Chapter 107 Helpless

“Wuwuwu… Wuwuwu…”

The child's crying was suppressed, as if he was deliberately suppressing his throat to prevent himself from bursting into tears.

Hua Shi quickened his pace and when he approached the gate of the Hua family's courtyard, he suddenly heard Li's disgusted voice coming through the crack in the door.

"Why are you crying? Who told you to bring back such a filthy thing? I haven't seen you for just a few days, and you think you've grown wings! ...Hua Li! Let go, or I'll throw you out the door too!"

"Wuwuwu... Milk, no! Please..."

Hua Li cried until she was almost out of breath, and her voice was full of sharp and desperate pleas.

"Bang!"

“Bang, bang—”

Suddenly, there was a sound of heavy objects knocking from inside the tightly closed courtyard door.

Hua Shi suddenly felt a cold sweat on her back. After not interacting with Li for a few days, she almost forgot about her existence...

“Wow, wow, wow…!”

In the yard, Hua Li's crying became more and more shrill, and it seemed that there was a dispute inside about something.

"Bang--!"

Hua Shi didn't have time to think about it, and reached out to push open the half-open gate.

In the messy courtyard, Hua Li was crying miserably, kneeling on the ground, holding Li's legs tightly with both hands.

Li was half-bent over, and in one of her raised hands, she was pinching a yellow-and-white-haired puppy.

The puppy's neck was being pinched hard, and its hind legs were hanging down, kicking weakly without making any sound. It was on the verge of death.

Hua Xiao held Xiaoying in his arms and curled up in a corner under the eaves. Hua Xiao just watched the scene with tears in her eyes, unable to do anything. Xiaoying was held in someone's hands, blinking her confused eyes, watching all this in confusion.

Among the four, Hua Yu, the oldest, was squatting by the well with his sleeves rolled up, seemingly washing something. He had his back to Li and Hua Li, and from the half of his face that was exposed, it could be seen that he was very calm and had no intention of trying to stop Li.

Hua Shi stood outside the door frame at the entrance of the courtyard, looking at everything inside the courtyard.

The sound of the courtyard door being pushed open caught Li's attention. Her wrinkled old face wrinkled grimly and she glared at Hua Shi fiercely.

“Wuwuwuwu… Grandma, please let it go… Wuwuwuwu… Please…”

Hua Li knelt on the ground, his face covered with tears and snot. His frail body tightly gripped one of Li's legs, and he used all his strength to pull her.

He raised his face and opened his mouth to beg for mercy, tears rolling down his eyes. His face was blue from the cold and he was almost crying.

Li's attention was diverted and suddenly fell back on Hua Li.

Li was so angry that she lost her mind. Seeing Hua Li pestering her again and again and refusing to listen to her, she pinched the dirty puppy's hand and tightened it slightly.

"Woof..."

The puppy let out a last shrill cry, and with a "crack", its fragile neck was broken by her.

The puppy's head drooped limply, and drops of bright red blood dripped from its closed mouth, flowing down Li's palm and onto the snowy ground.

“Wow wow!!”

Hua Li tilted her head back and watched helplessly as the fragile little life died so cruelly right under her eyes, her mouth wide open, her cries growing louder and louder.

Li stretched out her foot and kicked Hua Li, who was wrapped around her foot, away.

Hua Li held her stomach and let go when she felt pain.

"Bang……"

Li threw the dead puppy onto the snow in the yard.

It was a small, yellow-and-white puppy, covered in dirt. Its neck had been broken, twisted in a strange position, and blood oozed from its mouth...

Hua Li rushed over in despair, hugged the lifeless puppy tightly in her arms, held it against her chest, curled up, and was so sad that she couldn't control herself.

Dead...

Li wiped the blood off her hands, spat in disgust, walked to the well, and kicked Hua Yu who was squatting.

"Get out of the way, what are you doing blocking the way like a blockhead?!"

Hua Yu lowered his head and silently moved aside, making way for her.

Li reached her hand into the wooden basin, rubbed the blood off it vigorously, washed her hands clean, and then turned around and looked at Hua Shi outside the open courtyard gate.

I only heard her snort coldly, with a look of great fear on her face. She stared fiercely at the people in the yard, glanced around, and said in a stern voice,

"Don't think you can do whatever you want just because I've ignored you for half a month. This entire Hua family belongs to me. Without my permission, you can't touch a single inch of it! Do you hear me?!"

Li's sharp scolding voice echoed throughout the courtyard. The air was silent for a moment. Except for the sound of Hua Li lying on the ground and sobbing, the atmosphere was strangely suffocating.

“I heard…”

Hua Xiao in the corner was the first person to respond to Li's words.

After Li finished her intimidating words, she turned her head again and looked in the direction of Hua Shi. It was unknown what she was thinking of, but she just glared at her fiercely, clapped her hands, turned around and walked into the main hall.

Before leaving, she didn't forget to say in a stern voice, "Remember to clean the yard. Don't let me see that beast appear under my nose again. Oh, and remember to cook those two fish for me. Bring them all to the east room. Be honest and don't eat them secretly. I can see you!"
