Chapter 3 Was she abandoned by a wild man?
"Stop pretending." Lu Mingchuan lowered his head, curled his lips slightly, but his eyes were cold.
"I won't give you a penny."
What money?
Didn't she just call people to eat? Why are you talking nonsense?
Su Heng looked puzzled, then realized what was happening.
The original owner once heard the gossipy aunt in the brigade mention that Lu Mingchuan still had a large sum of money, which was the resettlement fee given by the army.
He even asked in a provocative manner whether it had been handed over to the original owner and how much money was in it.
The original owner went to Lu Mingchuan to make trouble when she came back, but was turned away.
Later, he did not give up. While Lu Mingchuan went to the kitchen to cook, he came in to look for it, but of course he didn't find it.
Su Heng wants to live in peace with others.
She needed a place to stay, after all, in those days you couldn't go anywhere without a letter of introduction.
It would not be good for her, a married woman, to live back in her parents' home, as it would be easy for people close to the original owner to notice something was wrong.
Su Heng tried her best to appear sincere: "What happened before is what happened before. I won't ask you for money anymore."
"Let's have a meal and forget our grudges, okay?"
Lu Mingchuan narrowed his eyes and looked at Su Heng, his heart full of sarcasm.
If he hadn't heard her plotting with the wild man, saying she was going to steal money and elope, he would have believed it.
Perhaps because he thought Su Heng's stupidity was amusing, Lu Mingchuan suddenly said maliciously, "I won't get a divorce."
Lu Mingchuan was the one who received the first-class merit while still alive, especially since he was disabled.
His marriage is not so easy to divorce.
Su Heng hadn't thought about leaving here for the time being. The outside world wasn't open yet, and she couldn't leave even if she got divorced.
"Let's live in peace, okay?"
Su Heng was quite tolerant of a cripple, after all, he would be her landlord for a while.
Besides, a healthy person suddenly became disabled, and the injury was caused while protecting the country. So it’s okay if he has a bad temper.
She was reborn into a world full of hope, and the gloom of the end of the world was no longer on her face.
That smile seemed so bright that it was dazzling to Lu Mingchuan.
He just watched this stupid woman acting quietly, finding it very interesting, and sneered mischievously.
"not good."
Su Heng paused, thinking it was difficult, and she took back her previous thought.
I can't tolerate it anymore.
After all, the wrong things the original owner did were not done by her.
The food is getting cold, so there is no rush to reconcile.
"Okay, if you don't want to eat it, then don't eat it."
Su Heng turned and left. The food was still hot. She took a breath of the aroma and prepared to eat with a happy face.
Lu Mingchuan suddenly felt uncomfortable and didn't want to follow her wishes, so he walked out with a crutch.
Su Heng's eyes involuntarily looked at his lame leg.
To say lame is a bit inappropriate.
Lu Mingchuan was hit by a bullet in his right leg, damaging the nerves and leaving him with no sensation in the lower half of his leg below the knee.
The handsome guy is wearing a crutch, and there is a certain beauty in his damaged appearance.
Su Heng is not a lustful person, she just feels sorry for the heroes who defend their country.
He couldn't hold his gaze back for a moment and sensed the murderous intent again.
When she looked up, she saw Lu Mingchuan looking at her coldly.
Seeing Lu Mingchuan sitting down, Su Heng smiled and said, "Didn't you say you didn't want to eat?"
The dishes on the table are not only delicious but also beautifully presented.
As a former sniper, Lu Mingchuan has very good eyesight and saw it from inside the house.
"I didn't say I wouldn't eat."
His slender hands picked up the spoon from the bowl and scooped himself a large spoonful of egg custard.
The egg custard is topped with a little lard, a small drop of soy sauce, and a few chopped green onions, giving it a fragrant aroma.
This idiot's cooking is actually quite delicious.
Su Heng choked. Even if they didn't want to reconcile, they still had to eat, right?
So childish.
Lu Mingchuan's face still had a hint of youthfulness.
