Chapter 23 Tin Box

Hongxing Town is not big. Gou Suisui took less than two hours to walk around it and figure out the approximate location of the black market.

I just didn't see any bookstore. Gou Suisui thought to himself that he would go to the county town someday to have a look. There should be one there.

I looked at the sun and it was already noon, so I could go to the state-owned restaurant to see if there was anything delicious.

Passing by a dilapidated storefront, Gou Suisui took a quick look and saw that one side of the two door panels seemed about to fall off, which made people lose interest at first glance.

Gou Suisui didn't care at first, but after taking two steps, an idea flashed in his mind.

I immediately turned around and looked at the door. Sure enough, the words "Scrap Recycling Station" were written crookedly on the wall with white chalk. If you didn't look carefully, you couldn't see it at all.

She had read novels before the end of the world, and most of her understanding of this era came from novels and television.

Who knows, there might be something good in this recycling bin?

Thinking of this, Gou Suisui went into the recycling station.

There was a table inside the door, blocking half of the threshold, and behind the table sat an old man in his fifties.

Someone came in, and the old man raised his eyelids, holding the red book in his hand, looking like he was studying seriously:

"Find what you want, just pick it up. Books and newspapers are ten cents for five kilograms, and anything else is three cents. Don't mess around."

Gou Suisui responded, his eyes swept across the room filled with various items, locked onto the "mountain of books" piled in the corner, and walked over.

After searching for a long time, Gou Suisui finally found the six-year textbooks for junior high and high school that he wanted. He didn't know how long they had been piled in the corner, and the musty smell was quite choking.

Gou Suisui picked up a rope from the spot, tied up a pile of books, and carried them to the door to weigh them.

It’s not that she wasn’t greedy, she just wanted to see if she could get a bargain.

In fact, she had calculated that there was less than a year left before the turmoil ended.

Even if there were any good things, they would have been picked up two years ago.

Even if there were any omissions, they would have been screened out through the thorough screening over the years.

When Gou Suisui was walking past a pile of broken tables and chairs, she accidentally tripped over a protruding chair leg. If she hadn't been agile, she would have fallen to the ground.

She patted her trouser legs and looked down to see a tin box the size of an adult man's palm that had just rolled out from the pile of debris.

I picked it up for some unknown reason. My hand was covered in rust, but it still felt quite heavy in my hand.

Gou Suisui thought about it and decided not to throw the box away. He took it and weighed it together with the books to pay for it.

After leaving the recycling station, he found an empty corner and threw the things into the space. Gou Suisui clapped his hands, wiped them carefully with a wet wipe, and then took a bottle of mineral water to rinse his hands.

Then he went to the state-owned restaurant and ordered a bowl of臊子面.

Originally, Gou Suisui had no expectations for restaurants of this era, but when he saw the noodles being served, he found that each strand was of uniform thickness and looked smooth and chewy.

Not to mention how overpowering the fragrance was, the color alone was enough to make one's mouth water. Even Gou Suisui, who was not very hungry, had his stomach growl.

She didn't hesitate any more and immediately slurped it into her mouth!

The chewy taste that filled the entire mouth made Gou Suisui so moved that he wanted to cry.

The last time I had such delicious handmade ramen was a long time ago. I never thought that there are still people with such good skills in this day and age!

If this were to open a noodle shop, wouldn't the business be booming?

After swallowing a large bowl of noodles, Gou Suisui realized that she had eaten too much. If her stomach wasn't completely empty, she would have even wanted to drink the soup...
