"I don't grow many potatoes. I just keep them at home as a staple food and don't sell them."
Instead of selling the potatoes that we've worked so hard to grow at a low price, we might as well find a way to process them and maybe sell them for double the price!
Zhao Yanfeng didn't think much of it, "Just deliver them to our factory whenever we have enough for 100 jin of green beans."
Zhao Yanfeng then wrote a purchase order and stamped it with the steel factory's seal. Besides 100 jin of cabbage and 80 jin of radishes, it also included 100 jin of green beans.
Zhao Youcai put away the purchase order, then stood up and put the brown paper bag containing large meat buns on the table next to the red bean buns in the basket.
"I need to hurry home and carry sacks of vegetables; I haven't delivered the vegetables to the textile factory yet."
Upon hearing this, Zhao Yanfeng realized she would have to go home and carry sacks of vegetables to deliver them.
Looking again at Zhao Youcai's clothes, although they were clean, they were patched upon patched.
Zhao Yanfeng slapped her thigh lightly, "It's my fault for not thinking of this floor. Luckily, our purchasing department has a spare handcart. Brother, you can take it back and use it first."
Zhao Youcai certainly wouldn't be polite; having a handcart did indeed reduce a lot of trouble.
At least when I deliver vegetables again, I don't have to worry about others finding out that I can take things out of the farm's warehouse.
After thanking him, Zhao Youcai exchanged a few more polite words with Zhao Yanfeng before pushing his chipped handcart away.
After leaving the steel mill and turning a corner to make sure no one was around, Zhao Youcai quickly placed another pile of packaged vegetables from the farm warehouse onto a handcart, covered it with burlap sacks as usual, and headed straight for the textile factory.
It was the same gatekeeper from yesterday. Upon seeing Zhao Youcai, who was delivering vegetables, he immediately beamed and ran out of the duty room.
"I've been waiting so long I'm practically a turtle! You've finally arrived! Our director gave the instructions a long time ago that we'd take you straight to the kitchen as soon as you got here!"
Zhao Youcai had no objection to this, after all, he wasn't that familiar with the purchasing director of the textile factory, and he was quite busy with work all day.
After the 120 jin of vegetables were delivered and he received 7.2 yuan and a list of vegetables needed for the next day, Zhao Youcai was about to leave when he was suddenly stopped by a middle-aged man carrying a bag.
"You're the one stealing my business, you old geezer?"
Before Zhao Youcai could react, the middle-aged man, looking extremely greasy, switched the bag under his arm to the other side and patted his belly, which looked like he was six months pregnant.
"You didn't even bother to find out who owns this textile factory. You dare to get involved in my business? You've got some nerve, old man!"
Zhao Youcai frowned. Where did this idiot come from?
Looking at his old-fashioned appearance, you'd think he was older than you.
"What's the meaning?"
Upon hearing Zhao Youcai's question, the middle-aged man immediately became impatient and said, "What do you mean? It means you don't need to come to this textile factory anymore!"
"I've always been the one delivering the vegetables to the textile factory; it's none of your business as an outsider."
Zhao Youcai suddenly realized that he had offended someone because of his delivery of vegetables to the textile factory.
However, Zhao Youcai was no pushover and wouldn't back down just because some nobody said a few words.
"I discussed the vegetable supply with the purchasing director. Why should I be forced to quit just because you say so?"
Hearing Zhao Youcai's words, the middle-aged man let out a sneer, "I didn't expect you old man to be so stubborn. I'm in a good mood today, so I'll waste a few more words with you."
Zhao Youcai felt that the man in front of him had a really sharp tongue and looked like a pushover who had grown up in a smooth-sailing environment and had never experienced the harsh realities of society.
"Because the factory manager is my brother-in-law!"
"Don't even mention an old man like you. Who in the entire textile factory dares to go against me? I can fire any worker in the factory with just one word!"
After saying that, the middle-aged man casually pointed to a vegetable preparation worker and said, "Go to the purchasing department and tell them that the factory manager's brother-in-law is here to discuss a business deal with him."
Seeing how arrogant the other party was, Zhao Youcai could easily understand.
This guy must be one of the factory's most powerful connections. Judging from his bossy attitude towards others, he probably has a lot of influence in the factory.
This is normal, though, since factory managers hold a very high position these days. Don't underestimate this guy just because he's a vegetable vendor; he can act like he owns the place in the factory simply because he's the factory manager's brother-in-law.
Soon, the purchasing director rushed to the cafeteria, greeting the middle-aged man with a smile.
Unfortunately, the middle-aged man showed him no respect whatsoever, simply pointing a finger at Zhao Youcai without even glancing at him, and asked with utter contempt:
"I heard from this old man that you were the one who made the decision for your textile factory to buy his vegetables? What, do you have a problem with my vegetables, or with my brother-in-law?"
"What are you saying!" Upon hearing this, the purchasing director quickly waved his hand and smiled apologetically, his heart pounding wildly in his chest.
The man in front of me usually makes a mess of the factory by relying on his status as the factory manager's brother-in-law. He's universally disliked. How did I end up provoking him?
"I was just thinking that the textile factory wasn't getting enough vegetables lately, and luckily he had a lot, so I bought a little to keep on hand."
The purchasing manager was getting really annoyed. The vegetables delivered by the factory manager's brother-in-law were not only short-weight, but also consisted of old cabbage stalks and rotten leaves, making up at least 30% of the total.
I finally found two that looked fairly fresh, but they had been soaked in water before being delivered. After cooking them, there weren't many left.
Unfortunately, the factory director's brother-in-law bought all the vegetables at the highest price, resulting in significantly excessive costs. If this continues, he might lose his position as director.
In addition, the leaders might suddenly come to inspect the factory one day, so how are we going to entertain them with those lousy dishes?
