"What did you say?"
Hua Shi turned around and saw Hua Xiao standing by the door frame. His big, shining eyes were looking at her, filled with rekindled hope.
She looked at the old man with his gray hair and bright eyes, and he didn't look like a liar. Naturally, she started to look forward to it again...
A glimmer of hope is good, better than nothing and just waiting...
"There's a doctor outside who says he can cure illnesses and save lives. Sister, please come out and take a look."
Hua Xiao said this, and without waiting for Hua Shi to ask any more questions, he trotted in, grabbed her sleeve with one hand, pulled her up eagerly, and walked out.
In the yard, Hua Li had just asked Wu Qiaozi to place the injured and unconscious man on a bamboo chair beside him when he heard hurried footsteps behind him.
Looking up, it was Hua Xiao who was impatiently dragging Hua Shi out of the house...
Hua Shi immediately locked onto the unfamiliar figure in the courtyard. He was wearing a navy blue robe with faded sleeves, and was wearing a pair of torn cloth shoes. The most noticeable thing about him was his messy white hair.
Although he had a head full of white hair, his face did not look old. He looked to be no more than forty years old. His pair of black eyes looked at her with piercing eyes.
Hua Shi noticed the bulging bag on his shoulder. Judging from his appearance, he did look a bit like a white-haired doctor.
While she was looking at Wu Qiaozi, Wu Qiaozi was also looking at her calmly. Seeing that her eyes gradually focused and came back to her senses, without waiting for Hua Shi to ask, Wu Qiaozi simply repeated what he had just said to Hua Li.
"As long as I take you two in for a few days, can you agree to any one of my requests?" Hua Shi repeated what he had just said.
Wu Qiaozi nodded confidently, with an indescribable pride in his eyes.
Traveling around the martial arts world, one must know that countless people in this world have begged him to treat their illnesses and seek medicine, but he rarely agrees...
Now that he has come here in dire straits, he has promised such a condition, but no one in the village responded and hastily rejected him. Now, he can only beg this little peasant girl to agree. It is really...
"Are you a doctor?" To be on the safe side, Hua Shi still wanted to hear his personal confirmation.
Wu Qiaozi nodded without hesitation.
"Okay, I don't have any other requests. My brother was seriously injured in the mountains a few days ago. He has been in a coma for several days. His wounds have worsened and he has a high fever. His condition is serious. Can you come to the house and check on him now?"
Hua Shi readily agreed and then stated his request.
Now I can only rely on this doctor who came out of nowhere. If he is still useless, then...
Hua Shi didn't think too deeply about it, but looked at the white-haired old man with sharp eyes.
Wu Qiaozi nodded in agreement without even thinking, his eyes falling on the unconscious man sitting limply on the bamboo chair.
Hua Shi followed his gaze and saw the face of another unfamiliar man. Her pupils shrank slightly as she noticed the festering and blurry wounds on both sides of his shoulders. They looked like they were torn open by something, and the wounds were bloody and very hideous.
"Brother, come and help carry the man into the innermost east room. That room is still empty."
Hua Shi shouted towards Hua Song.
Hearing Hua Shi calling his name, Hua Song lowered his head, walked quickly over, and worked together with Wu Qiaozi to carry the unconscious man into the east room.
This east room was where Li slept when she was still alive. The difference from before was that the east room had been cleaned up and looked brand new, with no trace of Li's previous stay.
In the east room, the two window lattices were wide open, facing the side path leading to the bamboo forest in the backyard, and the kang bed was covered with newly woven bamboo mats.
Because it was close to the bamboo forest in the backyard, one could faintly smell the fragrance of bamboo inside the house. Apart from the kang beds at both ends, there was nothing else in the house. It was empty. One could immediately notice the old and peeling wall coverings...
After struggling to get the man onto the kang bed, Wu Qiaozi first treated his wounds. Hua Shi assisted him by bringing him clean, warm water, basin after basin of blood water, from inside the house.
Hua Shi saw that he was very skilled and was cleaning the man's wound with ease. After a while, the bloody wound was exposed to the air. After cleaning it, he took out a small porcelain bottle from his bag and poured the white medicine powder inside on the wound. The wound that was scratched by the knife was still bleeding, but after sprinkling the medicine powder, after a while, it was visible to the naked eye that the wound miraculously stopped bleeding. The bleeding stopped just like that.
Hua Shi was watching from the side, his eyes going from hesitation at the beginning to burning after the wound was completely cleaned and bandaged.
Although she didn't know any medical skills, but seeing his skillful treatment method and the visible effect of the medicine, she could be 90% sure that the white-haired old man in front of her must be an experienced doctor with many years of practice.
And Hua Yu, who has been having a high fever and falling into a coma next door, is also going to be saved...
After Wu Qiaozi treated the man's wound, he turned around and saw Hua Shi standing not far behind him, staring at him with shining eyes.
After Hua Shi saw that he had taken care of everything, he asked anxiously, "Is it done?"
"Um."
Hearing his nod in response, Hua Shi walked forward, grabbed the open bundle on the edge of the kang, circled it and picked it up, freeing his other hand to grab the old man's wide sleeves, walked out the door, and rushed towards the next room where Hua Yu was.
