Chapter 166 The Child is Born

There is still half a month before Yunyan's due date. Grandpa Shen and Grandma Liang often come to her place, and they always bring a lot of things with them.

"Yan Yan, if your due date is advanced, please ask your aunt to call you so that the driver can take you to the hospital." Grandma Liang reminded her before leaving.

A telephone is also installed in Yunyan’s new house, which makes it convenient for her to handle business or call Shen Ye!

"Grandma, I remember everything you said!" Yun Yan said.

The late spring cold in Beijing was also very severe. For Yun Yan and Aunt Zheng, who were born and raised in the south, it was really too cold. They felt the chill in their bones.

As the weather got colder, Yun Yan became even more lazy and didn't want to move. She stayed in bed all day without leaving the house.

About a week before her due date, Yunyan's belly started to move.

Yun Yan felt pain in her stomach before dawn. She picked up her watch and saw that it was not yet five o'clock.

Yunyan was so sleepy that she ignored it and continued to sleep!

About half an hour later, she felt another pain in her stomach and turned over to continue sleeping.

When the next contraction came, she picked up her watch and looked at it. It now occurred about every half an hour.

Yunyan got up, walked out of the room, and knocked on Aunt Zheng's door.

"Madam, why are you up so early?" Aunt Zheng asked sleepily.

Since Yunyan became pregnant, she rarely wakes up so early, especially in the later stages of pregnancy. Basically, she gets up only after making breakfast for herself every day.

"Auntie Zheng, I think I'm about to give birth!" Yun Yan said.

"What, you're going to give birth?" Aunt Zheng's sleepiness disappeared immediately when she heard Yun Yan's words.

"How often do you feel pain now?" Aunt Zheng asked after helping Yunyan sit down.

"About once every half an hour." Yun Yan said.

"There's no rush. It's still early for the baby to be born! I'll call Mr. Shen first and ask him to send a car over. Then I'll go prepare breakfast. You must eat a full stomach before going to the hospital!" Aunt Zheng said.

She had given birth to several children and was very experienced in childbirth! After listening to Yun Yan's description of the interval between contractions, according to her experience, Yun Yan's child would not be born until the afternoon at the earliest.

She first called Mr. Shen to tell him the news that Yun Yan was about to give birth, and then immediately started preparing breakfast.

Just as breakfast was ready, Grandma Liang came over. After asking about Yunyan's situation, she finally put her mind at ease.

After breakfast, she and Aunt Zheng took Yunyan to the hospital. They went to the same hospital where Yunyan was going for a prenatal check-up. They had already made arrangements.

After Yunyan arrived at the hospital, someone immediately took her to the ward.

The doctor sounded her cervix and said that it had not yet opened and she would probably have to wait until the afternoon to give birth.

Yunyan didn't expect that probing the cervix would be so painful, it made her cry!

She felt that she never wanted to have children again because it was too much suffering.

Before her cervix opened, Yunyan asked Aunt Zheng to help her walk around the hospital, hoping to make her uterus open a little faster. She also held on to the railing and did squats!

The contractions were getting shorter and shorter, and now they occurred basically every ten minutes or so. Yunyan also felt the pain was getting more and more severe.

Every time I did it, the pain was so severe that I had to stop and take a deep breath, even my toes would curl up in pain.

At noon, the nanny from Grandpa Shen's side brought lunch. Yun Yan was in so much pain that she had no appetite and couldn't eat anymore after just two bites!

At one o'clock, Yunyan felt something flowing out from below.

She thought she had wet her pants and quickly called Aunt Zheng over.

Aunt Zheng lifted her quilt and found that her amniotic fluid had broken. She asked Grandma Liang to take care of Yunyan and she immediately ran to find a doctor.

The doctor came over soon and sounded Yunyan's cervix again. He said that it was already four to five fingers dilated and she would be in the delivery room soon.

This time, Yun Yan felt no pain at all. The contractions were so frequent that she couldn't even feel the pain anymore!

Soon Yunyan was pushed into the delivery room, and Grandma Liang and Aunt Zheng were waiting anxiously outside the delivery room.

In Shenzhen, ever since he received a call from his grandmother saying that Yun Yan was about to give birth, Chen Ye has been absent-minded and doesn't know how his wife is doing now.

The secretary next to him called him several times before he came to his senses.

"Director Shen, if you are really worried about your wife, why don't you go to the construction site for inspection today!" said the secretary.

He looked at Shen Ye's absent-minded look and was really worried that something might happen to him on the construction site.

Shen Ye also agreed to the secretary's suggestion. He really didn't have the heart to inspect the construction site today.

Because this was Yunyan's first child, the birth was a bit difficult. After four hours in the delivery room, the baby was finally born.

"Congratulations, it's a son! A big fat boy weighing 7.42 jins!" The doctor held the cleaned baby to Yunyan.

Yun Yan lay on the delivery bed, sweating profusely, looking at the baby the doctor brought in. It was so small and pink, and its eyes hadn't even opened yet!

She was so exhausted that she asked the doctor to take the child out to see Grandma Liang, and then she fainted from exhaustion.

The three people who were waiting anxiously outside the door saw the doctor coming out with the child and hurried over.

"Congratulations, old leader, it's a big fat boy! Mother and child are safe!" said the doctor with a smile.

"Good, good, good! Hello, big fat boy!" Grandpa Shen happily took the child.

"How is my granddaughter-in-law?" asked Grandma Liang.

"Don't worry, she will be out soon." said the doctor with a smile.

Grandma Liang and Aunt Zheng went to the ward to wait for Yunyan, and Grandpa Shen carried his great-grandson to the doctor’s office.

He used the hospital's phone to call Shen Ye's office and told him that Yun Yan had given birth.

In order to wait for news from Beijing, Shen Ye stayed in the office and did not go home even when it was time to get off work.

After receiving a call from his grandfather and knowing that Yunyan and her child were safe, he finally felt relieved!

When Yunyan woke up, it was already past ten o'clock in the evening. Aunt Zheng saw that she was awake and fed her some hot chicken soup.

"Yan Yan, you've worked so hard!" said Grandma Liang.

"Grandma, we are a family, there is no need to say such polite words." Yun Yan said.

The child was born to her, so she didn't need anyone else's gratitude.

After drinking the soup, Aunt Zheng helped Yunyan get up. The doctor said that a mother who had just given birth should not lie down all the time. She should walk around more so that the waste can be discharged faster!

"Auntie Zheng, has the child eaten?" Yun Yan asked.

"I ate and drank some of the milk powder you prepared in advance!" said Aunt Zheng.

Yunyan started having milk on the second day after the baby was born, and the baby finally didn't need to drink milk powder anymore.

On the afternoon of the third day, the doctor examined her wound and told her she could be discharged from the hospital.

Yunyan didn't want to stay in the hospital, so she asked Aunt Zheng to handle the discharge procedures.

Soon Grandpa Shen and Grandma Liang came with the driver and took Yunyan home.

As soon as she got home, the phone rang. Aunt Zheng quickly put down her things and went to answer the call.
