Chapter 23: The Wife Cannot Get into Accident
Sheng Ran woke up after only lying down for a few hours.
As long as she has something on her mind, she cannot sleep well, tossing and turning all night, and opening her eyes automatically before dawn.
She made a bowl of beef and egg custard and boiled some corn to keep warm in the kitchen. Then she casually put on a coat and walked towards the cliff.
I still couldn't find the elusive raven, but I met a warm little sparrow on the way.
Perhaps understanding her intention, the bird flapped its wings and led her in a direction.
When it flies, it is light, flexible and cheerful, and it moves freely in the morning mist.
Birds are born to yearn for the sky.
Sheng Ran couldn't help but think of Raven. He must have been very frustrated and in pain after his wings were broken.

When he found the raven, he was resting against a tree trunk.

As Sheng Ran approached, the raven was awakened by the noise.

Sheng Ran even threw the whip she had been using for so long off the cliff.
Raven was caught off guard by her action and had no idea how to face Sheng Ran.
He approached hesitantly, wanting to use his most despised skill to listen to Sheng Ran's inner thoughts within a five-meter range where it would be effective.
Very quiet, not a single unnecessary word.
Didn't she think of anything at this moment? She didn't even scold him.
Raven was incredulous.
Sheng Ran quietly took his hand, without any force, and pulled him away gently.
You came here so early, are you here just to take him home?
Raven had never been treated like this by her before.
Sheng Ran originally wanted to use the old method again and hurt herself to force him to appear.

After returning home, Ling Rui also got up.

He and Sheng Ran served the breakfast that Wen had prepared in the kitchen.

Sheng Ran looked at him with a smile and patted the stone bench beside her.

Later, when he could no longer fly, his daily consumption became much smaller and he became more casual about his food.
He did not expect to eat the delicious food cooked by Sheng Ran like the other beastly husbands.
"Don't just stand there, let's eat together." Ling Rui took the bowl and ate heartily. "My wife's cooking is very good. Eat more to replenish your energy. We will go out hunting together soon."
Ling Rui saw that Sheng Ran had completely accepted Raven, so he retracted his aggressive attitude from yesterday.
Raven's situation was indeed different from his, and he couldn't empathize with him.

Facing Sheng Ran's expectant gaze, Raven picked up the bowl stiffly.
With a gentle touch of the porcelain spoon, the egg custard shook and light brown juice immediately seeped out from the edge. It was the ingredient that Sheng Ran picked personally, and it smelled both fragrant and fresh.
The raven put it into his mouth, and the first bite was smooth, like a sip of warm and cool clouds. The egg custard melted on the tip of his tongue without much effort, leaving a clean sweet taste in his mouth.
Then, the ground beef particles came out, not dry, with a bit of chewiness, and the aroma of meat wrapped in the salty and fresh juice came up all at once, entangled with the sweetness of the eggs, creating a gentle and solid fragrance.
It was the first time he had eaten such delicious food. His stomach felt warm, as if it was wrapped in something soft. He felt so comfortable that he wanted to sigh.
Raven finished eating with his head down, confused emotions swirling in his eyes.
Is this really the evil woman from before?
After breakfast, Ling Rui diligently cleaned up the dishes and sent them to the kitchen for washing.
Raven followed silently and joined in.
He had never lived or eaten at home before, so naturally he would not do this kind of work.
Perhaps one day he would really be able to live at home on an equal footing with the other beastly husbands, and of course he would do these things.
Alone with Ling Rui, Raven couldn't help but ask, "Are you sure there's not even a trace of disguise in what she did?"
"You can hear it, can't you? We know exactly what the wife is thinking. Can you find out what the hidden conspiracy is?"

"Do you think your current wife is too good to be true?" Ling Rui interrupted. "I thought so at first, too. But then I figured it out."
"My wife was found alive in the river, but she became blind and mute. It's normal for people to change after experiencing a major tragedy. If you feel uneasy about her kindness, repay her double and fulfill your duties as a beastly husband."
"My wife needs care right now, especially outside, where she can be easily bullied."
Ling Rui never expected that there would be a day when he would speak up for Sheng Ran.
Recently, he kept thinking back to that day in the tribe center when Sheng Ran was yelled at in front of others but couldn't say anything back. It was quite frustrating.
Now, he couldn't stand Sheng Ran being wronged.
Make a silent decision to protect her, at least within the marriage contract.
After packing up briefly, the two of them set out to hunt.
Sheng Ran was originally going to go with them. She had some ingredients she wanted to find, but Pei Xiaoxing and Ling Rui didn't know how to find them, so they had no choice but to let her go.
But today she said she had something to do at home.
"That's fine. The mountains are still too dangerous. My dear wife, you can just rest at home. Raven and I will try to catch as much prey as possible."
Ling Rui was frightened when he thought of the last assassination attempt.
As he left the house, Raven saw Sheng Ran waving to him with a bright smile.
Her lips opened and closed, as if she was saying something, but he couldn't understand her lip language.
After the two beastly husbands left, the system asked Sheng Ran again: [Host, have you really made up your mind?]
"I can live even though I'm missing a bone, but he can't fly even though he's missing one. Of course I've thought about it!"
This death contract must be broken eventually, Sheng Ran doesn't want to worry about it anymore.
She sat on the bed, urging the system to act quickly.
In the forest on the other side, Raven suddenly felt a sharp pain running through his body.
It felt like a blunt knife was cutting into the bone gap, and then was pulled outward by a brute force, pulling the tendons in the bone gap along with it.
Seeing this, Ling Rui exclaimed: "What's wrong?"
"My wife is in danger—" Raven came to this conclusion through gritted teeth.
Logically speaking, he should have been teleported to Sheng Ran's side by now.
However, the next second, the severe pain disappeared, as if some kind of restraint was finally released, and my whole body felt light.
He stared at his body absentmindedly, and only realized something was wrong after a while.
The bone he broke came back?
The raven tried to spread its wings.
He can fly.
What rushed to his mind was not joy, but cold sweat broke out layer by layer. Raven already had a guess in his mind.
"Go back immediately!" He left these words, arched his back and spread his wings.
With a slight sound of shoulder blades, the wings over ten feet wide suddenly opened, the black wings like steel blades flapped, bringing up the sound of wind, and the feathers caught the air flow like a huge sail, flying straight into the air.
Even though the death contract had been broken, he was more worried than ever that something might happen to Sheng Ran.
