Chapter 99 Feeling like it's over

After all the things were put in, and the four of them had not yet come out of the house, Li's cursing voice suddenly came from outside the main hall.

"Where are the people?! You've all gone into hiding again since you came back, right? You're willing to come back? Why don't you just die outside? Where have you been all day?"

Hearing the fierce curse, several people looked at each other and hurriedly retreated from Hua Shi's house.

Li was standing with one hand on her waist, staring fiercely at the people who walked out of the room one by one. Her face looked very ugly.

Hua Shi came out last, and did not forget to turn around and close his door.

Li saw that Hua Yu and the other two all came out of Hua Shi's room, and ran back in as soon as they came back. She was very perceptive and soon realized that something was wrong.

Those cloudy eyes narrowed and stared at the four people sharply, "Where have you been? Did you bring something back? You hid it in the house and thought I didn't know?!"

Li asked in a stern voice as she ran straight towards Hua Shi.

It looked like he was going to break into the room and check for himself what was hidden inside.

Hua Shi blocked Li's steps and before Li could get angry, she suddenly said, "Grandma, I'm hungry. Is there anything to eat today? I want to eat too."

Li crossed her arms, her expression changed, and she glared at her coldly, but her harsh tone remained unchanged. "Who do you think you are? You still want to eat my food? You have no conscience, you only know how to eat!"

Li looked at her sideways.

That face that she had always admired the most, perhaps because she hadn't had much to eat in the past month or two, and was so hungry that it looked a little out of shape.

It's winter now. Without her care, Hua Shi doesn't have any thick clothes to wear, and there probably isn't any thick quilt in the house. He's cold and hungry, and his face looks completely different.

It's not as pleasing to the eye as before, and it looks less and less like the previous one. Now it looks like a horrible thing, and there is no resemblance at all.

It's so unlucky. She has raised her for more than ten years, but it's of no use at all. If she had known that a girl is useless and will get married sooner or later, she shouldn't have been so open-hearted to her. It's all in vain.

However, I can still get five taels of silver from her, which is still somewhat useful...

Li's thoughts wandered, and a hint of sarcasm appeared in her cloudy grey eyes. "You're still dreaming. What are you eating? You're so stuffed you'll die."

After being scolded by Li, Hua Shi was not angry, but his expression was lost for a moment, and he said in a low voice,

"Oh... I'm so hungry. There's nothing to eat. I can only go and see if there are any mice or snakes in the corner, catch some and stew them. Otherwise, I'll starve to death... Oh, by the way, grandma, do you want to see what we brought back? We just caught several mice. They are fat and big. Do you want to eat them..."

Hua Shi said this, reaching out to grab Li's arm and was about to take her into the house.

Li frowned suddenly, shook off the hand that was wrapped around her by Hua Shi, and said with disgust, "What a rubbish! Let go of me. This is really bad luck."

Li broke free from Hua Shi's hand while cursing, and after realizing that there were some junk hidden inside, she no longer had the desire to check and went straight to the right side room, which was Hua's father's house.

After sending Li away, Hua Shi clapped his hands and breathed a sigh of relief.

Fortunately, I knew Li's personality, so I could just make up a few random words and keep a natural expression to fool her.

I guess in her mind, without her support, the Huashi guys would at best catch some rats and snakes to eat, or at worst just dig up wild vegetables to eat. For so many years, she hadn't given them much to eat, but as long as she didn't see them starve to death, she felt a little relieved...

She was also afraid that Hua Shi would come to her to beg for food. She hadn't given them anything to eat for almost a month. They must be starving as wolves, so she didn't bother to pay attention to them and thought out of sight, out of mind.

"If you're hungry, come ask me for food. I'll go into the house first."

Hua Shi said something to the three people beside him and went straight back to the house.

Her clothes were soaked by the snow and felt cold against her body. She had been running for almost a whole day and was tired and uncomfortable. She wanted to just fall into bed and sleep.

The night fell silently, the endless darkness mixed with the biting cold wind and the snow, which scattered all over the ground...

In the dead of night, the tormenting snowy night passed silently again...

The snow outside the window was falling heavier and heavier, and I could even hear the crisp sound of it hitting the window sill and the roof.

Hua Shi woke up from his sleep with a start, shivering from the cold. He turned over and sat up, feeling a little sore all over.

“Hiss…”

pain……

My hands and feet felt numb and sore. I don’t know if it was because I caught a cold yesterday, but I also felt a little heavy. Fortunately, after washing my face, I felt much more awake.

I checked the temperature of my forehead and it was normal, no fever. Otherwise, if I really got sick, I'd be doomed...

It seemed to be snowing heavily outside the window, and a rustling sound could be faintly heard.

“Wuwuwu…”

Through the thin wall, I could faintly hear the crying of a child from the next door...
