Chapter 5: Finding a Job

After running outside for most of the day, she was really hungry and ate a whole bowl of noodles in one gulp.

She took out a handkerchief and wiped her mouth. She then spent most of the day in the city library, wanting to learn more about current affairs of the era so as to avoid making the habit of saying the wrong thing in the future.

In addition, she also wanted to find out if she could become a translator, which was the easiest opportunity she could think of to come into contact with cultural people.

There are indeed opportunities, but we are not recruiting externally.

She didn't understand Russian and couldn't translate the documents. She knew a little German, but the city was not as good as the capital. Most of the machines in large factories were imported from Big Brother, so there was no need for her to translate.

As for English, in this special era, even her high school English teacher doesn't dare to speak freely, so where can she learn it?

She gave up the idea and borrowed a few books about human stories.

After leaving the library and walking halfway, I met a familiar figure in front of the government building.

Jiang Mengheng spotted her and quickened his pace to run towards her, wearing a military coat and shiny leather shoes.

He had an ordinary appearance, was tall but a little fat, and his hair seemed to be oiled and combed neatly behind his head. He looked like a respectable man.

He ran over in surprise, "He Ruixue, it's really you! I didn't recognize you when I saw you just now... Long time no see, what have you been busy with recently?"

He was a little reserved, a typical shy teenage boy, pacing on the spot, not knowing where to put his hands.

Another admirer of the original owner.

He Ruixue remembered that this boy had confessed his love twice, once in his second year of high school and once before graduation. The original owner rejected him both times because she thought he was not good-looking enough.

She shook her head with a hint of contempt, "No, it's cold and I don't want to go out."

Jiang Mengheng was already used to her perfunctory attitude and didn't mind her cold face. He rubbed his palms and said with a pleasant face, "It's a bit cold. Look, your face is red from the cold. I heard that the department store has just received a batch of alpaca coats, which are very warm. I'll take you to buy one. Choose your favorite color."

"No need, you're working now, don't spend the family's money casually."

Jiang Mengheng immediately showed a touched expression, his voice trembling, "He Ruixue, you are so kind, you still care about me. I thought you didn't want to care about me anymore... Last time I was too impulsive, I'm sorry, I embarrassed you."

It was about him confessing his love to her in front of the whole class.

"fine."

Everyone was cheering, probably because of the atmosphere, he was not the only one who confessed his love to the original owner that day.

When there are more people, the matter becomes humorous and others will think they are just fooling around, turning an embarrassing experience into a laughing stock.

"I'm glad you don't blame me. It's a rare opportunity to meet you, so I'll treat you to a meal. What do you want to eat? I have enough tickets on me!"

"No, I just ate. I'm not hungry yet."

Feeling the tone was too stiff, He Ruixue asked politely, "What do you do now?"

Jiang Mengheng pointed to the building behind and said, "I work in there, doing some clerical work, basically just organizing some documents. I'm not too busy usually. If you need any help, feel free to come and see me."

Working in the government?

Jiang Mengheng is a typical child of a wealthy family and the only son in the family. His father is the secretary general of the second-in-command in the city and is still gaining experience. Anyone with a discerning eye can see that once the leaders above him retire, he will definitely be the next second-in-command.

His grandfather participated in many battles in his early years and made outstanding contributions. It was said that he had close ties with a division commander in Kyoto. Although the old man was retired at home, he had not lost contact with him, so it was not difficult to arrange a job for him.

In fact, if Jiang Mengheng's mother hadn't been difficult to deal with, the original owner would have considered marrying him. After all, his family background was at the top level she could reach, and he was also very attentive to her.

However, He Ruixue has believed since childhood that there is no free lunch in the world, and even if she is in a hurry to find a job, she does not want to rely on others.

I chatted with him briefly and then said goodbye to him on the pretext of having something to do.

However, meeting her classmates gave her a new idea. She turned the handlebars, the bell rang, and she changed her route to her original high school.

When it comes to work resources, high school class teachers have the most. Before graduation, many factories will contact you to inquire about your opportunities. There may not be many opportunities, but the network of contacts you have is wide enough.

The high school was currently empty because of the holiday, so she asked a few people, found the housing estate where her homeroom teacher lived, and knocked on her door.

Only the homeroom teacher was at home. Seeing her coming, the short-haired woman in her forties was a little surprised. "He Ruixue? What do you want to talk to me about? Come in and tell me."

Although the original owner had a bad personality, he was good at disguising himself. To put it bluntly, he was a bully at home but restrained outside.

Even though she has a bad temper, she is pretty and knows how to act coquettishly, which only makes people think she is spoiled and cute.

Moreover, she was lazy and did not follow the radical classmates to make trouble. She spent the whole day criticizing this and that in school. In the eyes of the teachers who were unaware of the situation, she was well-behaved and quiet, so the head teacher actually had a good impression of her.

"Teacher Zhang, I'm here to thank you today."

He Ruixue walked in and placed a piece of bacon on the table. Seeing such a valuable gift, Zhang Lanxia immediately pushed it back with a serious expression, "What are you doing? Take it back quickly. If you have any difficulties, please tell me. Although the teacher can only help you in a limited way, I will definitely not ignore it."

Her eyes were sincere, and her tone quickened. "You misunderstood. I'm not here to ask you for a favor. I just wanted to thank you. I'm not very smart and can't remember information well. If it weren't for the review materials you gave me, I might not even get my certificate of completion."
