He Xiaohua is seven years old and attends the village primary school. As an only child, he may not be as well off as the children in the city in terms of material conditions, but he has received just as much love and care during his growth.
So he held his chest high, looking at the unfamiliar tall buildings and the respectable pedestrians passing by, surprised but not inferior, simply observing the new things.
After picking up the person, several people walked out while talking. He Xiaohua suddenly reminded them, "Mom and Dad, didn't grandpa and grandma ask you to bring beans and some spare clothes for our family?"
"Oh, yes, it was too crowded just now, and I almost forgot to take my things."
He Qiu Sheng slapped his forehead, got into the car again, and took down a large bag of flour.
He Xiaotuan was speechless. "Uncle San, you didn't forget anything this time, did you? If the car leaves later, I won't be able to find it again."
"No, that's all. I'm too lazy to bring more things." He Qiu Sheng has always been too lazy to be justified.
"Okay, then you sit down, my aunt and I will take you back."
He Xiaotuan carried his younger brother to the front of the 28-inch bicycle and let his uncle sit in the back. He Ruixue took his third sister-in-law with him, and they all rushed to his eldest brother's house.
Before I even entered the room, I heard Zhao Meiya complaining, "Just make two meat dishes. They really can't eat enough meat. It's all Dongbao's money."
"Mom, why are you here?"
"You buy so many things, can I not come and watch?"
She pointed towards the courtyard and said, "There are a lot of people watching us. How can Lu Lan stand in the way? Dongbao, your second sister is used to living in luxury. She insisted on making four meat dishes. Even the landlords back then wouldn't do that."
"Mom, keep your voice down. Don't talk nonsense. Why don't you compromise and make three meat dishes, six vegetable dishes, and a cold dish to make it perfect. We didn't get together as a family last year, so this time it's appropriate."
Zhao Meiya listened to her advice and said, "Okay, I'll go stew the chicken first. This takes a lot of effort. Xia Sheng, can you kill a duck?"
"That's not difficult."
He Xiasheng confidently reached out and cut the neck to let the blood. His hands were so steady as if he was performing an operation. The duck didn't even have time to quack before it was done.
The hot water on the coal stove was still boiling. She was about to reach for the iron kettle, but Zhao Meiya blocked her way with her hand. "Come on, your hands are precious. You rely on them to make a living. If you burn them, I won't be able to explain to Qiao Rui. Go wash the seafood. I'm afraid it won't be clean enough."
The whole family was busy in the kitchen, with the stoves on both sides working at the same time. The eldest sister-in-law stayed at He Ruixue's house to cook rice and stew lamb, and also prepared the vegetarian dishes so that they could be fried in the pan later.
They cooked chicken, duck and fish, and the aroma spread from ten miles away. The mixture of the flavors of various meats made the children in the yard so greedy that they rolled around and cried for it, and even the adults couldn't help but drool.
Someone wanted to ask for a bowl of soup, but when he saw Zhao Meiya sitting outside the kitchen with a ferocious look on her face, he knew there was no hope.
They could only secretly curse the He family for getting chicken bones hitting their teeth while eating chicken, and fish bones stuck in their throats while eating fish. They closed the door angrily, and soon they heard the sound of scolding children.
Zhao family
Taking a deep breath of the fragrance in the air, Zhao Erhe smacked his lips twice. Thinking that there were only beans and cabbage at home, and the staple food was cornmeal and sweet potato cubes, he turned his head away in annoyance and found a random excuse to quarrel with his wife.
The couple are both very shrewd. They specifically pick on Du Chunhua to quarrel when she is at home. They openly and secretly say that the family is in financial difficulty. Don’t they just want the good sister-in-law to help out?
It would be best to ask Du Chunhua to bring back a few more dishes from the restaurant so that they can have a bite to eat.
As for her previous promise to help him find a job through connections, Zhao Erhe scoffed at it and had no hope. Not to mention that her sister-in-law was an outsider, even his brother might not want to see his younger brother's job surpass his own.
I heard that his sister-in-law is already asking how to transfer her household registration back after going to the countryside, which shows that Zhao Yong is confident in his job.
Zhao Erhe was indignant, but then he thought of Zhao Gang, who still had no job and could only work as a farmhand at his father-in-law's house. His eyes rolled and a plan came to his mind. "Chunfen, next time Gangzi comes back, please call me. I have something to tell him."
What is worrying is not the lack of wealth but the inequality. If the two brothers quarrel, it will be enough to give the eldest brother a headache.
"What can you say to him? Don't you have enough worries about your own children?"
"Just do as I say, you spendthrift woman! If you had your sister-in-law's ability, a job, or financial support from your family, our children wouldn't be inferior to Gangzi and the others."
"Humph, if you're half as good as my sister-in-law, I wouldn't be attracted to you. Your brother at least has a job, and what about you? Everyone looks for the right partner. Let's not look down on each other."
"Wow, you've really grown up. You want to fight me?"
Zhao Erhe stared at her in surprise. He never expected his wife, who had always endured humiliation, to contradict him. "I don't mind you having a rural household registration. Every month, it costs a lot of money to buy food for our children. Otherwise, I would have bought a job long ago. Isn't it all because of you that I am burdened by it?"
"Zhao Erhe, do you have any conscience? You always bring up the countryside. It was you who couldn't find a girl from the city and came to me, but now you're putting all the blame on me."
The old woman's scolding voice came from the main house, "What are you arguing about? Hurry up and cook!"
Liu Chunfen rolled her eyes and stood up reluctantly.
It's the same again. Every time she sees her son suffer a loss, she comes to put pressure on her. The old and immortal Yu Po, she eats the most in the family.
What a selfish thing! She said she was favoring her youngest son, but why wasn't she there when her children needed to pay tuition? Could she just bury that little money in the dirt?
…
The house was bustling with activity. He Ruixue saw Fang Wanggui coming back, so she found an excuse to go buy some tsaoko and poria cocos. She walked over to Fang's house, pretending to be selecting herbs, and asked him, "What's going on?"
