Chapter 21: Concubine Bao's Exposing

The late nights in the palace were too hard to bear. If it weren't for her faith, she would have gone crazy.

Bao agreed to keep recalling the past, which actually made her discover some things she had never noticed before.

She found that all her abnormal behaviors had traces to follow, and there was someone behind it all.

She had made a deal with this man, and the two of them worked together to cause the former imperial concubine to give birth prematurely.

If the imperial concubine had not been so blessed with a long life, she would have died along with the child in her womb.

At first, Bao Da Ying thought that it was Concubine Wen who set her up, so she kept cursing Concubine Wen during the days of her imprisonment.

When Bao promised to find out who the real murderer was, he shouted that he wanted to see His Majesty.

But was ridiculed and mocked.

Bao Da Ying had a bitter look on his face and ate the cold food mouthful by mouthful without any appetite.

A dark shadow fell beside him, and Bao Da Ying was frightened and turned pale, thinking he saw a ghost.

The man took out an object. Bao Da Ying stared at it blankly, then suddenly laughed, "So, Your Majesty already knew about this."

The bitterness in his words was about to overflow.

The shadow didn't respond. Concubine Bao had laughed enough and restrained her expression. "Tell His Majesty, I do."

The palace exploded.

The concubine Bao who plotted to murder the prince was not only released, but also restored to the position of concubine Bao.

This left everyone who knew about it dumbfounded, and no one knew how many porcelain pieces in the palace were broken.

If the four concubines were not full, she might have returned to the position of concubine.

In the Queen's palace.

The concubines in each palace sat down according to their status. To the left of the queen was Concubine Xie, and to the right was Concubine Xian who was ill.

The arrival of Concubine Xian shocked everyone in the room, as she was the favorite concubine of His Majesty in his private residence.

However, His Majesty fell seriously ill a few years after ascending the throne and has been recuperating ever since. Why would he come to pay his respects to the Queen now?

Concubine Wen's eyes flickered as she glanced at Concubine Xian. "Sister, you have always lived in seclusion. Why are you dragging your sick body to pay your respects to the Empress?"

The virtuous concubine looked sickly and thin. She coughed twice, her bony hand covering her lips. "Your Majesty is the Empress, and you have the Crown Prince as your nephew. It is only proper etiquette for me to pay my respects to you."

After hearing this, Xie Ruyi had a sarcastic smile on his face.

If I really respected you, why would I come to see you today?

"Princess Bao is here!"

Baopin wore her hair in a bun, with a cluster of flowers on her head and a phoenix-shaped hairpin in her temples. She wore a bright red brocade skirt, and her jewelry jingled as she walked, showing her graceful demeanor.

Everyone's eyes were focused on him, each with different thoughts.

The concubines of lower rank stood up to pay their respects and congratulated Baopin one by one.

Baopin's expression was cold and she dealt with it casually. She turned her eyes and saw Xianfei sitting at the head of the table, then she smiled and said, "Sister is here."

The virtuous concubine was suspicious, but when she saw the joy in Baopin's eyes that didn't seem fake, she responded softly.

There were some noises coming from the palace, and the concubines sat up straight and stopped talking.

The empress wore a crimson gilded skirt with a phoenix pattern, and her expression was dignified, with an indescribable nobility between her brows. Concubine Xian stared at the empress intently until she heard her surprised voice.

"This sister must be the virtuous concubine, right? Why are you here to see me instead of recuperating in the palace?"

The virtuous concubine withdrew her gaze and said softly, "A few days ago, it was the Crown Prince's one-year-old celebration. I had prepared a gift for His Highness long ago, but due to my health, I have not been able to send it yet."

She turned and motioned to the maid beside her, who stepped forward and presented a revolving lantern made of pure gold. The carvings on it were lifelike, and it was obvious that great effort had been put into it.

The Queen nodded. This was indeed what Fatty liked. She gestured for Yuzhu to accept it, with a slight smile on her face, "You are so thoughtful."

When Concubine Xian heard the Queen speaking to her in the tone of a superior, her lips trembled slightly and regret welled up in her heart.

This seat was supposed to be hers.

She forced a smile and said, "It's my duty." Seeing Concubine Xian's pretentious look, Concubine Bao wanted to tear off her mask.

Hatred entangled Baopin's heart like a vine. Thinking of everything she had suffered, she said coldly, "Sister, why do you have to pretend?

You wish the Queen would die in childbirth, so why would you pretend to send gifts?"

The virtuous concubine was stunned by her direct attack. She ignored the shocked looks of the others and said, "Chen Jingyun, have you been locked up like a fool? What are you talking nonsense about? Someone, come and drag her away."

Xie Ruyi almost choked to death on the tea. How dare the virtuous concubine, who was so arrogant, overstep her bounds in front of the empress?

"Hahaha, Wang Wanrou, do you think this harem is still yours? The Empress is here now, what qualifications do you have to exercise the Empress's power?"

Baopin said this recklessly with the madness of wanting to kill others.

Everyone listened attentively as if they had heard some shocking secret.

The virtuous concubine was stunned by what she said, and then she looked at the queen and said, "Your Majesty is magnanimous and will not hold it against me."

Baopin was too lazy to waste words with her. She came out now just to take revenge!

She lifted her skirt and straightened her back. "Your Majesty, the day you went to the Imperial Garden, it was a trap set by Consort Xian and me. The road there was paved with mossy stones, and your shoes were inlaid with brocade. If you fell from such a height, you would have been crippled if not dead..."

The queen gripped the armchair tightly. If it weren't for her child's luck, these people's plan would have succeeded!

She didn't know what was wrong with Concubine Bao, and she was willing to self-destruct in order to drag Concubine Xian into the water. However, these two people were the ones who harmed her child. How could the Queen let them go?

"If I'm not mistaken, the poisoning of the crown prince was done by Concubine Xian. That little palace maid was Concubine Xian's person." Baopin looked at Concubine Xian as she spoke without looking away.
