A Dream of the Yellow Millet
With a head full of doubts, Lu Liang found Gu Liu.
"How could His Royal Highness the Prince like humans? This is too heavy," Lu Liang poked Gu Liu's arm.
Because City Lord Su Liu is a vampire, Gu Liu endured it and did not speak.
He couldn't tell anyone except the Gu family about his discovery.
A small bowl of "Rose Lychee Milk" can test out Su Liu's bloodline.
It is impossible for human Omegas to resist its temptation. The combination of these two ingredients will cause humans, especially Omegas, to have a strong appetite.
But when Su Liu leaned over to smell it, he obviously liked it very much, but he scooped it up and only took two bites. There is only one explanation for this situation: he is not a human, this is not his diet, and he is pretending to eat it.
"It's better for you not to ask too much about His Highness's affairs," Gu Liu exchanged glances with the Gu family members not far away and evaded the question.
A little further away, Luyao and Sutao were sitting at their tables, picking up dishes with stiff movements.
Luyao looked around, sighed, and whispered to Sutao, "I shouldn't have come earlier. No wonder I feel so uncomfortable."
"I reminded you when I came here," Su Tao said in a somewhat depressed tone.
"Okay, okay, it's all my fault. If I hadn't come, you wouldn't have come here to take care of me and suffer." Lu Yao felt Su Tao's emotions and smiled as she picked up a piece of food with chopsticks for Su Tao.
Su Tao was stunned for a moment. He knew that Lu Yao was also upset, but she pretended to be "no big deal" because she saw him upset. He felt very uncomfortable and said hesitantly, "That's not what I meant."
"Since you're here, have some food. This is delicious, try it." There seemed to be a flash of moisture in Luyao's lowered eyes. She blinked, sniffed secretly, and pretended nothing had happened, then picked up a piece of food with her chopsticks and gave it to Sutao.
"Lord Luyao and Sutao have such a good relationship, just like a real family," people at the table whispered.
Su Tao felt a sharp pain in his chest. The little Totoro in his sleeve seemed to sense his emotional fluctuations and rubbed Su Tao's wrist with its furry little head.
For some reason, Sutao suddenly calmed down. He also smiled with relief and chatted with Luyao while eating.
"Isn't the Gu family's headquarters in Xiucheng? Why are there so many people coming to the Lin family when they are pregnant? How does the young master of the Lin family have such a great reputation?" Lu Yao asked in confusion.
Su Tao was peeling crab for Lu Yao. Their table was relatively far back, so the host hadn't arranged for servants to serve them. Fortunately, he was used to this kind of service. Su Tao carefully used his tongs to pick out a whole piece of crab meat and placed it in Lu Yao's bowl. Without even looking up, he said, "The mistress of the Gu family is from the Lin family."
"Oh, so that's it. I didn't know that." Luyao chewed the meat and began to look around again. "Then the mistress is here too, right?"
"Yes," Su Tao said, "the one with the peacock green earrings is it."
Luyao searched for a while before finding the man. He was wearing a royal blue robe and a string of necklaces around his neck. The tassels fluttered gently in the breeze. His face showed fatigue and old age that even his gorgeous clothes could not hide. "He looks quite noble, but seems a little unpleasant. He is not as approachable as our city lord."
"He is only eight years older than the city lord," Su Tao said.
"Ah? You're still so young, not even forty, but you look like you're sixty," Luyao accidentally said the truth, then quickly covered her mouth, then quickly lowered her head, pretending to be intoxicated as she slurped the old duck soup noodles mixed with crab roe.
Su Tao asked her, "Is there enough crab roe? I'll peel another one for you."
Luyao responded vaguely, and glanced over there secretly, "Hey, he has dimples when he smiles."
"You have good eyesight," Su Tao laughed.
"I practice my eyesight every day," Lu Yao said proudly, raising the corners of her mouth. "The City Lord stared into my eyes and praised me for my beauty. You don't know the way he looked at me... Of course I have to practice more."
"Don't always follow other people's pace," Su Tao said suddenly.
"Why do you say that? The city lord is not someone else. He treats me very well. When he compliments me on my beauty, his implication is different from those young masters," Lu Yao spoke up for Su Liu.
"The city lord is different from us. If we were in his position, he might sacrifice us if necessary," Su Tao frowned slightly.
"Sir, you won't do that. Although he always looks hateful and makes people want to beat him to death when he does good things, I know that he is a good man. He does this just because he doesn't want to be appreciated," Lu Yao analyzed.
At this moment, the chinchilla climbed out of the sleeve, jumped onto Su Tao's shoulder in a few steps, and then hung there like a small round cake.
"It's afraid of the heat," Luyao laughed. "Anyway, no one is watching us here. Just be careful and no one will find out."
"Little Yellow is so clingy. Why did he come along?" With the cute little animal lighting the mood, the other Omegas from Spark City at the table also laughed. Peach City wasn't as warm as Spark City's perpetual spring. "Luckily, this is the Lin residence. We have ice to keep it cool. Otherwise, what would have happened to it?"
The cool, damp breeze blew the chinchilla's fur like flying dandelions.
The little chinchilla stared at the Omega wearing peacock green earrings in the pavilion not far away, and a light flashed quickly in its eyes.
The wedding banquet was over and the guests left.
It was rare for Lin Zhen, the mistress of the Gu family, to return to her parents' home. After sending someone to report to the head of the Gu family, she went to the old lady's yard.
