Chapter 218 Workshop
When I opened the door, the yard was packed with people, men, women, young and old, of all ages.
Everyone was wearing new clothes and was neatly groomed. If they were not so skinny and had eyes full of anxiety and nervousness, you wouldn't have known they were refugees.
"Since this is a food business, cleanliness is very important. I asked them to wash it from head to toe. If they can't wash it clean, they can't stay."
Qin Huiyin praised: "My brother is really smart. Yes, whether it is running a restaurant or selling snacks, ingredients and hygiene are crucial. If hygiene is not done well, it can cause diarrhea at best and death at worst. Since we are going to do it, we must be true to our conscience."
"Do you think they're suitable?"
"It looks pretty good now, I'll have to take a look later." Qin Huiyin said, looking around. "We have to clean up this place in the next few days."
"I've left a separate room for you over there. You can come here to rest sometimes, and you can also look at the account books there." Song Ruize took Qin Huiyin to the backyard.
Qin Huiyin followed Song Ruize around to get to know the situation of the house. She stopped by the well and looked down into the well.
Song Ruize pulled her and warned her, "Be careful. This well is a live well. I have asked them to wash it out."
"You said this is a haunted house. How did the original person who lived here die?"
"Don't worry, she didn't jump into the well. This water is drinkable." Seeing her cautious look, Song Ruize smiled faintly. "The original owner had an affair with his sister-in-law and was beheaded by the mistress. The mistress fled the county with her lover overnight. I don't know whether she fell into the hands of the government later."
Qin Huiyin looked like she had just eaten a melon.
Song Ruize lifted her chin up: "Be careful of bugs flying in."
"Brother, you are not suitable for telling stories." Qin Huiyin teased him, "If I were to tell such a wonderful story, I would definitely be able to tell it for days and nights."
Qin Huiyin went to see her temporary lounge again.
"It's so big." Qin Huiyin walked in and looked at the warmly decorated wing. "If you decorate the room like this, I can't help but come and stay here often."
When she first came to this different time and space, she didn't even have a decent room. Now, the big house in the countryside is about to be built, and there are two lounges in the city. Happiness came too quickly, and she was a little overnourished.
"If I had known I wouldn't have built such a big house in the countryside." Qin Huiyin said, "But it's okay, I like the feeling of home everywhere."
Song Ruize watched Qin Huiyin walking around the room, and couldn't let go of every piece of jewelry he carefully selected.
"Brother, tell me the truth. It must have cost a lot of money just to decorate this room, right? I feel that this room is too luxurious. You don't have much money, so this room can be simpler." Qin Huiyin said.
“There’s money to be made.”
"Is the room opposite yours?"
"Well, you can come over and rest once in a while."
"Okay. Let me see how this workshop should be arranged." Qin Huiyin sat at the desk, spread out the papers, and thought quietly.
Song Ruize came over, sat down next to her, and started grinding with the inkstone.
When Qin Huiyin started to write, she found that Song Ruize had already prepared the pen and ink.
She drew very quickly, but she always made corrections and erased them, so she wasted a lot of paper. By the time she finished drawing the complete workshop, an hour had passed.
She stopped and blew the ink on the paper with satisfaction. She turned around to ask Song Ruize for credit, but saw him lying there asleep.
He must be very tired. Even when he was asleep, his brows were tightly wrinkled, like a little old man.
Qin Huiyin searched the room and found a fluffy blanket and covered him with it.
When Song Ruize woke up again, Qin Huiyin was no longer in the room. He sat up suddenly and was about to go out to ask about Qin Huiyin's whereabouts, but he heard her voice.
He walked to the window following the sound and saw Qin Huiyin and the group of refugees he had taken in carrying out various reforms in the yard.
"You plant the osmanthus tree here."
"Miss Qin, where are the cherry trees planted?"
"Cherry blossoms are beautiful, and cherries are delicious, but there is no room for two tigers in one mountain. Planting osmanthus trees and then cherry trees seems a bit... Forget it, I'll plant the cherry trees in the front yard."
"Miss Qin, you said you wanted to rebuild the stove. Several of us have built it before. Can we give it a try?" asked a middle-aged man.
Qin Huiyin looked at his scarred face, not avoiding his gaze at all, and said happily: "Okay, you helped my brother save money, I'll leave it to you."
"Miss Qin, we can do needlework." A woman came over carefully. "Is there anything we can do to help?"
"You can help in many ways. When we prepare food, you will be required to put your hair up and wear hats. You will have to make more than 200 hats."
"Yes, we can definitely do it."
Qin Huiyin waved to the little ones not far away: "Come here too. The adults are all helping, you can't just sit there. Clean up the room these few days."
Song Ruize watched Qin Huiyin getting along harmoniously with the refugees, and felt that today's sun was a little scorching, making his eyes a little dry.
"Yinyin..." Song Ruize walked out the door. "It's too late today. I'll take you home."
"Okay." Qin Huiyin responded to Song Ruize first, then lowered her head and instructed the children.
She turned to leave, but a child grabbed her clothes.
She looked back and saw the child blushing and speaking nervously, "I was the one who bumped into you and snatched your purse that day. I'm sorry, sister."
Qin Huiyin squatted down: "Why did you steal my purse?"
"I'm hungry." The little beggar cried, "It rained that day, and everyone went home. I was very hungry and worried that I couldn't find food, so I stole your purse."
"Since you apologized sincerely, I will forgive you this time. Now you have a place to stay and a chance to fill your stomach, and you don't have to do those bad things anymore. If you do it again in the future, I will kick you out of here, and then it won't be something that can be solved by an apology, understand?"
"Thank you, sister. As long as I have food to eat, I will definitely not do anything bad."
Qin Huiyin touched his head and stood up.
Song Ruize rode over on his horse and extended his hand to her.
She took his hand, used his strength to mount the horse, and sat on his front side.
"Brother, you are the head of the dam now. If you come here to open a workshop like this, will anyone cause trouble for you?"
"I have mentioned this to the county magistrate. We should take out two-tenths of the profits from the workshop and sell them to the county's warehouse." Song Ruize said calmly, "If our workshop is profitable, it will also be good for the government."
Qin Huiyin was surprised and turned back to look at him.
Song Ruize hugged her: "Don't move."
