Chapter 36 Why bother pretending

Hua Shi rubbed his hands and withdrew them. He was not surprised at Hua Yu's rejection.

Hua Yu supported himself on the wet and sticky ground with his hands and slowly got up from the ground.

He had just been kicked to the ground by Li, and his clothes, which had been washed white and patched, were half wet.

Hua Shi noticed that when the sleeve of his arm had just blocked the swing of Li's wooden stick, the fragile fabric was torn in a large piece during the pulling, revealing the skin inside that was beaten blue and purple.

Hua Yu just glanced at her coldly. His eyes were like those of a hungry wolf, obscure, fierce, and sinister...

When the flowers bloom, just pretend not to see them.

Hua Yu must be hating her to death now. She had implicated him and beaten him for no reason.

Hua Shi thought about this, feeling a little guilty and remorseful, and whispered, "I'm sorry, Hua Yu, I'm the one who implicated you this time..."

Before she could finish her words, Hua Yu turned his gaze back and stared at her straight, his eyes full of mockery.

He opened his mouth but didn't speak for a long time. His voice was hoarse, like sandpaper grinding against a table, cryptic and mocking. "Sorry...? Isn't this what you wanted to see?"

Why bother pretending? It's not tiring.

Hua Shi couldn't find the words to refute.

After all, the relationship between the brother and sister is like fire and water. In Hua Yu's eyes, they are opposites and absolutely incompatible. She wants to bite her to death...

In this situation, whatever she said would only add fuel to the fire in Hua Yu's eyes and deepen the conflict.

But this time, she was sure that she had implicated him, and Li was like a madman. After that, she was a little afraid. No matter what she did, as long as it made Li a little unhappy, she was afraid that Li would vent his anger on Hua Yu or his other three brothers and sisters.

Spending time thinking about it gives me a headache.

Hua Yu sneered coldly and ignored Hua Shi. He squatted down and continued to wash the dirty clothes in the wooden basin.

Because of Li's anger, the whole yard was filled with strange silence and the air seemed a little lifeless.

Hua Shi stood there, exhaled, touched his sleeves, took out a handkerchief from inside, and wiped the sweat on his forehead that had just appeared because of the argument.

After wiping it twice, Li, who was sitting on a stool under the eaves and staring at Hua Shi, suddenly changed her expression when she saw the pink and white handkerchief.

"Where did you get that handkerchief? Hanashi!"

Li's words were almost shouted at Hua Shi.

Hua Shi was lost in thought when she was suddenly frightened by the loud roar and almost dropped the silk in her hand.

Turning his head to look at Li, Hua Shi was shocked by her bloodshot and red eyes staring at him fiercely. His heart trembled and he was almost scared to death.

"Have you ever held this handkerchief before? How did it end up in your hand?"

Li rushed straight towards Hua Shi, snatched the handkerchief from her hand, and lowered her head to carefully examine the pattern embroidered on the handkerchief.

It was the one she embroidered, and it even had her name embroidered on it. How could I possibly have made a mistake...

Li's expression became even more sinister, and his expression was terrifying as he questioned in a cold voice.

Hua Shi didn't understand what Li's expression meant. His eyes fell on the handkerchief and he subconsciously said, "Grandma Xie gave it to me..."

Before she could finish her words, Mrs. Li suddenly grabbed her arms and stared at her intently, "What Grandma Xie? Who is your Grandma Xie?"

After hearing her words, Mrs. Li became furious and pulled the handkerchief hard.

The fabric of the handkerchief was soft to begin with, and after Li tore it hard, it became deformed and torn into several pieces in a short while.

Hua Shi was stunned for a moment, and looking at Li's crazy behavior, he subconsciously took several steps back.

What's going on...

She was also afraid that after Li tore the handkerchief, she would come over and tear hers...

Although she didn't react to what happened.

Li tore the handkerchief into pieces, and finally felt relieved. She raised her eyes, her gaze fell on Hua Shi, and threw the torn handkerchief at Hua Shi, questioning him angrily and aggressively.

"Did you meet the guy named Xie today?"

Hua Shi nodded.

She clearly remembered that Xie said she and Li were good sisters. Why did Li explode like a flaming barrel when she mentioned Xie?

Li showed a look of disgust on her face and reached out to pull the flowers.

Hua Shi was a little afraid of her and quickly dodged away.

Li was obviously in a very unstable mood, and who knew if she would take it out on her.

Li was so angry that her face almost twisted because she failed to pull the person over. She was also eager to know how Hua Shi met and knew Xie, so she had to suppress her rage.

"Tell me everything that happened today! How did you run into that Xie Du? Did she talk to you on purpose? What else did she say to you?"

Li was obviously very anxious and asked questions one after another.

Hua Shi didn't know what the rush was all about. Frowning slightly, he told the truth, "When I was coming down the mountain, I happened to run into the grandmother of the Xie family. She accidentally fell down the hillside, sprained her ankle, and hit her head. Seeing that there was no one around, I carried her to the foot of the mountain... She saw that I was sweating profusely, so she gave me a handkerchief to wipe my sweat..."

Hua Shi did not hide it, and she didn't think there was anything wrong with it.

Just looking at Li's repulsive and angry expression, it was obvious that the relationship between Li and Xie was not as close as Xie claimed...

Mrs. Li was still staring at her, asking word by word, "Did she tell you anything? Did she say anything bad about me?"
