Chapter 33 Distance
For a moment, Yu Yu didn't know how to react.
Deep in my heart is a twisted mixture of humiliation and resentment, but also accompanied by intense anxiety and fear.
Wei Yuan's attitude towards Yu Zhi changed so quickly during this period that she was caught off guard and was killed in a chaotic situation.
But after all, she was in the wrong yesterday, and Yu Zhi would definitely take advantage of the situation and maybe even pretend to be aggrieved in front of Wei Yuan to sow discord between them.
But if she took the initiative to apologize and admit her mistake first, and lowered her attitude, and Yu Zhi continued to be aggressive, Wei Yuan would definitely have less sympathy for her.
Yu Yu put on an expression of self-blame and guilt and walked over slowly.
"A Yuan, are you here to see Xiao Zhi?" She said softly, "They did go too far yesterday, but it won't happen again. I'm sorry, Xiao Zhi."
Since Yu Zhi is no longer easily angered, there is naturally no need to use such low-level tricks.
She was a little uneasy about Yu Zhi's current appearance, personality, and methods, but with the comfort and persuasion of her friends, she regained her confidence.
Even though Yu Zhi has become smarter and is good in everything, her biggest flaw is that she has no talent for healing.
There is no need for me to care so much about her little tricks, just like why should the clouds in the sky compete with the mud on the ground?
Wei Yuan looked at Yu Zhi without expressing his opinion.
Yu Zhi, however, did not seem to be angry with Yu Yi: "Sister, you don't have to apologize to me. The one who did the wrong thing should apologize."
Yu Yu paused as he was about to say something.
What did Yu Zhi mean by this? Was he trying to force her to sacrifice her own pawns to save her king?
"I also want them... but they don't listen to me." Yu Yu said apologetically.
Yu Zhi said "oh", smiled nonchalantly, and leaned towards Wei Yuan affectionately.
"But it doesn't matter. Receiving a gift today can be considered a blessing in disguise." She winked at Wei Yuan playfully and said jokingly.
Wei Yuan did not show any rejection, but instead smiled slightly.
Yu Yi then noticed the perfume gift box beside her. Her expression froze and her face turned pale: "A Yuan, you guys..."
Wei Yuan looked at her doubtfully, still retaining his gentlemanly demeanor and consideration: "Are you feeling unwell? Do you want to go and rest for a while?"
Yu Yi dug his nails into his flesh, trying hard not to get irritated by Yu Zhi's bitchy behavior.
"I'm fine. A Yuan, why did you give Xiao Zhi this?" She tried her best to make her tone sound less strange and stiff, but she still couldn't suppress the grievance. "This is a gift for a couple."
"Ah..." Yu Zhi screamed first, her eyes widened and she jumped back as if she had been electrocuted.
Wei Yuan's originally calm expression cracked like plaster, and his bronze skin showed a rare obvious blood color, from his neck all the way to his ears.
"I...I don't know this is..." He even stuttered a little.
The beautiful thoughts that I wanted to hide carefully were suddenly exposed because of such a mistake. The first thing that came to my mind was the fear that she would stay away from me after knowing it.
He just wanted to quickly clarify this "misunderstanding" so that Yu Zhi wouldn't think he was a vile and shameless beast - even though he already thought so.
"I'm sorry, Zhizhi," he said quickly, "that's not what I meant..."
Yu Zhi breathed a sigh of relief and regained her normal demeanor: "It's okay, I didn't know this gift had this meaning. But the meaning of a gift should be freely given by us, right? It's just perfume, and there's no real rule that it can only be given between couples, right?"
"I really like this gift. If Brother Wei Yuan wants to take it back, I will be sad."
Wei Yuan couldn't tell what was going on in his mind. It was as if his heart was lifted up and then dropped back down, yet he also seemed a little lost.
The corners of Yu Yi's eyes twitched unconsciously, and the grievances that had been suppressed in his chest for too long were about to burst out.
Wei Yuan's first reaction was to apologize to Yu Zhi? He gave such an ambiguous gift to another woman, so shouldn't he apologize to her?
No matter how much she cared about Wei Yuan's identity, Yu Yi was, after all, a proud girl who had been raised in pampered condition and had almost never suffered any injustice. How could she bear the humiliation of being slapped in the face?
"Wei Yuan," she didn't even want to call him intimately anymore, "Don't you want to say something to me?"
"I'm sorry, Xiaoli," Wei Yuan said, genuinely apologizing to her, "I really didn't know this gift had such a meaning."
Is that it?
Is there nothing more to say?
Can he and Yu Zhi be so close and protect her in every way?
A series of questions popped up in Yu Yi's mind, and she suddenly felt that she didn't want to endure it anymore. As an S-level healer, why should she endure it?
"A Yuan, I am obviously your matched healer, why do you care more about Yu Zhi?" She asked with red eyes.
Wei Yuan pursed his lips, and out of the corner of his eye he noticed that the little girl next to him looked a little uneasy.
"Let's talk alone." He stood up and wanted to go to a private space.
"Why can't we talk here?" Yu Yu stared at him and said word by word, "Is there anything you can't let her hear?"
Wei Yuan finally compromised and said with difficulty: "Xiao Li, Zhi Zhi is your sister, and I treat her as my sister...that's all."
He couldn't and didn't dare let Yu Zhi find out that he had such thoughts about her.
The little girl wholeheartedly treated him as her brother, and he didn't want those eyes full of dependence and trust to turn into disgust.
Yu Yu curled the corners of his mouth but didn't say whether he believed it or not.
Instead, Yu Zhi spoke awkwardly: "Sister, I didn't know you would mind... I will keep a good distance from... my brother-in-law in the future."
Wei Yuan opened his mouth, but in the end no sound came out.
What right did he have to interfere? He had already begun to overstep his bounds, so perhaps it would be best if Zhizhi took the initiative to stay away from him.
Wei Yuan came to the Yu family with full of anticipation and joy, but when he left, he was left with only torment and torture.
Only Yu Yu and Yu Zhi were left in the living room.
The congestion and dementia impulses subsided, and Yu Yi slowly regained her sanity. She looked at Yu Zhi without saying a word, but felt increasingly unfamiliar with her.
Yu Yu knew the sharpness that Yu Zhi had hidden, and Yu Zhi also knew the darkness and distortion beneath Yu Yu's fair face.
They both knew that the other knew the secret, but they tacitly kept it between themselves and fought with their own abilities.
But when did Yu Zhi change? Yu Yi thought back.
All the events during this period flashed through her mind quickly, focusing on the night of the family dinner when Yu Zhi was allergic.
An absurd yet reasonable guess flashed through his mind.
