Chapter 14: Preparing Food

Tian Cai took a quick look and asked, "Was it red before, with small rashes, and then it turned into small blisters? Did you scratch it because it was itchy?"

"Yes, yes, yes!" Luo Xiuyan was delighted. "Do you know what it is? Can it be cured?"

Of course Tian Cai knew what it was, "Eczema."

"Then why do I have this thing? You have no idea how embarrassing it is to have it here. It itches but I can't scratch it. I can only scratch it when I'm alone at night. It's so itchy that it kills me."

Luo Xiuyan felt tired when she thought about the torture she had suffered in the past two years because of this thing. She had thought about going to the county health center, but when she went there with her mother before, the doctor in the health center was a male. She heard that he had a strange look in his eyes because of his condition, which scared her so much that she refused to see him no matter what.

"It's hard to say why this thing grows, because there are so many reasons for it to form. For example, you might come into contact with something you're allergic to, like pollen or insects. You might also get bacteria from something. It could also be from being overheated, or you might be too tired physically or mentally. There are so many possible causes."

Tian Cai briefly introduced to her the cause of eczema, which was also recorded in Cai Ping's medical book. However, in her previous life, she had seen many patients with eczema seeking medical treatment in her grandfather's clinic, and the eczema appeared in all kinds of strange places.

"Ah, can it be cured?" After listening to what Tian Cai said, Luo Xiuyan felt that she could be either of them.

"Of course it can be cured. Just apply some ointment for a few days and it will be fine. I have a prepared one and I'll give it to you later."

"Thank you so much, Tian Cai!" Luo Xiuyan didn't expect that the disease that had troubled her for two years would be so easy to deal with in Tian Cai's mouth. In the past two years, she didn't dare to get married because of this disease. She didn't know how much pressure she had endured from the outside world.

"What's there to thank me for? Any doctor can tell the difference." Tian Caizhen didn't think this was a big deal. It wasn't difficult at all.

Luo Xiuyan recalled how her second sister-in-law and eldest sister-in-law had whispered to each other, saying that she was a little girl and growing up in such a place might cause her to get some kind of disease. They also told her niece to stay away from her aunt to avoid getting infected. At that time, she felt aggrieved, but she didn't dare to follow her because she was afraid her mother would go to her brother and sister-in-law's house and beat them up.

Luo Xiuyan took Tian Cai to return the borrowed bowls and basins and familiarize herself with the place. She also took her to Carpenter Chen's house to buy beams. Uncle Luo was right. Carpenter Chen did have ready-made beams at home. They just needed to be transported there and reinstalled before they could be used. However, the beams would have to wait until tomorrow.

The original custom in the village was to have a banquet on the day of raising the beam, but now that the world is not doing well, no one does that anymore.

After a short rest after dinner, the villagers who came to help went back to work and made an appointment with Tian Cai to come back to help in the evening.

Seeing that the jobs left were all technical and he couldn't do them, Tian Cai simply took his dagger and went up the mountain.

Just now she was sitting there and doing some calculations. She would definitely need their help to put up the beams and repair the roof tomorrow. So she might as well arrange dinner first. She had to keep the money for buying other furniture. She should also give them some gifts in return after the work was done. It would not look good to have only vegetarian dishes on the table.

This made Tian Cai, who had always been unwilling to take advantage of others, feel very uncomfortable, so he decided to go up the mountain to hunt some prey. Even if he couldn't sell it for money, at least he could have something to eat.

Tian Cai traveled lightly and ran all the way towards the hill where she and Cai Ping had encountered the wild boar before. She knew there was a wild boar den in this area.

I have heard from the older generation before that wild boars only come out to look for food at night. They don’t like to move around during the day and usually sleep in their dens. Wild boars like to build their dens in caves where few people go.

Tian Cai climbed over several hills and searched for a while following the footprints and feces on the ground. Finally, he found the wild boar in a cave hidden in the side of a stone wall.

The sturdy body is estimated to weigh about 200 pounds, with short and thick limbs and exposed fangs, all indicating that this is a big guy with strong fighting ability.

Tian Cai searched around but found no trace of other wild boars. He lay at the entrance of the cave and observed for a while. After making sure that there were no other wild boars in the cave, he began to imitate the pig's calls. The alternating inhalation and exhalation produced a sound similar to the snoring of a wild boar. Sure enough, the pig was attracted out after a few calls.

When the wild boar came closer and was within Tian Cai's attack range, she suddenly jumped up and stabbed the boar's head with a knife. The handle of the dagger was embedded in it because she used too much force.

After a successful attack, the wild boar jumped away quickly as it swung towards him. The wild boar let out a painful howl. Tian Cai was afraid that the howl would attract other wild boars, so he rushed forward and stabbed the knife he had taken from Scarface between the wild boar's eyes.

The howling stopped abruptly, and the wild boar fell to the ground, kicked its legs, and then became completely motionless.

Only then did she feel a chill on her back. She raised her sleeve to wipe her face, stepped forward to pull out the dagger and wiped it clean with a leaf. Then, with a force of both hands, she easily carried the wild boar weighing more than 200 pounds on her back and hurriedly ran in the direction she came from.

When she came, she had already decided to find a way to kill the wild boar. Tian Cai simply carried the wild boar up a relatively high steep slope, looked in the right direction and threw it down.

The wild boar rolled all the way down the hillside, hitting the protruding rocks several times. Tian Cai looked at the crisscrossing wounds on the wild boar's body and fell again. In the end, the poor wild boar was carried back by Tian Cai with wounds all over its body.

When she was two hills away from the village, she put the wild boar on the ground and dragged it to create some traces. She then climbed over another hill and put it in a hidden place before running back to the village to call for help.

Tian Cai, breathless and still in shock, ran to the brigade headquarters and called out, "Captain, I've got a wild boar. Find a few people to help me carry it!"
