Chapter 2 Want to split up? First, spit out what you've eaten.

Zhao Youcai could hardly believe the dubious claims about the pill's effects. If he encountered such an advertisement anywhere else, he would have reported it immediately. What else could this be but false advertising to swindle money from elderly people!

But this was a cheat code that only he could see, and this was a time of hardship after three years of famine, so Zhao Youcai had no choice but to believe it.

Ignoring his eldest son, who was sweating profusely and waiting for a response, Zhao Youcai turned to his fourth daughter-in-law, the most honest woman in the family, and said in a deep voice, "I want some water."

The fourth daughter-in-law was so frightened that she immediately ran towards the door. She looked as if she were being chased by a ghost, stumbling and swaying as she reached the kitchen and then staggered back.

Mei Mei came out of the toilet and washed her hands, only then noticing that it was already dark. Zhao Youcai walked into the house with his hands behind his back, picked up the tobacco pipe that had been laid out, sat back on the warm kang (heated brick bed), and looked around.

“The youngest son said a few days ago that he wanted to separate the family, so today we’re making things clear in front of the whole family.”

The youngest, Zhao Jianfei, was a little excited. They're here! They've finally arrived!

Zhao Youcai glanced at his youngest son, whose eyes were shining with excitement, tapped his pipe against the edge of the kang (a heated brick bed), and then continued expressionlessly with his eyelids slightly lowered:

"It's not impossible to split up the family and kick out these peasant family members, but first, give back all the food you've eaten. The money to send you to school wasn't earned by me alone, and the food, meat, eggs, and vegetables you eat weren't provided by me alone either."

"I won't overcharge you. Tuition, accommodation, living expenses, transportation, plus gifts for your teachers during holidays. You studied for ten more years than your brothers, so one hundred yuan a year isn't too much, is it?"
