"Squeak—"
Hua Shi was coming down the winding mountain path, passing by a patch of thorny grass at the foot of the mountain, when he suddenly heard a muffled sound.
Immediately afterwards, the sound of a heavy object rolling from the side caught Hua Shi's attention.
"Bang……"
"ah……"
Following a few muffled sounds and a scream, Hua Shi hurried towards the direction where the sound came from.
This sound was like someone falling down the slope and rolling down...
“Ouch…! Someone come… Is there anyone…”
Sure enough, after a while, a hoarse cry for help came from the bushes.
Hua Shi hurriedly pushed aside the dense grass and saw an old woman lying on the grass, holding her head and groaning, unable to get up.
The old woman looked up when she heard the sound of someone coming. After seeing the girl in front of her clearly, her old and cloudy eyes widened a little, and her screams of pain stopped abruptly.
Hua Shi didn't notice the subtle change in her expression. He hurried forward, asked a question, and quickly helped her sit up from the grass.
After everyone was seated firmly, Hua Shi raised his eyes and met the old woman's gaze.
I realized later that the old woman's eyes seemed a little strange, and I couldn't explain the feeling...
The old woman restrained her expression and said in an inexplicably loving tone, "Thank you, little girl. What's your name?"
"My name is Hua Shi." Hua Shi replied, and his tense emotions relaxed a little.
Fortunately, there was no vital injury. It seemed that the head was hit and there was a red and swollen spot on the forehead.
The old woman was about fifty or sixty years old. Her clothes were neat and clean. Her black hair had a mixture of white hair, which was combed into a bun and neatly tucked behind her head. The hand that reached out to pat the back of her hand had cleanly trimmed nails without any black mud.
From her clothes to her words and expressions, it can be seen that the old woman in front of you is a neat and tidy person.
The old woman suddenly laughed out loud, squinting her wrinkled eyes, and her eyes became more and more loving as she looked at the flowers.
The hoarse voice seemed to be made of sand, gurgling in my ears, "So it's Lianxin's darling granddaughter. I haven't seen you for so many years, and you've grown so big."
Lotus heart?
Hua Shi became suspicious and looked at the old woman who was about the same age as Li. He quickly realized that the Lianxin she was talking about was Li.
Neighbors and strangers alike only called her Mrs. Li, Mrs. Li, or Aunt Li. However, few people would call her by her real name, Li Lianxin.
The old woman seemed to see the puzzled expression on her face, smiled again, and explained patiently and kindly,
"You may not remember me, but when you were little, I held you in my arms. Haha... I'm your grandmother's best friend, a close friend."
Having said this, the old woman paused, her eyes seemed a little vague. When she looked at the flowers, her gaze drifted away, as if she was looking at something through her.
Hua Shi felt a chill down her spine when she was looked at by her. She thought she was looking at something behind her, so she turned around and looked behind her.
There was nothing but a vast expanse of dense forest.
The old woman was drawn back to her senses by her turning her head, and her smile deepened. "Just call me Grandma Xie, there's no need to be so distant. Thank you so much this time. If you hadn't found me in time, I, an old woman, would have died in this deep forest without anyone knowing..."
Xie kept talking and patting the back of her hand lovingly.
Hua Shi couldn't stand her sudden kiss, so he forced a smile and helped the person up from the ground.
"Are you injured anywhere else?" Hua Shi looked at her swollen forehead and carefully helped her stand up.
"Ouch... I think I twisted my foot." Xie cried out in pain, and her entire weight fell directly on Hua Shi. She bent down, covering her foot, and screamed repeatedly.
Hua Shi was almost knocked to the ground by her.
Although the old woman looked thin, she was surprisingly strong. The hand that was holding her shoulder felt as heavy as a stone.
Hua Shi was pressed down by her and had to use all his strength to support himself, his face flushed red. "What should we do? I think we are not far from the foot of the mountain. How about I carry you down the mountain?"
Upon hearing this, Mrs. Xie immediately nodded in agreement and said with a smile, "That's great. Thank you, Hua girl. I'm old and weak, and I'm sorry for the bumps and bruises I've suffered so much..."
Hua Shi helped the man steady himself and bent down. Xie didn't hesitate and jumped on him, causing Hua Shi to stagger and almost fall down.
"Haha... I'm sorry, Hua girl. I often do farm work, and I have too much strength in my body. I can't control it." Xie said while lying on her back.
Hua Shi smiled and said it was okay.
"Meow? Meow?"
The black cat that had been following Hua Shi saw Hua Shi carrying a stranger on his back, and circled around Hua Shi's legs several times.
It was only when Mrs. Xie heard the cat's meow that she noticed the black cat at Hua Shi's feet. She lowered her head and looked at it curiously for several times. She tilted her head and carefully examined Hua Shi's profile, muttering to herself,
"It looks so good... It really looks like... It's that big..."
Xie muttered a few words in Hua Shi's ear. As she walked, she had to pay attention to the black cat under her feet, for fear that she would step on it without paying attention.
After walking for a while, I was exhausted and out of breath...
The original owner had never exercised much, didn't have to do farm work, was lazy and gluttonous, and had a delicate constitution. Furthermore, after she arrived, she wasn't a sports person either, so naturally her physical fitness wasn't much better.
She was a little surprised that she could grit her teeth and carry the person on her back.
Although Xie looks thin, she is actually an adult, and it is not easy at all to carry her on her back.