He joined the army at the age of sixteen and had five years of military service. He is only twenty-one now.
People get married early these days, and Su Heng is only eighteen in this body.
Lu Mingchuan eats quickly but not rudely.
Seeing this, Su Heng hurried to eat as she was really hungry.
Rice that has not been polluted tastes sweet. Su Heng ate it with such happiness that she even had tears in her eyes.
People who have not experienced the end of the world may think it is an exaggeration.
But for those who have been struggling in the wasteland for several years, being able to have a good meal is the most luxurious thing.
In a world full of pollution, many people die of starvation.
Even though Su Heng has wood-related abilities, he is too weak in the early stages, and there are also disadvantages in promoting the growth of plants in the later stages. Crops that are forcibly ripened cannot reproduce offspring and can only survive.
Lu Mingchuan was very perceptive and he noticed something strange about Su Heng.
He paused and glanced at the corners of her eyes which were slightly red.
This idiot is different today.
Was she abandoned by some wild man outside?
Lu Mingchuan pulled up a sarcastic smile.
Serves you right.
This is such a beautiful misunderstanding.
The three dishes were just right for two people, and there was also rice soup and rice porridge simmered in the pot in the kitchen using the remaining fire.
Su Heng went to the kitchen to find a large clay pot, filled it with porridge, and brought it to the main room.
If you can’t finish this meal, you can eat it in the evening.
Su Heng loves to eat rice crusts cooked on a wood stove. They are crispy and have the taste of childhood.
Lu Mingchuan didn't say anything, but also filled a bowl.
People tend to feel sleepy after eating, not to mention that Su Heng was injured again today and was really tired.
She finished the last mouthful of porridge and said to Lu Mingchuan with a smile, "I'll cook, you wash the dishes!"
Fearing that Lu Mingchuan would refuse, she quickly stood up and ran into her room, slamming the door shut.
Through the door, he said, "If you don't wash the dishes, there will be no dishes to use at night. You won't refuse, will you?"
Lu Mingchuan looked up at her childish behavior and ignored her.
He just stood up silently and cleared the dishes.
Su Heng turned around with relief after hearing the noise outside the room. She looked around the bridal chamber. There were a lot of things in it and it was quite messy.
There was a wooden bed inside, a large wardrobe next to the bed, and a sewing machine against the wall.
Next to the sewing machine was a dressing table with a mirror, on which were scattered messy cloths and clothes.
These days it’s popular to buy a sewing machine, a bicycle, or something like that when you get married; it’s considered a big deal and a very impressive item.
Lu Mingchuan is lame, so his family only bought a sewing machine.
The original owner had some skills in making clothes. She was actually very favored at home, but she was just a little lazy.
Her family was afraid that she would be disliked by her husband's family, so they tried every means to let her learn sewing skills.
Su Heng didn't have the energy to clean the room at this moment, so she fell on the pillow and closed her eyes.
There was an injury on the back of her head, so she slept on her stomach.
My chest feels a little uncomfortable, but I didn’t expect that this body is well developed and quite attractive.
The afternoon breeze blew in through the window, and the yard was very quiet.
Only the chirping of cicadas in the trees is white noise that carries the flavor of childhood.
I slept very soundly, and when I woke up the pain in the back of my head had eased a little.
When I opened the door, I saw that the dining table in the main hall was very clean and it was obvious that it had been tidied.
The door of the room opposite was closed and no sound could be heard.
Su Heng turned around and went back to the house, intending to clean up the room she lived in.
The original owner bought a lot of things, and an apricot-yellow, unfinished Dacron shirt was placed on the sewing machine.
There were also a few bottles of facial cream, homemade hairbands and other things on the table.
There are still some snacks in the cabinet, and they are all cheaper than Su Heng's now.
Putting aside her character, Su Heng occupied someone else's body after all.
She wondered whether she should burn some paper money for the original owner, but then she immediately remembered that this was a special period and feudal superstitions must be cracked down on.
Forget it. She should just thank him in her heart and avoid being caught later.
