up with the rhythm, and she flailed her arms, crashing headfirst into a wall.

The instant she fell, she saw the white wall turn transparent, and a layer of cool white mist passed through her face.

Li Nai cried out in pain, her mind jolting.

It sensed that the host was nearby.

He quickly got up and looked around.

Patches of bamboo groves are faintly visible in the mist.

This place looks familiar.

A soft rebuke.

Someone lunged at her on the back.

People piled on top of each other and lay face down on the muddy ground again.

Li Nai raised his face, grimacing, and shoved the wet mud that was obscuring his eyes.

A strand of silvery-white hair fell across her eyes.

This is……

Lin Jingru is on top of her!

He reached out to pull at her hair, but as soon as he touched it, the hair was pulled away.

Then her scalp tightened and stung, forcing her to tilt her chin up.

Out of the corner of my eye, I caught a glimpse of a high nose that was straight, thin, and sharp like a sword blade.

His cold, phoenix-like eyes stared intently, and his breath was icy cold as he spoke.

"You-are-not-dead."

Li Nai's lips trembled from the cold, and she stammered out the words "Hello."

Unseen by anyone, she quietly scooped up a handful of soil, just in case.

"How did you get here!"

He grabbed his hair roots and shook his head vigorously.

"Well, um, someone brought me here..." she said, deliberately lowering her voice.

Lin Jingru tilted her head closer to her ear, taking advantage of the opportunity.

Snap!

He slapped a handful of wet mud hard across the other person's face.

"screw you!"

He grabbed a strand of white hair with his backhand, gritted his teeth, and pulled it down fiercely.

With a cry of pain, the hand holding the hair root loosened its grip.

So all you do is pull hair and fight!

She quickly got up, hunched over the person on her back, covered her head, and rushed forward without caring about anything else.

"Damn it! It hurts so much!"

A clump of black hair, intertwined with silver strands, drifted away from his hand.

With tears in her eyes, she ran away frantically and quickly disappeared into the white mist.

I don't know how long I ran, but the fog gradually thinned, and the green of bamboo filled my eyes.

He clutched his chest.

The host's senses are becoming increasingly intense.

She set her sights on a particular direction and continued to break off bamboo branches along the way to mark her way back.

A cave is hidden beneath a towering tree.

Li Nairen carefully crawled into the deep cave to investigate.

Two black and white balls were sleeping on their stomachs.

"Host."

She called out to one of them, and the other, as if startled awake, swayed and looked up at her curiously.

She reached out with one hand to wake the panda cub.

The panda cub gave two fierce cries and nudged her hand with its fluffy head, like a little pig throwing a tantrum.

I never expected that my forward lunge attack would be a blatant handing the ball to someone else.

She grabbed the back of her neck and slowly and gently pulled her out of the cave, then tucked one hand into her bosom.

"Let's go find that damned woman, Qi Shuihan."

Back off with your buttocks facing outwards.

Half of her body was exposed outside, but something stepped on her buttocks, blocking her from going out.

Stick your butt out and resist the force from your hips.

His face turned red, but he still couldn't get out, and he was even kicked hard.

foot?

"Lin Jingru?!"

She turned her head and called out tentatively, then caught sight of a long leg stepping on the ground.

The people outside didn't say anything, but kicked her in the butt a few more times.

Or just jump up and kick!

"Lin Jingru! You #%%#&$@*"

She unleashed a torrent of ancestral curses.

The cave was cramped and the air was poorly ventilated; she almost yelled herself unconscious.

If hard tactics don't work, try softer ones.

"Grandma, I was wrong, please let me out. I'm suffocating."

I don't know if it was because my soft words worked, but she stopped kicking my butt and I was allowed to leave.

She stood up again and turned around to confront Lin Jingru, only to see the fierce female panda with her back to her, roaring as she charged toward Lin Jingru, who was lying on the ground, unable to get up for a long time.

—The mother panda ambushed Lin Jingru.

No! The person I'm trying to woo can't die!

She shouted to attract the mother panda's attention.

