Chapter 91: Little Thief
It was late at night and a cool breeze was blowing.
The bustling village during the day fell silent, as if all the colors and sounds were collected into a mysterious bag, waiting to be released at dawn.
At such a quiet moment, a rustling sound came from the wall of the Tang family's house.
The sound was sometimes loud, sometimes soft, sometimes fast, sometimes slow, accompanied by the woman's nervous urging and blaming voice.
"Be gentle, be slow, don't make any noise..."
"Mom, this ladder is a bit short."
"Just put your feet on the ground and you can get up there."

Bang! A heavy object fell to the ground. Tang Mingxiu struggled to get up, wiped the cold sweat off his forehead, looked around, and walked towards the kitchen.

"Run, idiot..."
Li Taohua was the first to run out, holding a feather duster in her hand, and ran towards Tang Mingxiu: "Where did this little thief come from? How dare you break into our house and steal things?"
Tang Dafu followed closely and waved the oil lamp in front of Tang Mingxiu. After seeing her clearly, he frowned and said, "Tang Mingxiu, what do you want to do?"
Tang Luwu, Qin Huiyin and Tang Yixiao came out one after another.
Tang Yi smiled and said, "You ran into my yard in the middle of the night instead of sleeping. What do you want to steal?"
"I didn't mean to steal anything." Tang Mingxiu avoided looking at him. "Something just blew over to your house and I wanted to come over and pick it up."
"What?"
"My clothes." Tang Mingxiu said, "If it wasn't something so important, I wouldn't have come to pick it up at night."
Qin Huiyin raised her eyebrows: "What about your clothes?"
"I didn't find it. Maybe it was too dark and hard to find." Tang Mingxiu said, "Or maybe I saw it wrongly and the wind didn't blow over here. Anyway, I didn't mean to run into your yard."
Bang, bang, bang! Wang was knocking on the door outside.
Li Taohua sneered: "Here comes another one."
"Mom, let's go find the village chief to seek justice!" Qin Huiyin said.
"Okay, I'll go find the village chief." Tang Dafu said, "You guys keep an eye on them."
Tang Dafu opened the gate.
Wang rushed in.
"Woof..." Dahei pounced over and shouted at Wang.
Wang was so frightened that she fell to the ground, looking at the huge black dog in horror.
In such a dark night, the big black hair blended into the darkness, and only a pair of glowing eyes stared at Wang, waiting for Wang to make any movement and then pounce on her immediately.
"Mom, my arm hurts so much...the dog bit me..." Tang Mingxiu said crying.
"How could you let a dog bite someone?" Wang said tremblingly, "My daughter was bitten, you have to take responsibility."
"I don't want to waste time talking to her. Let's wait until the village chief comes."
The village chief's home. The village chief's wife nudged the village chief next to her and said, "Dad, the dog's barking is a bit scary. Did something happen in our village again?"

"But I always feel that the dog's barking tonight is a little different." The village head's wife said, "Tang Dafu's new wife is a little weird. What happened recently is related to their family. As he spoke, Tang Dafu stuffed a bag of candy into the village chief's hand.
The village chief touched something, took a little and put it in his mouth. It tasted sweet.
"Okay, I'll go take a look." The village chief said, "Wait here for a while, I'll go in and put on my shoes."
After the village chief entered the house, he handed the candy to his wife and whispered a few words.
The village chief's wife tasted the candy and said, "This family is quite capable. Why don't you go over and help them make the decision? If thieves break into our village, it will be too unsafe."
When the village chief followed Tang Dafu to the Tang family, they heard the sound of Wang and Li Taohua arguing with each other from the yard.
"We are not thieves, we are just picking up things."
"Where's the stuff?"
"It's so dark, of course I can't see clearly."
"You are not sleeping in the middle of the night and you crawled over to my house to pick up something. Do you think we are fools?"
"Didn't you say at the beginning that people from our family shouldn't enter your house? If you don't wait until night to come over, can you let us come over during the day?"
Tang Dafu pushed open the door and invited the village chief in.
He lit a torch and when he walked in, several pairs of eyes looked at him.
"Village chief, please come and judge the situation. Our house has been robbed."
"Village chief, we are innocent. Mingxiu lost her clothes and we were too shy to come here to pick them up at night. You know that our two families had a big fight. If we hadn't come here secretly, they would have never let us off."
The village chief was overwhelmed when he heard these arguments.
The husband says he is right, and the wife says she is right. These debates all sound reasonable. He is the village chief, not an official. How can he judge this matter?
"Village head, you have to make a decision for us!" Wang cried, "Mingxiu was bitten by their dog. They must give us an explanation."
"Why did you get bitten?" The village chief frowned. "If it was just a misunderstanding, we can talk it out. But if someone got bitten, that's no small matter. Mingxiu, where are you hurt?"

"Does it hurt?"
"It hurts, it hurts so much." Tang Mingxiu said, "Village Chief, they must pay compensation."
