As Hua Shi expected, as soon as she went out and came back, Hua Yu began to feel hot all over, fell into a deep coma, and had a high fever.
The temperature under her hand was too hot. Hua Shi's fingers, when touching it, felt like they were electrocuted and she retracted her hand.
He closed the doors and windows tightly to prevent the cold wind from blowing in, and then took out the thick quilt he used to cover himself in winter and covered Hua Yu with it. He then wet a cold towel and began to cool Hua Yu down physically.
In just a few moments, his forehead began to feel intensely hot. Besides physical cooling, there was no other fever-reducing medicine. Whether he could make it through it really depended on Hua Yu himself...
"...Second sister, the guy next door is awake."
Hua Zhu's somewhat timid voice came from the direction of the door.
Perhaps it was because there were too many unexpected situations after entering the Hua family courtyard. Song and Zhu, who had originally come from an unfamiliar environment to another, had been standing by and observing cautiously.
Hua Shi asked her to look after another injured man, but everyone in the room was so focused on this that they didn't pay attention to the other man. Only when the man woke up did Hua Zhu run over to tell Hua Shi.
Hua Shi was stunned for a moment, then turned to look at Hua Yu, who was in a deep coma, with a frown and a painful expression. How come the other person who was brought back with the same injuries woke up so quickly?
"Okay, I got it. I'll be there in a minute."
Hua Shi responded, lowered his head, re-wet the sweaty towel, folded it, and covered Hua Yu's burning forehead with it.
When she came out of the house, Hua Xiao and Hua Li were waiting in the main room, their eyes red, listless and dull. They looked over here with empty eyes, and no one knew what they were thinking about.
"Sister..."
Hua Xiao leaned forward anxiously and asked in a hoarse voice, "Is Second Brother feeling better?"
"You guys go in and keep watch," Hua Shi didn't respond directly. He sighed and then reminded her, "When the towel covering his forehead gets warm, wet it with water, wring it out, and put it back on."
Hua Xiao and Hua Li nodded unconsciously before entering the house.
Huaying, who was squatting by the threshold of the main hall, heard Huashi's footsteps and turned around. She opened her round eyes and looked over, "Sister... I'm hungry."
Huaying's childish voice came from the side. Hua Shi stopped walking to the opposite side and turned to look in the direction of the sound.
"I'm hungry." Huaying covered her stomach, stood up, and looked at her eagerly with a confused look.
Hua Shi glanced at the sky and realized that he had returned home before dawn. He then ran into the mountains and searched for the injured Hua Yu for most of the night. Before he knew it, it was already past noon...
She turned her head to look at Hua Zhu who was standing beside her and said, "Wait a minute, I'll go to the kitchen to see if there's anything to eat."
She was so busy that no one had eaten and was hungry. If Huaying hadn't called her, she probably wouldn't have remembered it until who knows when.
"Come, follow me, I'll take you to get something to eat."
Hua Shi took Hua Ying's little hand and walked outside, passed under the eaves that were piled with things, and came to the messy little kitchen.
There was still a fire in the stove, having just boiled water, and the firewood was still burning. Hua Shi used the stove to wash the food twice and cooked a large pot of white porridge. She took some pickled bacon, cut it into slices, and steamed it in the pot as a side dish, which she drank with the white porridge.
It’s hard to do anything else right now, so let’s just eat some porridge to fill our stomach first.
Cooking the porridge was quick and easy. Huaying was so hungry that she couldn't wait to dig into the bowl of hot porridge.
"Xiaoying, go slowly. Don't drink it yet. It's still hot."
Hua Shi stopped him, took the wooden bowl from his hand with one hand, and walked towards the wooden table outside the yard with a stack of slowly steamed bacon in the other.
The little guy looked up at her and followed her happily.
"Sit down and eat slowly. Wait until it cools down before drinking. Don't drink it in a hurry. Be careful of the heat."
Hua Shi was really afraid that if he didn't pay attention, Hua Ying would become too hungry again, so he swallowed it down without saying a word.
The porridge just out of the pot is still boiling hot. If you swallow it like this, you will get burned even if you spit it out in time.
“Hmm…”
Huaying brought a stool and listened to Huashi's repeated instructions, nodding repeatedly like a chick pecking at rice.
Hua Shi turned around and walked towards the main room again. She hadn't eaten since yesterday afternoon, so she didn't feel hungry at all and had no appetite.
Thinking that the strange man in the room had woken up and that Songzhu and the other two were guarding inside, Hua Shi quickened his pace and walked over.
In the simple house, the windows were closed and the door was only a crack open, and the light inside was a little dim.
Hua Shi pushed the door open, and the sound made Hua Song and Hua Zhu, who were guarding the door, turn their heads and look over.
"The kitchen has cooked porridge. You two can go out and eat first. You don't need to guard here anymore."
After the two of them left, Hua Shi's attention refocused on the man leaning on the kang.
While she was looking at the other person, the man was also looking at her with a looking eye, but the latter seemed to be looking at her with a confused look.
"How are you feeling?"
Hua Shi saw him staring at her in a daze, so she walked up to him and asked.
The man looked at her and then moved his gaze downwards. His wandering eyes dodged for a moment before he spoke slowly, "...Headache."
Hua Shi saw the cloth wrapped around his forehead and the blood oozing out, and guessed that he had hit his head like Hua Yu, but the situation was not as serious as Hua Yu's.