The moment the mother panda turned her head, her consciousness, like a wisp of smoke, entered her black and white snout.

Li Nai's expression instantly turned blank, the panda cub in his hand fell to the ground with a thud, and he calmly faced the ferocious beast charging towards him.

[Order received 1: Protect villain number 3, Lin Jingru.]

[Order 2 received: Do not endanger the mother panda's life.]

Concerned about Lin Jingru's condition, Li Naixin eagerly opened her eyes and saw a gray and gloomy scene with dust particles floating in the air and a strong smell of dry grass and bamboo leaves filling her nostrils.

She blinked her beady black eyes twice and realized she was lying in a cave.

Oh, this sleepy 'pig' is the real host.

She struggled to conquer her soft, bony limbs, wobbled out of the cave, then crawled over her rolling, tumbling twin sisters, pressing down on a lonely rock until she was panting heavily.

Not far ahead, a human is playing with a mother panda.

After fighting for a while, the mother panda probably realized the disparity in strength and stopped fighting, intending to turn back to guard her den. However, she was repeatedly grabbed by Li Nai's fur and easily flung to a more distant place.

It ran back, was stopped, and flung away.

It tried to sneak back in a different direction, but was stopped and thrown away again.

Enraged, it roared wildly at the sky, slapping the bamboo, causing the leaves to tremble.

Li Nai frowned.

Qi Shuihan's situation is urgent; things can't continue like this.

Throw it as far away as possible!

"Waaaaah, waaaaah!"

Upon receiving the order, "Li Nai" lifted the mother panda's sturdy, thick back fur with both hands, raising her like a quilt, and ran steadily in a certain direction.

When they returned, their hands were empty.

"Li Nai" picked herself up again and turned her body back.

Special abilities are limited to 100 minutes per day, so you have to use them sparingly when leaving the base.

Just as she was about to leave, a figure lunged at her and grabbed her thigh.

Looking down, I saw Lin Jingru with disheveled hair. She looked unwell, and there was mud on her clothes on the back, probably because she had been thrown onto the slope by the mother panda.

Shake your leg vigorously with one hand.

"Let go."

The person at her feet remained silent, looking up with cold, phoenix-like eyes fixed on her.

"You won't let go, huh!" She looked down and saw a large stone, about the size of a brick, right at her feet.

"Believe it or not, I'll smash you to death with a rock."

He bent down to grab the stone, then stood up and the stone slipped from his hand.

Why?

She went to grab the stones again.

It remained completely still.

Feeling puzzled, he grabbed the stone and shook it violently.

Crack!

A sound like a lever came from under the rock.

A grim expression lingered on his face for a second.

The next instant, a doorway split open in the grass, and the two people and two pandas fell through.

With a few thuds, they landed on the moving metal sheet.

The hidden door above closed.

Two long LED lights lit up around me.

In the dim light, Li Nai discovered that they were sitting on a conveyor belt.

In the hazy light, a flowing green bead caught her eye.

She looked at Lin Jingru's hand, where a very familiar ring was on her index finger.

I stared intently and examined it carefully.

I remember now.

Wasn't this a gift that she had spent several days designing and making, which she wanted to give to Missy on her birthday?

The emerald on it wasn't real; it was an antidote she exchanged for using points she earned from killing hundreds of zombies during missions.

He grabbed Lin Jingru's hand and demanded sharply, "How did you end up with my ring on your hand?!"

Lin Jingru shook off her hand.

The guy was strong; he almost pushed her upside down.

Stunned for a moment.

"You take other people's things and still think you're right?!"

He lunged forward, baring his teeth and claws, and grabbed the ring directly.

The other side was not going to back down either.

The two bumped arms repeatedly, eventually escalating to grabbing each other's hair and wrestling together.

Fortunately, the tracks were two meters wide, preventing the innocent panda cub from being pushed off.

The two men, engrossed in their fight, failed to notice a bright red warning sign brushing past their heads.

"Danger! Mutant Zone - Tropical Forest"
