Chapter 236 Settled

"What's wrong?"

Hua Shi came back to his senses and asked again.

"Didn't you say yesterday that Second Brother's leg injury had healed a lot and that we were going to start repairing the yard starting today? I just wanted to ask you, when do we start?"

Hua Xiao looked at her with bright eyes and a face full of anticipation.

She had seen the planning drawing that Hua Shi had drawn before... The lifelike house was more beautiful than the best house in the village. She had never seen a house with such a structure before, and she fell in love with it at first sight.

She had been thinking about him for a long time. Seeing that her second brother's legs were getting better little by little, and he no longer needed crutches and could walk on his own, she began to worry about him...

Hua Shi pondered for a moment and replied, "Let's do it today."

Regarding building the house, she has been preparing a lot of things over the past two months and is just waiting to start construction.

She had drawn the structural diagram of the house in advance and had already decided on most of the materials for building the house, all of which would be made of bamboo, so most of the bamboo in the small bamboo forest in the backyard had been cut down.

The bamboo in the backyard alone was not enough, so she brought Huasong, Huazhu, Huayu and a few other boys with her, and went around to another bamboo forest not far from the back mountain, and cut down a lot more bamboo.

In addition, a lot of wood needed to be chopped, and it took a lot of time just to prepare these things.

She had originally planned to ask carpenters and craftsmen from the village to help build the house. However, before she went to ask anyone, Hua Song volunteered, saying that he knew a little about building houses.

After hearing Huashi say that the house should be built mainly with bamboo, and looking at the structural diagram of the house she drew, he took on this important task with some excitement.

After a few conversations, Hua Shi saw that he really seemed to be an expert, so she let him do what he wanted...

On the day the yard was demolished and relocated, there was inevitably a lot of noise. Although the neighbors lived far away, it was impossible for them not to know about such a loud noise.

The courtyard wall had just been knocked down. The neighbors who heard the noise ran out to check, stretched their heads out, and looked straight in this direction.

From a distance, one could see the Hua family's yard. Under the scorching sun, dust was flying everywhere. Several unfamiliar men, carrying hoes, were working hard to push down the wall bit by bit.

Aunt Hua from next door didn't know what was going on. When she saw two or three unfamiliar faces, she thought they were the refugees from outside the village who had fled and were causing trouble in this remote area. She rushed over in a hurry with her people.

"Hey, hey! What are you guys doing?!" Aunt Hua came running over anxiously, pointing at Hua Song and Mo Feng who were working, and shouted in a domineering tone.

Hearing the sound of people shouting behind them, Hua Song and Mo Feng turned their heads with a strange and confused look on their faces.

"You! Yes! You guys, what are you doing there?! Put down your hoes! Where did you come from? Why are you tearing down other people's walls and yards?"

Aunt Hua pointed at the two of them and shouted angrily, her angry expression clearly visible on her face.

Hua Shi, who was in the house, heard the noise coming from outside and guessed that it must be the villagers who had heard the news and came running. She quickly put down the things in her hands and trotted out.

As soon as she came out, Aunt Hua spotted her with her sharp eyes. She waved in her direction without hesitation and called out to her, "Hey?! Hua Shi! Here!"

At this time, there were nearly ten people gathered outside the yard. They all heard the noise and came over curiously to watch the fun.

However, when the villagers saw the two or three unfamiliar faces appearing in the Hua family courtyard, most of them showed dissatisfaction and vigilance on their faces.

"Second Aunt? What's wrong? Why are you all here?" Hua Shi had made preparations early in the morning, and now seeing a group of people surrounding him, he had an idea in his mind.

Without waiting for her to come over, Second Aunt Hua quickly stepped forward, grabbed her hand, pointed at Hua Song and Mo Feng behind her, and asked with a frown, "Who are those two? Do you know them?"

Seeing Hua Shi's calm expression, Aunt Hua, who was originally full of anger, changed her mind and wondered if Hua Shi had known these two people for a long time.

The two men, each taller and stronger than the other, had their heads lowered, so their looks couldn't be seen clearly. But judging from their appearance, they were probably young men in their twenties.

Hua Shi unpacked the story he had prepared that morning, "They were my mother's distant relatives, my aunt's three children. A fire burned their house down, and my aunt and her uncle were burned to death in their sleep. They were left with three children, and with nowhere else to go, they came here to seek refuge."

When Aunt Hua heard this, her expression suddenly changed and she looked at Hua Song, Mo Feng and the others with pity in her eyes.

"Huh? What's going on? Where is your cousin from? Is there no one else at home?"

Hua Shi lowered his head sadly and shook his head slowly and heavily, "Gone. Originally there were seven children in the family, but now there are only three left. My eldest cousin's face was also burned... Alas."

Having said this, Hua Shiliu Blank sighed deeply, as if thinking of something sad. She refused to continue, letting Second Aunt Hua imagine a life and death drama in her mind, and her eyes became more and more compassionate.

Hua Shi didn't wait for her to say those soothing words and continued, "I know that the village doesn't tolerate outsiders, and my eldest cousin and his family have nowhere to go. So I asked them to change their surnames to Hua from now on, and include their names in the clan tree. They will be treated as real brothers and sisters, and won't be considered outsiders anymore, right...?"

Upon hearing this, Second Aunt Hua quickly nodded in agreement and said comfortingly, "Of course not. We all have the same surname, so we'll be a family from now on. Poor child, I think he's only about twenty years old. Is he married yet?"
