In the narrow house, Hua Shi stood in the middle of the room, concentrating and calming his mind, and walked around the room to search.
Hua Shidu carefully searched every corner where the cat could hide two or three times, whispered the black cat's name, and waited for a while. Apart from the echo of his own voice, there was no sound in the room.
Hua Shi frowned, his eyes fell on the open window beside him, he walked forward and looked out.
Behind the inn was a narrow alley. Because the houses behind it were built close together, only a long, narrow lane was left. The window was less than two meters from the ground, and the walls on both sides were lined with several similarly open window frames...
She looked carefully. The alley entrance was too narrow. Looking down from above, it would be difficult for pedestrians to pass through. However, if she couldn't find him anywhere, it was very likely that Xiao Hei had jumped from here...
"Ashi, didn't you find it?"
Xie Mingchi, who was waiting outside the inn, saw Hua Shi coming out without the black cat in his arms.
Hua Shi shook his head, "I didn't find it. I guess it might have jumped out of the window. I'll go to the back alley to check."
"I'll go with you."
Xie Mingchi followed her, one in front and one behind, and went around to the alley behind the inn.
The alley was deserted, and the sound of two people's dragging footsteps was clearly audible.
"Meow--"
A long kitten cry was heard.
Hua Shi's pupils shrank slightly, and he squeezed sideways into the alley, walking slowly towards the source of the sound.
That weak cat meow was not Xiao Hei's cry. It sounded like a young kitten that had not been weaned. After hearing the footsteps coming from outside the alley, it seemed to be frightened and meowed accidentally.
As she struggled to move sideways, there was no more sound from the place where the cat's meow came from.
Hua Shi approached cautiously, and what came into view was a litter of kittens wrapped in rags and hay. A quick glance revealed four or five palm-sized variegated kittens.
They huddled together, pressed against each other. Sensing the approach of shadows, some of them opened their eyes and looked up at her timidly.
"Meow…?!"
A familiar cat's meow suddenly came from the alley in front of her. Looking up, she saw a black cat standing on tiptoe, staring at her with wide eyes in surprise.
"Xiao Hei?" Hua Shi was also a little surprised.
The black cat seemed to accept the sudden appearance of the flower, and trotted over with light cat steps, "Meow..."
It skillfully ran to her legs and rubbed against them like a spoiled child.
"Where have you been?" Hua Shi squatted down with some difficulty and touched Xiao Hei's head. When he touched it, he felt a wet and sticky feeling from the hair under his hand.
She looked down and saw bright red blood...
Hua Shi subconsciously exerted a little force and pulled the black cat up from the ground. He came closer and examined it carefully, "Xiao Hei, are you hurt?"
"Meow……"
The black cat's two front paws were grabbed by Hua Shi, and its entire lower body was long and soft, as if it had no bones, and drooped down.
The black cat seemed a little confused, and its eyes were wide open from the beginning.
Hua Shi fumbled for a long time but did not find any wounds on the black cat. He handed the bloody palm to the black cat's basin and asked, "Where did this blood come from?"
"Meow meow meow."
The black cat struggled to jump off her hand, and with a light leap, it landed in front of a litter of kittens not far away on the ground. Under Hua Shi's gaze, it stretched out its paw and patted the kittens gently, "Meow meow meow...!"
She didn't know if it was Hua Shi's illusion, but she seemed to hear an angry tone in the black cat's two calls.
“Meow meow meow…!!”
The black cat tilted its head back and meowed continuously for several times, trying to express something to Hua Shi.
Hua Shi listened very attentively, but unfortunately, she didn't understand anything amidst the gesticulating and angry calls.
“Meow! Meow…”
"Alright, Xiao Hei." Hua Shi interrupted its strong desire to express itself and asked, "Where did these cats come from?"
"Meow!"
The black cat seemed a little unhappy when its conversation was interrupted, but it only snorted in response to Hua Shi's question.
"You said this is yours?"
"Meow!"
"I remember you were a tom?"
“Meow meow meow!!”
For some reason, the black cat became particularly angry when she mentioned the word tomcat.
She looked at Xiao Hei, then at the five kittens that were almost curled up together, merged into one.
"You don't want to tell me that you want to take all five kittens back?" Hua Shi asked.
"Meow!"
The black cat cried out loudly.
…
In a daze, Hua Shi picked up the litter of kittens and walked out of the alley.
Xie Mingchi, who had been peeking out from the alley, breathed a sigh of relief when he saw her come out.
He was tall and strong, and even if he tried hard to squeeze into the narrow alley, he could not get in. He could only stand outside and watch from a distance, not knowing what was happening inside.
When Xie Mingchi saw Qinghua holding a litter of unweaned kittens in her arms, he was stunned for a moment, "Where did these kittens come from?"
"Little Black's."
“Meow meow!!”
The black cat following behind Hua Shi meowed twice unhappily.
Hua Shi glanced down at it with a puzzled look on his face, "Didn't you just admit that you gave birth to the child?"
“Meow meow!!”
No way!
Xie Mingchi's gaze subconsciously fell on the black cat's buttocks, with a thoughtful look on his face.
...Isn't it a male cat? Can male cats give birth to kittens?