After Lin Zhen entered, the gate of the yard was closed and it was quiet inside, as if there was no happy event.
"...What I overheard was a vampire Omega," Lin Zhenru said, half-kneeling on his mother's lap, just like he did when he was a child.
"Where there are vampire Omegas, there will be conflict. This day is about to change dramatically," Lin Zhen's mother twirled her Buddhist beads in her aged, yellowed hands. She pondered for a moment, then said, "I know what's going on. You can go down."
Before Lin Zhen left, he glanced back at his mother with longing. He wanted to ask her if there was anything personal she had forgotten to tell him, but he didn't. His mother had married into the Lin family at sixteen. As a child, he had always thought her beautiful. He wished he could look a little more like her. Perhaps his husband would pay more attention to her.
But now, such a beautiful mother has also grown old. She has aged very quickly in recent years.
Omegas always age quickly.
The more beautiful, the faster.
Lin Zhen walked slowly to the guest room. Behind him were the servants he brought from the Gu family. Two steps in front of him, a strange-looking servant from the Lin family bent over and led the way humbly.
Lin Zhen didn't have her own house in the Lin family. She was like a guest before she got married, and even more like a guest after she got married.
He sat on the couch while servants made the bed and brought him water.
After a while, someone came in carrying a large block of ice and put it into the mortise and tenon device in the corner of the room.
The cool breeze blew towards him with the sound of flowing water. For some reason, Lin Zhen felt his eyelids become heavy and he fell asleep...
"Third Young Master, it's time for morning lessons." Morning lessons? Lin Zhen suddenly woke up.
He thought of his childhood experiences. The Omegas in their Lin family had to learn a lot of things since childhood. The best ones could get anything they wanted, but the relatively stupid ones were not so lucky.
Sometimes, I even have to go hungry.
Lin Zhen is just that stupid type.
When he was little, his mother held him in her arms and called him by his nickname, "Ah Hao, you are the only one I have. You must strive to be good to me."
Lin Zhen vaguely felt that he was not stupid, at least much better than the Alphas in the Lin family. However, among the Omegas, he was indeed a little stupid.
He always felt sleepy after just a few glances at medical books. He liked painting and embroidery. He thought that the styles that the Lin family's embroiderer brought every year were not only old-fashioned but also had ugly color combinations. Yet, they were still sold out in no time. Everyone also praised the embroiderer for her skillful hands and good taste, saying that they had never seen a better one.
Lin Zhen curled his lips.
So, when he grew up a little, he secretly embroidered a handkerchief and showed it to his mother, "Mom, what do you think of this handkerchief?"
"Where did you buy it? It looks pretty good. Ah Hao has grown up now and knows how to care for his mother." The mother took it and looked at it carefully, her eyes full of amazement and her smile very lovingly.
Lin Zhen's eyes lit up, and he took the opportunity to tell his mother about his idea of opening an embroidery shop. He thought his mother would agree.
Unexpectedly, his mother slapped him hard and cut the handkerchief into small pieces with a pair of scissors.
"Who taught you to do these menial jobs? You are a member of the Lin family! If you don't do your job properly, I will listen to your father and marry you off in two years," the mother was furious and punished the people around Lin Zhen. A servant who helped Lin Zhen with needle and thread was beaten several times and died.
Lin Zhen cried for a long time, not knowing who to cry for.
He was only sixteen, and he was going to get married? He didn't want to, he was afraid.
Two years later, his academic performance was still at the bottom. His mother was very disappointed in him, saying how could he be so stupid and regretted giving birth to him.
Eighteen-year-old Lin Zhen sat in the wedding sedan chair and cried so much that her makeup was smudged. He didn't want to get married. He was still a child. Was he going to be someone else's mother?
However, no matter how much he begged, his mother didn't retract her decision. She just said coldly, "I married at sixteen, which at least kept you for two more years. What else do you want? If I had known you were so stupid, I should have married you off at thirteen so you wouldn't be an eyesore. Lin Zhen, I wish you were an Alpha."
Lin Zhen, it would be great if you were an Alpha.
Mother's last words seemed to be accompanied by a long sigh.
If he were an Alpha, his academic performance would undoubtedly be at the top of the list when compared with those of his cousins.
But he is an Omega. All the Omegas in the Lin family are geniuses, but he, Lin Zhen, is not one of them. He is just an ordinary person.
Lin Zhen sat up from the bed. When he moved, he suddenly stiffened. It seemed like there was something extra on his body.
That's something only Alpha has.
He, was reborn?!
He became the third young master of the Gu family, his husband in his previous life.
Lin Zhen followed his study companion to the classroom in a daze. When he arrived, the teacher had already started teaching. When he saw Lin Zhen come in, he was not angry at all. He just smiled ingratiatingly and motioned Lin Zhen to sit down.
There were several Alphas lying around in the classroom, and they were all about the same age.
Some of them lowered their heads and read "that kind" of book.
Some asked the teacher to teach more slowly because they didn’t understand.
Some were clamoring to go out and play, making a lot of noise.
The gentleman responded to each one in a good-tempered manner.
He was different from the kind of gentleman Lin Zhen had known before, the kind who was strict and always looked at him with a look that said, "Lin Zhen, you are stupid."
Lin Zhen opened the book on the table and took a look. The knowledge he learned was actually something he had memorized by heart when he was five years old. The three boys of the Gu family should be seventeen or eighteen years old, right?
Why are you still learning these poems for children at this age?
