When she got home, He Ruixue was already shouting before she even entered the door, "Is my jelly ready? I went to the supply and marketing cooperative to get some ice cubes. It will taste better if you chill it and then mix it with water."
When I opened the door, the yard was eerily quiet; even the two dogs didn't come out to greet me.
He Ruixue walked to the main hall in confusion, only to see Zhao Meiya sitting in the middle with her eldest brother and his wife on her left, and her third sister-in-law on her right, as if she was about to go to court.
Jiang Yanxu sat on a small bench near the door like a primary school student who had made a mistake. His tall body was huddled together, making him look extremely cramped.
The two dogs sat on either side of Zhao Meiya, like two generals. When they saw her come in, they quickly left their grandmother's care and came up to her, wagging their tails, mainly circling around her backpack.
He Ruixue realized that the atmosphere was not right, so she took out the bone and threw it into the corner for the dog to chew on.
He turned on the fan to blow away the stuffy air in the room, and sat down next to the old lady.
"Mom, what's wrong? You always show displeasure when you come to my house. Don't you like me?"
"Hmph, eat the jelly. I'll bring you a bowl of cold water to wake you up."
Zhao Meiya's face was drawn as she pointed at Jiang Yanxu, "You let him live in your house for no apparent reason. If word gets out, he won't be a problem, but what about your reputation?"
He Ruixue smiled and hugged her arms, saying softly, "Mom, you misunderstood. He doesn't live with me. He just takes time out to help me clean the house and feed the dog."
"Who are you trying to fool? He was there when I came this morning. His workplace is quite far from here, right?
Don't be so playful with me, I've spoiled you too much and that's why you've become so stupid. Even if you're a partner, you can't be defenseless."
Zhao Meiya pretended to push her hand away twice, but failed to do so. "Hmph, your niece can't do those household chores. At worst, there are still your elder brother and his wife. Why do you need outsiders to interfere?"
Wang Taozhi rolled her eyes quietly.
They said this as if working for their sister-in-law was a blessing, and they were scrambling to do it.

Talking about the sad part, Zhao Meiya wiped away two tears. "I don't care what happens to your second sister, Dongbao. If you become like her, how can your father and I bear it?"
He Xiasheng is so love-sick, her mother must have a huge misunderstanding of her.
He Ruixue sighed and compromised, "Okay, Mom, you can do whatever you want. I won't get involved."
As she spoke, she gave Jiang Yanxu a helpless look.

The latter gave her a contemptuous look in response.

Jiang Yanxu quickly stood up, lowering his head, "Aunt, I was wrong."
