Chapter 157 Second Brother Lies

She had always felt that her second brother's words were suspicious. He was only locking Hua Shi up to make it easier for her to get married off, and he was afraid that Hua Shi would run away if she disagreed, so he locked her up...

However, Hua Shi was clearly engaged to Second Brother Xie, so how could she marry someone else? Moreover, Second Brother did not mention a single word about who she was going to marry. After a little thought, she understood, especially when she saw Hua Shi tied up and dead in the small, dim kitchen.

There was no one else involved. These were all lies told by the second brother. Grandma and dad were dead, and there was no one else to take care of them. The second brother must be holding a grudge and wanted to... sell Hua Shi!

Marrying someone is just a pretext...

"Second brother..." Hua Xiao was stunned for a moment and murmured.

After she realized it clearly, she was still a little at a loss...

Hua Li was stunned for a moment, frightened by the scene before her. Her voice was choked with sobs: "Hua Xiao... Second Brother lied to us. What is he going to do? Why did he tie someone up?"

He asked helplessly, not stopping Hua Xiao this time, just wanting to know what was going on...

Hua Xiao shook her head.

Hua Li's eyes suddenly turned red, and he said helplessly: "How about we release her secretly..."

Before Hua Xiao could nod, she suddenly heard footsteps coming from far away outside the courtyard wall.

"Oh no! Second brother is back!" she exclaimed.

The two of them didn't care about anything else. When they heard the footsteps of their second brother coming back, they ran towards the main hall as if fleeing.

"Bang!"

In a moment, the half-closed wooden door was pushed open.

The backs of the two people running into the main room one after the other were caught red-handed by Hua Yu who pushed the door open.

The young man looked towards the kitchen with his sharp eyes, and saw that the two small wooden doors that were originally tightened were pushed open a crack, and the iron chains tied to them were stretched tightly.

His expression suddenly darkened.

"Hua Li!" He shouted in a deep voice towards the silent main room.

The two people huddled in the corner of the main hall, squatting on the ground, were caught off guard by the sound of the second brother's deep voice, and knew that the second brother must have known...

"Hua Xiao...what should we do?" Hua Li asked with red eyes and sobbing voice.

He is now trembling with fear...

"Hua Li! I don't want to call you a third time!"

The approaching footsteps and the impatient tone frightened Hua Li, who was curled up in fear, and the tears in her eyes suddenly fell.

He was so frightened that he couldn't stop shaking all over. He stood up unconsciously and walked out, choking his voice: "Second, Second Brother..."

Hua Li looked at her second brother walking towards her with tearful eyes, and her tears flowed even harder.

Hua Yu looked down at his timid brother with a gloomy face and asked coldly, "Why are you crying?"

Hua Li raised her head, her face flushed red, and she spoke incoherently, unable to speak: "I, I..."

"You ignored my words?"

This question, which was neither light nor heavy, frightened Hua Li so much that she hiccupped and then her tears flowed even harder.

Hua Xiao heard her second brother's cold voice and hurriedly ran out, begging in a tearful voice: "Second brother... please don't be like this, please let Hua Shi go..."

"Let her go?" Hua Yu turned to look at her, chuckled, and continued, "I don't care what you saw, just listen to me."

Perhaps Hua Yu felt that Hua Xiao and Hua Li had already discovered it, and fortunately he had no intention of hiding it any longer. His semi-threatening words further confirmed their suspicions.

Hua Xiao, tears in her eyes, mustered up her courage and pressed on, "Brother, what on earth are you going to do? Are you going to sell Hua Shi?"

When she listened to the women in the village gossiping, she would always hear some things about the town, saying that in Taohua Town, there were always many human traffickers at the end of the streets, pulling cages of slaves for sale.

After becoming slaves, they were even worse than animals. Why did these people become slaves? Most of them were sold by their families because they couldn't afford to eat. Some were kidnapped while fleeing, and naturally fell into slavery...

Although she didn't know where her second brother was going to sell Hua Shi, but...

"Second brother, please don't sell Hua Shi, okay? She has become a better person now and will never be the same as before..." Hua Xiao tried to plead for her.

After hearing her words, Hua Yu's expression darkened for a moment, and then returned to normal, without any sign of anger.

He suddenly raised his hand and stroked Hua Xiao's smooth hair, his tone cold: "Become better? Maybe, but Hua Xiao, how could you change so quickly? A few meals and a few clothes can make you side with her? Wasn't Second Brother good to you before?"

Hua Xiao gritted her teeth. Her head, being touched, felt a chill that made her shiver unconsciously. She replied tremblingly, "Second brother... is very good to me..."

He chuckled: "Ha... Since Second Brother treats you so well, just listen to him. Don't talk about those trivial things. It's none of your business to worry about Hua Shi's condition."

The last sentence, mixed with a hint of threat, was obviously directed at the two of them.

Hua Xiao's tears suddenly fell. She shook her head and said with difficulty: "Second brother, please tell me, are you going to sell her?"

The sound of her sobs rose higher and higher.

Hua Yu withdrew his hand and looked at the two people in front of him coldly, with tears streaming down his face, and stood still indifferently.

His silence is already the best answer.
