Chapter 58 It's Not Her Fault

The group had just walked out of the yard of the educated youth center and were standing on the road beside it when they heard a rumbling sound from the back mountain, like thunder.

The sound became louder and louder, as if something was coming like a tidal wave.

It was impossible to see people's faces in the pitch-black night. A few educated youth held flashlights in their hands, and they looked in the direction of the sound coming from behind the educated youth point with pale faces.

But it was still unclear. Now that it was farther away, Gou Suisui knew what it was.

Ever since she felt something was wrong, her mental strength had never left her. It was a landslide.

As the ground beneath his feet shook more and more, a loud thud of something heavy hitting something and the sound of a house collapsing echoed through the rainy night.

The male educated youth clenched their teeth, the female educated youth couldn't help but scream, and Wang Qiaoru grabbed Gou Suisui's clothes with fear on her face.

A huge rock hit a house and rolled around before stopping. Lights were turned on in the village not far away, and some people were shouting and running towards the educated youth site with flashlights.

"Sui, Sui, if it weren't for you, we would all be buried there." Wang Qiaoru was shivering with cold and her voice shuddered.

"The female educated youths please count the number of people, and I will count the male educated youths to see if there are any missing people!" The person who spoke was Lin Qiyuan, the person in charge of the male educated youths. He had a square face and was tall. He was a mature and steady person, like an older brother. He was the first to come to Xiangyang Brigade.

Gou Suisui just took a quick glance and knew that there was one female educated youth missing, but she didn't say anything.

The frightened female educated youth were all numb. Wang Qiaoru, standing next to Gou Suisui, was a little calmer. She quickly counted the number of people: "Comrade Lin, there's one missing female educated youth here. I don't know who it is."

It was too dark, and the nodding light was dim, not illuminating anyone, so I couldn't tell which one was missing.

The male educated youth were all present, so Lin Qiyuan hurried over with a flashlight.

There were a total of fifteen educated youth, excluding Zhou Lanying who had moved away earlier, there were eight male educated youth and six female educated youth.

Lin Qiyuan shone the light on their faces and counted them one by one, but the educated youth named Sun Yao was missing.

"Liu Cao, isn't Sun Yao with you? Where is she?" Wang Qiaoru stared at Liu Cao and asked loudly.

Liu Cao held Hu Jie tightly beside him, his eyes dodging as he said, "Just now she said she was sleepy and didn't come out. I called her, but she refused to follow me."

Wang Qiaoru opened her mouth, not knowing what to say.

Normally, Sun Yao and Liu Cao are the only two people who are close to each other. Liu Cao always likes to exaggerate when speaking. If it weren't for Sun Yao, no one would be willing to play with Liu Cao.

Wang Qiaoru looked at Lin Qiyuan beside her. In the dim light, his face looked very unhappy.

When Lin Qiyuan heard Liu Cao say that Sun Yao went back to sleep, his heart sank.

Everyone was silent for a moment as they looked at the ruined educated youth site. Everyone had only one thought in their mind: Sun Yao was probably in great danger.

The cold rain lashed at people, making them feel so cold that their bones ached.

Liu Cao felt suffocated. Were they all blaming her? Did she have an obligation to pull Sun Yao into the rain just because she and Sun Yao were close?

The more Liu Cao thought about it, the more he felt that others were staring at him, with contempt and condemnation in their eyes.

She opened her eyes and looked towards the educated youth site, but could not see anything except a huge rock. However, she seemed to hear Sun Yao's voice in her ears:

Why didn't you ask me to come with you? Why? It's all your fault! You're the one who killed me! I won't let you go, absolutely not!

Liu Cao's face showed fear, and tears welled up in her eyes, mixing with the rain and becoming indistinguishable.
