Chapter 4 The Prince is Likely to Die Young

In the pavilion.

Several ministers were working at their desks, making annotations.

The click of the pen holder being put down made everyone look up and see the Minister of Rites lying on his back in a chair in a disheveled manner.

"I say, what's wrong with our emperor? He has summoned so many people to help review memorials these past few days, and only excerpted the key points for questioning."

Pei Hangqing's eyes were indifferent, but there was a chill in his voice. "Xiang Jing, if you want to die, don't drag us down with you."

"This is an important political place. Except for His Majesty, who dares to trespass? Pei Hangqing, look at how cowardly you look." Xiang Jing is the current tutor and has always been carefree.

Even Emperor Mingxi was accustomed to his language style and never blamed him.

After hearing this, someone agreed, "Our Majesty has centralized power for a long time, and only a few trusted aides have been able to interfere in government affairs. This is a good thing for us."

Prince An stroked his beard and said, "Your Majesty has been childless for many years. Now that the prince is born, he must be taken good care of."

Someone's eyes flickered. "Prince An said it lightly, but everyone knows that when His Majesty chose an heir, the Crown Prince was the sure choice."

King An bowed his hands to the sky and said, "Your Majesty has a son, and I am even more happy for my brother! If you say such sour words, watch out for your head."

Although the man wasn't afraid of him, he didn't want to start a fight either. He just snorted coldly and said nothing more.

"I wonder what our Crown Prince looks like. He must be a god descending from heaven!" The speaker was the top scorer of this year's imperial examination, who admired Emperor Mingxi very much.

Since he started studying, he had heard that Your Majesty had been praying for a child year after year without success, and he had become discouraged and no longer had any hope.

In his eyes, the prince is like a god descending from heaven.

"Your Majesty is a wise ruler, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince must be extraordinary." For a moment, the hall was filled with flattering words, but they were all sincere.

When Prince An saw this, he felt choked up, so he closed his eyes and remained silent.

The sound of guards kneeling and paying their respects was heard outside the hall. Everyone in the hall immediately straightened their clothes and said nothing.

No matter how high-spirited they are in the court, they all bow their heads in front of His Majesty.

When Emperor Mingxi arrived at the pavilion, all the court officials knelt down in unison and said, "Your Majesty, may you be well."

Emperor Mingxi called out, "Please stand up. What do you think of my son?"

He turned sideways to show the child to everyone.

Xiang Jing took two steps forward and said, "Your Majesty, the prince has bright eyes and eyebrows, he must be very intelligent."

As soon as he finished speaking, the hall was immediately filled with praise: "The prince will surely be a wise ruler for all time!"

"The Crown Prince is born extraordinary. When I saw him, I felt as if Your Majesty was here in person."

"The Crown Prince is truly a man of great stature and beauty, truly worthy of being a descendant of the Emperor."

Yan Chengyu was very ashamed of the flattery, especially from the ministers.

How can you tell something extraordinary from the face of a baby who is only a few days old, and what about the older brother who praised him for his good looks?

How could he say that to a green cabbage? Even though he thought he looked much better...

Yan Chengyu arched his body like a little caterpillar again, “Ahhhhhhhhh.”

Dad, please stop holding me up. You act like you're holding up a priceless treasure.

Although Emperor Mingxi did not understand, he was afraid that his precious son would fall, so he quickly took him back to his arms.

Pei Hangqing didn't say anything at first. He was only good at getting things done and was a man of few words.

Naturally, he couldn't say anything nice, but he was always valued by Emperor Mingxi.

As soon as he heard that the queen was pregnant, he was happy for the current emperor.

Pei Hangqing had studied medicine, and he sighed when he saw His Majesty holding a lifeless child.

His Royal Highness is likely to die young, but the imperial physician is afraid to speak up. And His Majesty is so overjoyed that he doesn't even notice.

Unexpectedly, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince's eyes were so bright and lively that he didn't look like a baby who was only a few days old.

Pei Hangqing recalled the rumors in the palace that the prince was stillborn and was brought back to life only after His Majesty moved God.

Is this true?

He felt something strange in his heart, and quietly squeezed forward twice.

He was able to squeeze out the Minister of War and the Minister of Justice with a little effort, making the two old men glare at him.

Emperor Mingxi saw Pei Hangqing approaching and became interested. He wondered how this boy would praise his son. "My dear, what do you think of the Crown Prince?"

"Your Majesty, the prince is likely to die young." He bowed deeply.

For a moment, the hall fell silent.

The ministers were sweating profusely and did not even dare to apologize, but knelt down.

He secretly hated this piece of wood, and his face turned green. Who couldn't see it?

But this is the child that people have been looking forward to for decades. How dare Pei Hangyue do that!

Emperor Mingxi was furious, not caring at all that this was a minister he had praised. "How dare you curse my son?"

His tone was grim, and the chill in his words was enough to freeze everyone to death.

Xiang Jing was even more devastated. They wouldn't be implicated by a fool like Pei Hangqing, would they?

Seeing that Emperor Mingxi was angry, Pei Hangyue immediately knelt down.

Yan Chengyu was not very happy. He knew that his life span was not long. But his father loved him so much that he tried his best to stay alive. Now he has 16 days to live!

Why is this guy like this? His father was so happy, and he was even scared when he suddenly got angry.

Yan Chengyu felt aggrieved and was afraid that his father would kill this person if he cried.

I just told the truth, it's not a crime punishable by death. Yan Chengyu suppressed the urge to burst into tears, his mouth pursed.

Pei Hangqing's eyes were also on the little prince at this time. He looked at the child who seemed to be about to cry, and his heart was filled with waves.

This child must be somewhat supernatural. Could it be that he was born with knowledge?

Pei Hangqing pursed his lips. If he was born with knowledge, he would feel uncomfortable hearing what he said.
