Chapter 145 Tiedan and Xiaohong return to Tangjia Village

It was already 3 p.m. when Tiedan and Xiaohong returned to Tangjia Village.

"Xiaohong, Tiedan? Is that you?" The village chief of Tangjia Village exclaimed in surprise when he saw Tiedan and Xiaohong whom he had not seen for three years.

"Hello, village chief. I'm Xiaohong." Xiaohong greeted the village chief.

"Well, are you back to see your grandfather off? You're really good kids. Is your master good to you?" The village chief asked Xiaohong and Tiedan with some pity. He had never thought that Tang Ergou would actually sell his own children. He wanted to stop them, but he had no reason to, so he could only watch the two siblings being sold.

"Grandpa? What happened to Grandpa?" When Tiedan heard that it was time to send Grandpa on his last journey, he felt a little nervous, as if something bad was going to happen.

Sure enough, the village chief's words confirmed what he was thinking.

"Don't you know? Ever since your father sold you and used the money to pay for your grandfather's medical treatment, no matter how many doctors he saw or how many medicines he took, there was no improvement. Now he is terminally ill and there is no way to save him. This should have happened in the past two days. I thought it was your father who asked you to come back, but I didn't expect you didn't know." The village chief told Tiedan and Xiaohong what had happened in Tang Ergou's family in the past three years.

"Uncle Village Chief, my master saw that we were doing well and asked us to come back," Xiaohong said to the village chief. Why did she feel so bad when she heard that Grandpa was not well? Hadn't she already had no ties with that family? This time, it was because her master asked her to come back, saying that her inner demons were too heavy and she had to come back to let go of them. Only then would he dare to give her a mission, and that's why she came back.

"Uncle Village Chief, let's go home," Tiedan said, dragging Xiaohong along as they walked home. Although he felt resentful, thinking about the situation at home, he realized that if his father hadn't sold him, there wouldn't have been enough money to treat his grandfather. He didn't blame his father, only that he had wanted to sell his eldest sister to a brothel.

"Oh, what a pair of poor children!" The village chief sighed as he looked at the lucky Tiedan and Xiaohong.

Tiedan and Xiaohong stood at the doorstep, looking at the familiar, dilapidated house that was about to collapse. They felt sad.

"Sister, shall we go in? No matter how much we hate grandpa, he is already terminally ill and can no longer hold on. Let's put aside our hatred for now and accompany him for the rest of his life." Tiedan looked at Xiaohong and said to her seriously.

"I know, I will accompany him to the last journey." Xiaohong said.

"Thank you, sister." Tiedan knew that this was his sister's last concession and he couldn't ask for too much.

Tiedan walked up and knocked on the door, and a questioning voice came from inside.

"Who is it? What's going on?"

Hearing her mother's voice, Xiaohong's frozen heart felt a little warmer.

Soon there were footsteps, and then the sound of a door opening. When the door opened, Xiaohong saw her mother's appearance and was shocked in her heart: How could it be? I haven't seen my mother for three years, how could she become so old?

"Who are you? What's the matter...Xiaohong, Tiedan, is it you?" Little Matchmaker Mao Yueniang said in surprise.

"Mom, it's me!" Xiaohong said while supporting her mother Mao Yueniang.

"My Xiaohong, Tiedan! I'm glad you're back. Have you been living well these years? Mother is very worried and misses you!" Mao Yueniang asked Tiedan and Xiaohong happily.

"Mom, we are living a good life, but you have become much older." Xiaohong said, looking at her mother who already had white hair.

"Mother is thinking of you, that's why she does this. Mother is happy to see you." Mao Yue Niang touched Xiaohong's face excitedly.

"Madam, who's here?" Tang Ergou's voice came from inside the house. He was puzzled as his wife had gone to open the door for a quarter of an hour and still hadn't come back.

"Husband, Tiedan and Xiaohong are back." Mao Yueniang said excitedly.

"What did you say?" Tang Ergou couldn't believe it and thought he had heard it wrong.

Xiaohong followed her mother and Tiedan into the inner room, feeling a little nervous. She was worried that her father didn't like her, but she also hoped that her father would be nice to her.

"Dad!" Xiao Hong screamed nervously and fearfully when she saw Tang Ergou. Since she was bought by Bai Chen, it seemed like she had no connection with the Tang family anymore. Would Tang Ergou still recognize her as his daughter?

"Oh, it's good to be back. Go see Grandpa, he's dying and he's always thinking about you." Tang Ergou felt mixed emotions when he saw his children safely returned. He didn't want to sell his children, but under the circumstances at the time, if he didn't sell them, his father wouldn't be able to survive.

On one side was his father, and on the other side were his children. It was a difficult decision for him to make. Out of filial piety, he had no choice but to give up his children.

For the past three years, his conscience had been tormenting him, and he had been unable to sleep at night, worrying about them and fearing that they would be abused by their master.

Tiedan and Xiaohong came to grandpa's room and saw grandpa lying on the bed, dying.

"Grandpa, my sister and I are back to see you. Do you still recognize who I am?" Tiedan felt very uncomfortable when he saw his grandfather lying on the bed, looking skinny as a stick. The hatred in his heart disappeared.

Xiaohong felt bad too. Seeing her grandfather lying quietly on the bed, motionless, a small piece of her frozen heart collapsed.

In his coma, Old Man Tang seemed to hear his eldest grandson's voice. He was overjoyed and wanted to open his eyes to see his grandson. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't open his eyes. He was anxious. This was his eldest grandson whom he hadn't seen in three years. He had to see him one last time, otherwise he would die with regret. And what about his granddaughter Xiaohong? Had she returned? Old Man Tang was in a state of internal conflict, anxious and desperate. He wanted to open his eyes to see his eldest grandson and granddaughter, but he couldn't.
