Chapter 35: Food Distribution 1

"I don't have any medicine with me. Come home with me and I'll treat your injuries." After saying that, she tentatively reached out and pinched the back of its neck.

Seeing that it didn't struggle or resist, he lifted it up with all his strength, and with his other hand, he carefully held its butt and put it into the bamboo backpack.

Even though it looks well behaved at the moment, Tian Cai knows that it is very ferocious and its sharp claws are not just for show.

It's really fat, with a bulging belly. It's said that this thing weighs about the same as a domestic cat, but it has fluffy fur and looks fatter. But this one is definitely overweight.

No wonder it's targeted by its natural enemies since it's so fat.

Tian Cai used a hoe to dig up the soil next to him to cover the bloodstains on the ground, then washed his hands in the stream, and then quickened his pace to return.

When he got home, Tian Cai didn't close the door. He poured it out of the basket and put it on the ground. He then went to get a basin of warm water and went to the pharmacy to get tweezers, white cotton cloth and medicine.

When I came out, I saw that the little guy was still in the same position as when he was thrown out. He was lying crookedly on the ground. He looked weak, helpless and fat.

Tian Cai first took a wet cloth to clean the dirt on its body. When she wiped its back, she saw the little guy shaking and humming. She carefully pulled away the fur on its back that was stuck with blood, and found a long wound on its back.

The front half of the wound is deeper and has penetrated into the skin and flesh. This is where the main bleeding occurs. The back half is only a superficial injury.

Tian Cai avoided the wound and continued to wipe it. It was at this time that he discovered that the little panda was not just fat. The more he looked at its bulging belly, the more it looked like it was pregnant.

She pressed her belly gently with her hand. The fat was soft, but the little guy was hard.

Tian Cai held it and placed it on the examination bed. The wound on its back needed to be disinfected first. She brought the white wine to the little guy and let it smell it. "It will be painful when I put this on your wound later. Bear with it."

The red panda groaned, losing too much blood and becoming increasingly listless.

Tian Cai quickly disinfected the wound, applied a thick layer of enhanced medicine on it, and wrapped the wound tightly with white cotton cloth. After wrapping it all up, he harvested a big, white and plump rice dumpling.

After treating the wound on its back, Tian Cai found a few pieces of bamboo, adjusted the bones of its hind legs, applied bone ointment, and wrapped them together with the bamboo.

The little guy seemed to know that she did all this for his own good. He lay there motionless, looking at Tian Cai with his wet eyes.

Tian Cai treated all its wounds before he freed his hand to touch the tip of its furry ears. The big ears twitched and avoided Tian Cai's fingers.

"Okay, you heartless thing, you turned your face against me right after I applied the medicine on you!" Tian Cai tapped its forehead and complained, "Get out of here when you're better. You won't be allowed to touch me here anyway."

Tian Cai took an empty wooden box and placed it upside down under the eaves as a nest for it, with the opening of the box facing the yard. He put straw inside and carried it over.

Anyway, the North Mountain is just over the fence, so if the little guy wants to leave, he can do so at any time.

Tian Cai took a saw and cut a fence in the backyard down to the ground, leaving a gap more than half a meter high.

After dealing with it, Tian Cai poured out the medicinal herbs in the basket. Many of them were stained with the red panda's blood, so she washed them one by one with water.

When Tian Cai was doing this, the little guy looked at her with his eyes open at first, but after she washed the herbs and hung them on the bamboo mat, he closed his eyes.

Tian Cai walked quietly, carrying a bucket to fetch water to prepare dinner. She planned to cook early today, make some eggplant-stuffed pancakes, and prepare breakfast for tomorrow as well, so that she could go to the county again tomorrow.

Zhang Defa came over in the evening. He had been coughing for the past few days. Tian Cai checked and found that it was caused by a cold. After giving him some pills, the two chatted for a while.

Only then did she know that there would be a meeting in the threshing ground tomorrow to distribute this autumn's harvest to everyone. She happened to have gone up the mountain when the team leader was notifying everyone one by one.

She was here for such a short time that she couldn't get much, but if other people had extra food she could exchange some for it.

As Zhang Defa was leaving, he happened to see a red panda in a wooden box with its eyes open and in a defensive posture. He paused and leaned over to take a closer look. "Red panda?"

Tian Cai was stunned for a moment, then realized that he was referring to the local name for the red panda, so he nodded and said, "I brought it back because it was injured, so I wanted to ask you, uncle, do you know what it eats?"

Zhang Defa had seen red pandas in the nearby mountains before, but this creature was very afraid of people. Whenever it saw someone from a distance, it would hide in the mountains. This was the first time he saw one up close.

"It's quite pretty," Zhang Defa took two steps forward and stopped when he saw it arch its back and look wary. "It must be a vegetarian, after all, it grows in the woods. Give it some leaves or something and try."

After seeing Zhang Defa off, when Tian Cai came back alone, the little thing slowly relaxed its arched back when it saw that she was alone.

Tian Cai went back to the vegetable garden and pulled up some rapeseed and placed it on the straw in front of the cat. The little creature sniffed it with its nose raised and started to eat it in big mouthfuls. It was not known whether the rapeseed was delicious or because it was very hungry.

She squatted beside and watched for a while. The red panda was eating voraciously and seemed to have recovered quite well. As she watched, she suddenly remembered that it might be because the spinach had been watered by dew.

Tian Cai was suspicious, and there was a way to confirm it. He could go back to Luo Xiuyan's house and pick some of the same vegetable leaves to feed it to the dog and he would find out.

The next morning, the villagers gathered in the threshing ground, holding their own cloth bags in their hands, and some carried bamboo baskets and loads, all waiting to be distributed the grain.
