Chapter 71: Oaths Are Lies

Afterwards, the relative who was beaten brought people to ask grandma for compensation. Yun Yan scolded them and beat up several of the people she brought.

From then on, all the relatives would avoid Yunyan when they saw her, and she didn't care about their opinions at all.

After her grandmother passed away, Yunyan would never return to her hometown except on the anniversary of her parents and grandmother's death. It was a sad place for her.

Whether in college or after starting work, Yunyan has no shortage of suitors. However, she has no interest in marriage and children, and only wants to work hard to make money. Her unfortunate childhood taught her that money is more reliable than people and can bring a greater sense of security.

Without a stable economic foundation, she would not consider getting married and having children because she does not want her children to become another version of herself.

The memories of the past were brought back to reality by the knock on the door. Yun Yan wiped the tears from her face with her hands and put the photo frame into the space.

"Yun Yan, are you asleep?" Shen Ye's voice came from outside the door.

Yun Yan took a breath and said calmly, "Not yet. What's wrong with you?"

"It's okay, I just want to remind you to go to bed early." Chen Ye heard that Yun Yan's tone was not right, as if she had been crying, so he swallowed back what he wanted to say.

"I understand. If you have nothing to do, you should go to bed early. Don't you have to get up early to catch the bus tomorrow morning?" Yun Yan reminded.

"Okay, good night." After saying that, Shen Ye lay back on the armchair.

Through the crack in the door, he saw that the candlelight in Yunyan's bedroom had gone out, and he couldn't fall asleep in the darkness.

Why was Yun Yan crying? What secret was she hiding? For the first time, Shen Ye wanted to understand a girl's past and know all her thoughts.

The next morning, before dawn at six o'clock, Chen Ye, who hadn't slept all night, left with his luggage. He placed a letter on the table and wrote down everything he wanted to say.

Before leaving, he took a look at Yunyan's bedroom, believing that one day he would be able to impress Yunyan.

Yunyan didn't wake up until eight o'clock. Maybe it was because she cried last night, her eyes felt dry. She took a look in the mirror and found that her eyes were swollen.

She went to the bathroom and applied cold water to her eyes, which made her feel much better. After a quick wash, she planned to go to the kitchen to make a bowl of noodles for breakfast. When she left the bedroom, the living room was empty, and there was a letter on the table.

Yun Yan originally thought that it was a message from Chen Ye asking her to help take care of his grandparents, but she didn't expect it to be a love letter.

"Yun Yan, when you read this letter, I have already left the Red Flag Brigade. I have a lot to say to you, but I don't know where to start. Meeting you is another starting point in my life. You have made me understand what it feels like to love someone. You are the wife I want to be with for the rest of my life. I wonder if you are willing to accompany me all the way. Although I may not have much time to accompany you in the days to come, I will give you all my love. I will be loyal to you forever, just like I am loyal to the motherland and the party. I hope you can give me a chance to prove myself, and also give yourself a chance to let me enter your heart. Chen Ye left a note."

Yun Yan looked at this heartfelt confession letter, sneered and ignored it.

Take the letter to the kitchen and burn it in the oven. A man's oath is nothing but a lie, and only an idiot would believe it.

After breakfast, Yunyan went to her bedroom and prepared some red envelopes, each containing only two cents, for good luck.

Yunyan went out wearing new clothes and taking red envelopes. On the way, she met Hu Zi and several other kids playing with firecrackers.

"Sister Yun! Sister Yun, Happy New Year." Hu Zi and the others saw Yun Yan happily running over to wish her a happy new year.

"Happy New Year, Sister Yun. May you be prosperous and get the red envelope." Shi Tou said the auspicious words with a smile on his face, stretching his hands upwards in front of Yun Yan.

Yun Yan smiled and pinched his little face which was red from the cold, and took out a few red envelopes from her shirt pocket.

"Sister also wishes you a happy new year! Here, I'll give each of you a red envelope. You've grown one year older, so you must be more sensible in the future." Yun Yan smiled and gave each of them a red envelope.

"Thank you, Sister Yun." Several children took the red envelopes and thanked Yun Yan happily.

"Sister Yun, I got 80 points in both subjects in last year's final exam. I'm awesome, right?" Hu Zi looked at Yun Yan as if asking for praise.

"Hu Zi is really amazing. He actually scored 80 points. He is indeed a good boy who loves to study." Yun Yan praised him.

Hu Zi usually only gets a passing grade, but he actually scored 80 in this final exam, which is indeed worthy of praise.

"Sister Yun, I wanted to tell you a long time ago, but I always couldn't see you. Grandpa and grandma said you were busy and that you were helping the village make a lot of money, so they didn't let me disturb you." Hu Zi said somewhat aggrievedly.

Yun Yan bent down and touched his little face, then said with a smile, "Hu Zi is really sensible. He knew that his sister was busy with important matters and didn't come to disturb her. Look, I know it now too."

After hearing Yun Yan's words, Hu Zi immediately smiled again and ran to play firecrackers with other children.

Yun Yan looked at their carefree appearance and felt very envious. She once was as carefree as them.

When she first met Qian Qian, she thought that if her parents were still alive, she would also grow up happily in the love of her parents like Qian Qian.

She envied Qian Qian, so she treated Qian Qian as her imaginary self, and always protected her from being polluted by those dirty things, her innocence and kindness. Unexpectedly, Qian Qian was a hypocritical saintly bitch.

After walking outside for a while, they went to the homes of several familiar aunts and sisters to pay New Year's greetings. Near noon, the team leader brought Yunyan back home, saying that he had something to discuss with her.

"Yun Zhiqing, we made some money this year from sweet potato vermicelli. After the brigade starts work in a few days, I want the workshop to continue making sweet potato vermicelli. I wonder if you can bring back more orders?" said the brigade leader.

"Captain, you don't have to worry about orders. As long as more and more people know about the sweet potato vermicelli, we won't have to worry about not being able to sell it. Besides, the educated youth who took the sweet potato vermicelli home haven't returned yet. Maybe they will bring us some orders by then." Yun Yan patiently explained to the captain.

"Then I feel relieved. All the villagers who raised funds have made money, and everyone has had a happy New Year." The team leader said with a smile.

This sweet potato vermicelli workshop not only made him money, but also increased his prestige among the villagers.

Yun Yan looked at the captain's smiling face and interrupted his sweet dream.

"Captain, instead of worrying about not being able to sell the sweet potato vermicelli, you should worry about what to do with the sweet potatoes that are left."
